Creative Problem Solving Opt #1 – NC4520 – Naples Mar 26 at 1:30pm – 3pm, Tue

$20 / $25 Opt #2 – AT4521 - Atrium Apr 10 at 1:30pm – 3pm, Wed

Opt #3 – BR4522 – Brooks Apr 9 at 10am – 11:30am, Tue

Choose one of the course options above. Creative problem solving is not just about getting the right answers. It’s about sharpening your mind to think logically. The human brain thrives on learning and experiencing new things. If something is routine or too easy, our brains are essentially operating on autopilot, which does little to boost our cerebral strength. By exposing ourselves to new activities, we are keeping our brains sharp and focused. Our class will include working with matchsticks and toothpicks in order to come up with the solution for the given problem.

Spatial Thinking Opt #1 – NC4523 – Naples Apr 2 at 1:30pm – 3pm, Tue

$20 / $25 Opt #2 – AT4524 - Atrium Apr 17 at 1:30pm – 3pm, Wed

Opt #3 – BR4525 – Brooks Apr 18 at 10am – 11:30am, Thur

Choose one of the course options above. Spatial thinking involves problem solving and pattern prediction involving objects in their spatial orientation. These spatial thinking activities will greatly increase your perception and recall abilities. For example, strong spatial thinkers always turn in the right direction when leaving buildings and never have trouble locating their cars in parking lots. Our carefully designed spatial thinking puzzles and hands-on games will not only strengthen your overall perception and memory abilities, but are a lot of fun to solve!

Babies are Smarter than You Think! Perceptual Expertise Begins in Infancy!

FREE

NC4527 – Naples Center – May 11 at 10am – 11:30am, Saturday – 1.5 hours This lecture is jointly sponsored by the Renaissance Academy and the Vision Sciences Society. Contrary to conventional wisdom, infants are not passive, naïve observers. Aided by prenatally acquired perceptual abilities, starting at birth infants begin to interact with their world. As they grow, they rapidly learn about the faces, voices, speech, and language in their native environment. By their first birthday, infants become perceptual experts but, paradoxically, only for native faces, voices, speech, and language. This lecture will show how the knowledge that we acquire as infants not only facilitates but also hinders our interactions with our world for the rest of our lives. Instructor: Dr. David J. Lewkowicz
