STRENGTH & CONDITIONING Randy Popple, CSCS in entering his third year with FGCU. He oversees all aspects of strength and conditioning for every athletic team at FGCU. His duties include designing and implementing strength, conditioning and speed programs for all FGCU athletic teams.

Randy Popple Strength and Conditioning Coordinator

Popple, a 1987 graduate of the University of Florida, received his Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science while working as a student athletic trainer. In 1986 Popple served as the head student athletic trainer working with the Gator football team. Immediately following his graduation in 1987 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at the University of Florida. In 11 years as an assistant Popple worked with; Football, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Golf, Women’s Soccer, and Gymnastics. During his tenure at Florida the teams Popple worked with won numerous SEC Championships, national titles in football and women’s soccer, and appeared 3 times in the college world Series for baseball. In 1998 Popple left Florida to become the Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball Club. Popple held that post for 9 seasons, from 1998 until 2006. The Twins won 4 Divisional Titles and appeared in the 2002 ALCS. In 26 years in collegiate and professional sports Popple has worked directly with many professional and Olympic athletes such as Emmit Smith, Dara Torres, David Eckstein, Johan Santana, Torii Hunter, and Joe Mauer. Popple is an active member of the National Strength Conditioning Association (NSCA) and holds his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the NSCA as well. He and his wife Kathy have 4 children, Hannah age, 13 Carter, 11 Keegan, 7 and Christopher, 6.
