Still a baby, Iesha was sent to live with her grandmother in the south Bronx where they lived for several years before moving to Monterey projects on 180th and Lafontaine Ave in the Bronx.

As a teenager Iesha wrote songs and worked with a lot of the pioneers in the rap game, such as, Jazzy Jay (Soul Sonic Force), Grand Puba, Charlie Chase (Cold Crush Brothers), Funk Master Wizard Wiz, Romeo JD (Boogie Boys), DNA (DNA HANK LOVE SHOW). She credits her English professor, Remica Bingham, with giving her the idea of starting her own publishing company. Author Leighanne Boyd has laid her pen game down. Her writing style is captivating and she tells a great story. "Once Upon A Time in the Bricks" is a must read. The twist and turns that are so unexpected, they leave you wanting more. It was a pleasure to read a hood story that is different. The end of the story is a true shocker. I can't wait for her to pen her next novel as I will be on the look out for this young lady. Leighanne has heart -warming pages about the author and to the readers, I for 1 am glad she didn't give up on her dream to become a writer. Leighanne serves as an example never to give up on your dreams. SiStar Tea ARC Book Club Inc. 5 Star rating.
