"The Church is the one institution that exists for those outside it." - William Tyndale By the time you read this the Nominations Committee has already begun the work of praying for and selecting a team of people to guide us in the coming weeks and months through a long-needed process of repair, renovation, and renewal to our sanctuary and other parts of our grounds. I want to give you some insight into this process and how we are planning to move forward over these next months. First, I have tasked the Nominations Committee to select eight people to serve on the Renewal and Renovation Team (or R&R Team). This team will consist of two active members of the Building & Properties Committee, two active members of the Finance Committee, two active deacons, and two active “at large” members of the congregation. The Nominations Committee plans to have this team selected in order to be presented to the congregation by March 3rd for a church-wide vote on March 17th. The R&R Team will begin working immediately on a plan for the repair, renewal, and renovation of our sanctuary and other areas around the church building and grounds. This plan will address three categories based upon a survey conducted on our building in 2018 during a “walk-around,” where several issues were identified. These three categories are: 1) Repair: these are our most immediate, pressing needs,2) Renewal: these are areas that require attention before they become repair needs, and 3) Renovations: these are areas that are functional but could stand to be updated for better, long-term use. The R&R Team will also be responsible for developing an implementation plan for the repair/renewal/renovation plan in order to keep things on schedule, within the desired budget, and moving along. This will be a key part in making sure the entire plan comes together and begins moving with efficiency and direction. In the coming weeks, you may be asked to serve on this team. If you are, be prayerfully aware of the work ahead of you and know that you are being asked because you are a trusted part of this congregation who will serve with the whole body of FBC Williams in mind. If you are not asked or choose not to serve on the R&R Team, I ask that you join me in praying for them, our church, and all of those who will have a hand in bringing us into this next chapter in the life of Christ’s Church here at Williams. You will also be given the opportunity to begin financially seeding the work that will be proposed by the R&R Team, beginning Sunday, February 3rd. I am asking that in addition to your undesignated tithes and offerings, that you prayerfully consider giving to the R&R Fund (you may have previously given to the “building fund,” etc.). This fund will help give us an idea of where we might begin with the financial planning of the R&R Team. You can simply note on your check or envelop “R&R Fund” if you wish to give towards our future work (all gifts noted for “building fund,” etc. will go towards the R&R Fund as well).
