Summer@Farragut Admiral Farragut Academy is a premier co-educational boarding (grades 8-12) and day (grades PreK-12) school located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Summer@Farragut is a unique six week boarding experience for students entering grades 8-12. Summer attendees will stay in the finest dorm facilities and participate in challenging college-prep courses, and gain a lifetime of memories. Outings include trips to nearby world-renowned beaches, action-packed attractions, and beautiful state parks.

Dormitories


Dormitories Located on a 35-acre gated waterfront campus, Farragut Hall, the school’s main building, was built as a hotel in 1925. The hotel rooms, located on the second and third floors, were converted into dormitory rooms when the property was purchased by Admiral Farragut Academy. SEPARATED DORMS Female and male dormitories are separated by alarmed doors, and they are required to use separate staircases.

Dining Services


Dining Services The school’s dining program is managed by SAGE Dining Services. Every dish is free of trans fats and made from fresh ingredients. To accommodate a diverse student population, many meals are culturally themed or prepared. Three well-balanced, hot meals are served each day. LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDE • Two entrees, including a vegetarian option, with a side and fresh vegetables • Hot, homemade soups • Fresh fruits • A salad bar: abundance of crisp greens, fresh vegetable toppings, and specialty salad options • A sandwich deli bar with an assortment of fresh breads, high quality lean lunch meats, deli salads, a selection of cheese, fresh toppings, and condiments • Dessert BREAKFAST MEALS INCLUDE • Breakfast buffet of omelets, waffles, yogurt parfaits, toast, bagels, and potatoes • Eggs are scrambled or cooked to order • Bacon, sausage, or ham • Fresh fruits, juices, assorted pastries, and cold cereals • Weekly specialty items: breakfast quiche, burritos, stratas, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, and grits farragut.org/summer@

• Residential Life staff live in the dormitories in private apartments • Additional staff live in on-campus apartments or housing • 24-hour, in-house security staff SAFETY Farragut is a gated community in a family-friendly neighborhood with campus security. All gates are locked after 10:30 p.m. Dormitories have alarmed doors between the male and female dorms. Approximately 14 Residential Life Staff members live on campus, some in apartments within the dormitories where they provide direct supervision. Other staff members live in campus apartment or homes so they can join students for meals and provide additional supervision. farragut.org/summer@

History


History DID YOU KNOW? • Admiral Farragut Academy was founded in 1933 • College preparatory, co-ed, Naval JROTC school named after Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, the first U.S. Naval officer to rise to that rank. • Farragut is one of two Honor Naval Academies in the United States. • Two of the 12 Astronauts who have walked on the moon are graduates of Admiral Farragut Academy: Alan Shepard, Class of 1941, and Charlie Duke, Class of 1953. • In 1992, Farragut Hall was designated as a historical landmark by the City of St. Petersburg.

• In 2010, our campus was the location for the Veteran’s Hospital in the Warner Brother’s film Dolphin Tale starring Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick, Jr. and Ashley Judd.
