The Toppel Career Center offers several programs each semester designed to assist students and alumni with their career development needs. Programs include Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Interviewing Skills, and industry-specific programs such as Careers in Sports and Careers in Music, featuring employer speakers.

Professional advisors are available to discuss your goals and interests, create a personalized career action plan, and develop internship and job search skills. In addition, students who have not selected a major can choose from a variety of career assessments and review results with an advisor.

Career EXPOS and FAIRS We host a variety of job and internship fairs to assist students in networking with recruiters from a variety of industries. All students— from freshmen to seniors— are encouraged to attend.
INTERNSHIPS and the
Toppel Internship Program
Internships are a great way to explore interests, gain work experience, and apply classroom learning. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) recently reported that employers find their own internship programs to be the most effective resource for recruiting college graduates for full-time positions. For students who have already secured an internship, the Toppel Internship Program provides a 0-credit transcript notation that is visible on University of Miami transcripts.

GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL Programs Pre-professional career advising is available for students interested in medical school, law school, and other graduate programs. Toppel helps students identify programs of interest, prepare a personal statement, and conduct a mock interview.

PAD at Toppel
Entrepreneurship is a career choice to consider now! The Launch Pad serves both new and experienced entrepreneurs and assists with opportunity recognition, feasibility assessment, and strategy development for starting and growing companies or non-profits. The Launch Pad works with UM students and alumni from all majors and specializes in just-in-time delivery of resources - what you need, when you need it. Register at www.thelaunchpad.org.
Each semester, companies come to campus to recruit and interview UM students for jobs and internships. To apply for oncampus interviews, students must first register on HireACane.com and have an approved resume on the system.
