NEW Education Opportunity at FENCETECH’12 – Complete two of the eight core modules for Fence Installation School, a prerequisite to becoming a Certified Fence Installer!

FENCETECH now offers educational opportunities for AFA’s new Certified Installer (CI) program. Once again certification exams will be offered on the first show day for Certified Fence Professional (CFP) and Certified Automated Gate Operator Installer (CAGOI).

AFA’s new Certified Installer program offers industry certification in fencing and fencing-related specialties to enable member companies to raise and demonstrate their level of professionalism. Fence Installation School is geared to teach professional, standards- and best practices-based fence installation to new and seasoned fence installers. Now you can take two of the modules during FENCETECH, with the goal to offer all core modules of the curriculum at FENCETECH’13.

Certified Fence Professional (CFP) Exam Wednesday, January 25 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

This certification program is designed for manufacturers, suppliers, owners, project managers, estimators and office personnel. It will increase your awareness of our industry and your community, and recognize you for your leadership efforts. Re-certification is required on a three-year interval with a point system and minimum continuing education requirement. Re-certification application is also available online. AFA feels very strongly about elevating fence industry standards. Increase professionalism! The CFP cost is $345 for AFA members and $695 for non-members.

Certified Automated Gate Operator Installer (CAGOI) Exam Wednesday, January 25 1:00 – 2:45 pm – REVIEW 3:00 – 5:00 PM – EXAM

In today’s safety-conscious society, consumers demand high quality products installed by professionals. The gate operator installer’s knowledge is an essential element of a safe and properly working automated gate system. IDEA, AFA, NOMMA and DASMA have established a program to validate the credentials of individuals who have the experience and skills in the installation and servicing of automated gate systems. The exam for this nationally recognized certification for operator installers will be given by IDEA, the certifying organization. The exam will incur the IDEA costs of $250, with a $50 rebate given by AFA to its members. Successful completion of the exam is based on prior studying of the Self Study Guide for the Gate Operator Installer Certification Program.

Pre-Registration by 12/16/11 is recommended as study materials are sent out in advance.

ASTM Committee F14, formed in 1973 currently has jurisdiction of 43 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. The committee meets in conjunction with the AFA Trade Show every winter and in June for one day of technical meetings. ASTM Committee F14 is open and invites membership from fence manufacturers, fence users and general interest areas to join. Anyone can be an ASTM member.

SMOKING is not permitted inside the Convention Center. DRESS CODE: Casual attire is welcomed at FENCETECH/DECKTECH. Temperatures in Miami can range from the low 60s to the mid-70s. There is always a possibility of rain that time of year.

CHILDREN ON THE SHOW FLOOR: Children 16 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult at ALL times. They will receive a wrist band at registration. Any person 17 and older must register as an adult.
