Autism Spectrum Disorders:
“Self Care” Training Series Promoting successful daily living skills training and support for individuals with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders.
This “On My Own: Self Care” program provides the basic living skills needed to lead our students toward an improved sense of independence. All of the classes include safety and/or time-management components. The social skills, budgeting, self care and public transportation portions of this series will also be beneficial to students who are seeking employment.
CLASS SERIES #: SC-A Cooking (make a simple Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) Basic home maintenance (use a toilet plunger, turn off toilet water valve, change a light bulb and reset breakers) Laundry (sort, wash, fold clothing and towels) Basic home cleaning (clean, bathrooms, kitchens, floors and dust) CLASS SERIES #: SC-B Social skills for relationships (develop and enhance communication skills with family, friends and in dating relationships. Role playing.) Budgeting (how to budget – taught by a local community banking expert) Self care (good hygiene, shaving, make up, nutrition, exercise, stretching and relaxing the mind and body) Public transportation (how to read and use the RTC bus system and apply for any discount cards.)

CLASS DATES AND TIMES: (Each Module is a total of four (4), three-hour classes.) Classes for Modules 1-4 will be held on consecutive Mondays and Tuesdays, from 2:00 pm to 5:00pm (*Except for Module 5) MODULE # 1 2 3 4 5
