INTRODUCTION
The Great Mother has never felt so sick in so many ways. Her skies are polluted and Her waters poisonous. Her soil is toxic and Her heart is bleeding. For so long, She has given sanctuary to Man and Beast alike, reveling in the harmony of the two beneath the great skies. She had not foreseen Man’s greed and, for the very few of them that were trying to pay homage to Her gifts, still She was being depleted so quickly. She could no longer idly stand by. She knew she had to bring the balance back to save Herself and the future of all. And so it was, with heavy heart, that the Great Mother called upon Her Furies to set things right, once and for all!

The Great Mother calls upon the Furies of Lightning and Thunder, a dynamic pair of light and sound like no other. “Let them be warned what is to come,” She whispers through the billowing clouds. With a single nod and bowing grace, they set to their tasks with Lightning illuminating the skies with His electrical fingers sizzling and sparking far and wide while Thunder’s voice reverberates to awaken in the most sleepful of spirits within these final days.

The battle cry has been seen and heard...and felt! The birds, great and small, took flight, darkening the skies even more so than before. Winds from their flapping wings mixing with squalls and squawks of the great predators help to disorient those humans brave enough to run, their screams adding to the shrills of sounds of deafening sounds. Sharp talons extend and reach for face and flesh of those too ungrateful to be part of this world.

Where the predatory war birds could not go, the great beasts came charging! Tigers, lions, panthers, wolves, elephants, rhinos, snakes, and all manner of dangerous and venomous beasts trample over jungles, fields, and valleys through to the cities chasing away the ugliness of greed and filth. They would no longer be placated being kept in zoos and sanctuaries. Now was the time to reclaim what had been theirs from the beginning!

Trailing behind the magnificent beasts are the more docile creatures led by the Fury of Overgrowth. Though Overgrowth’s touch was gentle, the vines and plants that took hold were not. Once great buildings and structures quickly become covered with plants and trees, grasses and Kudzu for the animals to feast upon generously while the Great Mother begins to heal.

As the Great Mother moved in Her orbital dance around the giant star, Father Sun bore witness to Her distressing turmoil. Though this was not his struggle, His love for Her could not be denied and so it was that, as She tilted towards him letting down Her atmospheric shields, Father Sun blew Her a kiss in the form of a Solar Flare, disturbing, if not completely destroying, satellites and communications. Technology was no longer the option to be the savior of humans.

Father Sun’s kiss brushes across the cheek of the Fury of Meteors as well. A gentle pause is given awaiting the Great Mother’s approval as the Fury of Meteors, much like Father Sun, has no desire to add to Her pain. Feeling her assent, Meteor leads the assault upon more of the great cities, showering them with meteor rocks of all sizes to burn through the skies like the weapons of mass destruction the humans built to destroy each other. Meteors pound the Great Mother in fiery explosions, sending hapless humans in every direction. Buildings topple and crumble, the monuments of vanity reducing to ash and rubble at Meteor’s whim and will.

The Fury of Meteors did not settle for raining down on cities alone and so it was that soon the outlying forests ignited! The Fury of Forest Fires smiles into the dark skies, Her fingers feasting on bark and vegetation, sparking embers to jump and dance to extend her blazing reach. So often Man would hinder Her feedings, but not this time. Reduced to more primitive ways of communication, Man is forced to seek shelter elsewhere if such places can be found.

Watching with a sense of pride, the Fury of Drought waits patiently for the Fury of Forest Fires to diminish and move along before He walks about the desolate lands. With each step He takes, the ground cracks beneath his feet, exposing the deep emptiness of nutrients. Throwing His arms out wide, He expands His famine farther than the human eye can see. He bows gently to the Great Mother and continues trailing the Fires to spread His unique gifts.

The Fury of Tornadoes hovers and swirls over the Great Mother with a wicked gleam in Her eyes as she watches the goings on below. Having no intention of missing out on the growing chaos of Man, She twirls Her fingers in the air and touches the ground. Tornadoes ranging from EF2 to EF5 whip through the lands in their twisted dances, kicking up even the most secure of Man made structures. Those aren’t eerie sounds of high winds; that is the Fury of Tornadoes laughing at Man’s attempt to outrun Her.

The Fury of Tornadoes leans to whisper to Her sister, the Fury of Sandstorms, to pick up where She leaves off. Like the whip of a scorpion’s tail, Sandstorm begins a fast and deadly attack against all that cross Her path. Sands so hot and sharp cut exposed flesh and blind even those that think walls and windows will save them from Her wrath.

With the warmer climates along the Great Mother’s crust under heavy attack, it was time for Her to turn her attention to the colder regions. She calls upon the Fury of Ice Storms and watches, with an awesome fascination, as the Fury begins Her cold play. As beautiful as She is cold, Lady Ice sends piercing winds through mountains and valleys, icy fingers stabbing through all they touch with the same lack of mercy as Man has shown the Great Mother’s resources.

As Lady Ice’s winds reach the upper peaks, She awakes the Fury of Avalanches to continue to punish the unworthy. The weight of the heavy snows begin to crack along the mountainsides, sending them careening down the smooth and jagged slopes, speed gaining, energy and momentum increasing past alarming rates to swallow everything She touches. Plumes of snow flurries are slow to settle into the fresh blanket of quiet death.

A great hush settles over newly covered crust, bringing forth the Fury of Deep Freeze. With every step He takes, what was once cold turns so frigid it burns. A single breath freezes the lungs, even under heavy layers of clothing. Freeze spreads His wings, the air around Him paralyzing into a crackling stillness to be felt until the Great Mother awakens anew.

The Great Mother’s transformation was nearly complete. Being covered mostly in water, She saves her strongest Furies for last. With a gentle nudge along Her tectonic plates, She brings forth the Fury of Earthquakes. With a mighty stomp of feet and fists, He roars his battle cry! The Great Mother shakes violently in all directions, forming grand mountains and vastly deep crevices, leveling any remaining man-made creations and proving, once and for all, that the end was so very near.

The Fury of Tsunamis rises up from the depths of the great oceans with Her tentacles carrying the building currents higher and higher, the shore lines drawing back in that breath of silence that comes before Her waves crash and devour. Her reach extends hundreds of miles inland, capturing and pulling at debris that will eventually settle beneath Her crushing depths.

With the Fury of Earthquakes’ last rumbling roar, the Fury of Volcanoes feels the molten lava from the Great Mother’s core moving through His veins. The pressure builds and builds but He holds back just a little longer, giving time for the 6 great calderas to fill and finally EXPLODE! The skies around the Great Mother fill with ash and cover Her in darkness while raining down chunks of rocks and spewing lava like blood. The Ring of Fire ignites as does every known Volcano upon Her. Though the time will be considerable, She knows that once Volcano’s lava cools and His ash subsides, the lands will be rich in soil and nutrients to start anew without a trace of those that came before.
