Statement I am primarily interested in people, and how, through art, platforms and moments of encounter can be generated through artworks and their processes. In my artistic practice, I seek to reflect about the capacity to affect us politically and emotionally through interpersonal relationships, communication with others, and collaboration, and how these relationships shape us as a society. I develop my practice in two lines of action. The main line focuses on creating installations or sculptures of relational art, where the design of the pieces aims to establish certain minimal guidelines for the physical encounter between two or more people. These "interactive" sculptures often reflect on how personal relationships between participants develop through their use, materials, design, and context. Additionally, I also work on the representation of forms of relationships. In many instances, these works involve third parties in processes aimed at generating installations that reflect contemporary forms of relationship. Many of these manifestations take the form of sound works or sculptures that incorporate the voices of third parties, and in other instances, they are video recordings of encounters between different people with a pre-determined script. These choices are motivated by a conception of art as a space for sharing from a non-functional perspective, but rather as a place where we encounter our emotions and those of others. In other words, it is a space where empathy can be practiced, and an attempt to understand the emotional position of others. This exercise, I believe, is fundamental for the construction of non-individualistic spaces, in contrast to the forms of relationships proposed by models of competitive development and emotional isolation. On the other hand, this type of practice allows me to work directly with people, generating the possibility of carrying out work in specific contexts where people are protagonists.
