Tamarind gum is pasted onto small patches of cloth before being placed on the figure, pulling and stretching it to ensure there are no wrinkles or overlaps.

To prepare the surface for it is primed firstly with tamarind gum followed by two coats of white chalk paint.

After the has dried the surface is sanded down. Then to create a low relief and to perfect the detail of the work, embossing fluid (a thicker version of the chalk paint) is painted on. This is done in numerous layers to accentuate features.
