Student Pricing Selected performances presented by Adelaide Festival Centre will have a maximum $15 student ticket. In addition a limited number of Equity tickets for disadvantaged schools at $7.50 will be available. This learning will engage and provoke you; challenge and inspire your thinking, and connect the theatre experience to best practise teaching. Reflection Process and Learning Outcomes During and at the completion of the Package, teachers will reflect on their learning. Teachers will receive a Certificate of Professional Learning (aligned to Australian Professional Standards for Teachers) acknowledging learning outcomes and hours of participation.

Girt By Sea is a visually poetic documentary, celebrating our connection with the sea over the past century. Its enigmatic and surf-laced soundtrack was scored by award-winning band The Panics, who will perform it live with the film.
PERFORMANCE WEDNESDAY 18 MAY T2 W3 8PM This world premiere by State Opera of SA gives the iconic Tim Winton novel the full musical treatment. This quintessential Australian story of two families – the Lambs and the Pickles, and the extraordinary events that ultimately bind them together – often hilarious, sometimes harrowing. It is a story of love in all its forms, but most of all, it’s about catharsis and redemption.

The centrED Learning Experiences provide students with opportunities to deepen their knowledge and awareness of the Arts as an industry, and what working at a major arts centre entails. Students share learning through role modelling, collaborative problem solving, creative processes and refining communication skills. Great Work If You Can Get It! Australian Curriculum: The Arts SACE: Dance, Drama, Media Studies, Creative Arts, Visual Arts, English, Vocational & History Working in the arts doesn’t just mean acting, dancing and singing on stage. A range of skills across a variety of disciplines and industries can be applied to the arts. This program gives an overview of a wide range of careers in the arts industry from customer service, carpenters, graphic and web page designers, accountants and hospitality workers. Student Work Experience at the Adelaide Festival Centre Adelaide Festival Centre’s work experience program has a new and exciting format to ensure selected students gain the most from their experience. In 2016 the new 3 day program will offer students an insight into the activities of an arts venue, including an overview of the departments that work together to bring productions to the stage. Students are asked to submit a one-page application letter outlining why they are interested in pursuing a career in the arts, to describe their involvement in the arts to date and what they hope to gain from the work experience program. Please note, places are limited and very competitive. The Student Work Experience Program includes arts administration, festival programming, production, stage management and hospitality. 2016 Leaps & Bounds Day Australian Curriculum: The Arts SACE: Community Studies, Creative Arts, Dance, Integrated Studies, Research Project, Vocational An inspiring day for Year 11 and 12 dance students and teachers interested in pursuing dance as a subject or as a career. There are a range of presentations followed by workshops including: • Tips on how to successfully manage the challenges of the SACE dance curriculum. • A special industry presentation. • Technique classes in a range of genres.
Participants must wear appropriate dance gear and bring lunch. Teacher information packs given on the day. Students are expected to understand safe dance practice and dance class procedures.

Mortal Condition Dance Workshop Australian Curriculum: The Arts SACE: Community Studies, Creative Arts, Dance, Drama, History, Music, Integrated Studies, Media Studies, Research Project & Visual Arts Larissa McGowan and Kialea-Nadine Williams will lead the dance workshop that will consist of a contemporary warm-up and then move on to task work, ideas and repertoire of movement from the show Mortal Condition. After the warm down, Larissa and Kialea will chat about the show’s concept, development and the process of getting it to stage. Students will have the chance to ask questions and get an insight into what it takes to choreograph and conceive a dance piece and get it to the stage.
It is recommended that students participating in this workshop see the performance of Mortal Condition (see page 8) for a well-rounded dance experience.

Students will have the opportunity once again to perform at Adelaide Guitar Festival 2016 in front of a live, festival audience. It is an exciting opportunity to perform in a series of 15 minute open mic performances.
The Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra will once again perform as part of the Adelaide Guitar Festival with more than 80 young people performing alongside local and international guest artists at the Adelaide Town Hall on Sunday 14 August. Student tickets will start from $7.50. More information will be launched in schools from April 2016.
A limited number of student performances will be selected from applications.
Students wishing to apply to participate in the Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra are able to apply, with minimum standard of AMEB Grade 3 in Classical Guitar. Please email centrED@adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au for more information.

Adelaide Festival Centre Environment Adelaide Festival Centre is a professional working arts complex with four theatres including Her Majesty’s Theatre and a variety of exhibition spaces. On arrival for a performance you will be greeted by Front of House staff or an Education Manager and escorted to your seats in the theatre or workshop venue/s. Whilst in the auditorium, students are expected to comply with behaviour appropriate for a live performance.
Duty Of Care The Education Manager is a seconded teacher from the Department for Education and Child Development to Adelaide Festival Centre and has a duty of care to provide educationally sound programs for all students. The Education Manager can act in many different capacities including; facilitator, supervisor of activities or provider of extended learning resources. All teachers are reminded that they have a duty of care to supervise students at all times. centrED follows the recommended DECD teacher to student ratio: 1:6 for Pre-school – 2

Adelaide Festival Centre’s Front of House staff are trained in emergency response procedures. In the event of an emergency please follow the directions of the Front of House attendants.

A minimum of two sanctioned supervisors/teachers are required at all times.
