お帰りなさい、みんなさん。Welcome home to FanimeCon! FanimeCon 2022 comes to us after a three-year absence where we have weathered many challenging and unkind events. Throughout this time, all of you have supported FanimeCon and kept up hope that we would be able to meet again in person. Thank you for your support and cheer as we navigate this unique year in FanimeCon history! We ask for your cooperation and grace to help keep our community safe as we gather, tens of thousands at a time, in this small slice of time and space that is our home.

Welcome Back!
Three years of not being able to see one another has made us expert home bakers, or maybe just experts in ordering off DoorDash. This year, our food theme is ready to assail our senses! I know I’ll be hitting up my usual takoyaki stand and enjoying all the food-based games, art, and merch I can get my hands on! I think we all breathed a sigh of relief and excitement when FanimeCon was able to definitively say “We’re back in person!” We had you, the fans, in mind as we drafted solutions to make sure everyone at con could
have a safe, yet fun convention to return to! Much has changed from the previous year, but we also have new events such as J-Fashion spearheading their first year at FanimeCon! Overall, I’ll be looking forward to perusing the snacks in the Dealer’s Hall, finding new artists in Artist Alley, and dancing my heart out at Black & White Ball! This is my first year on the Chair team, an opportunity which has let me give back to a community that has given so much to me. Giving back is always a motto that I live by. FanimeCon provides me a place where I can express myself and truly believe that I am “at home,” and I hope to extend that same feeling to you all! 楽しもうぜ!!! (Let’s have fun!)
Convention Safety Initiative To keep FanimeCon a safe and healthy place, we now require anyone who enters any convention center space to be badged. This will be enforced during the entire length of FanimeCon 2022. FanimeCon has grown substantially from small anime club roots to one of the largest anime conventions in North America. Along the way, we’ve experienced growing pains like any other convention or event. We kindly request your continued patience and wholeheartedly welcome any and all feedback during these times of change. Our primary goal has always been and will continue to be to facilitate as safe and healthy an environment as possible. With CSI, we hope to work towards continuing and improving on that mission. So again, thank you all, and we hope you have an amazing and safe time at FanimeCon! To make it easy on badge checkers, please hold your badge out so it can be easily read. In the interest of health, please don't let anyone touch your badge except for FanimeCon staff and security.
FanimeCon COVID-19 Policies This year, everyone attending FanimeCon 2022 must be fully vaccinated prior to May 26, 2022. This means all attendees, guests, and staff will need all recommended doses in the primary series and one booster (if eligible to receive a booster) 14 days prior to the convention, which is on or before May 12, 2022. We are not allowing negative COVID-19 tests, or medical or personal exemptions instead of being fully vaccinated, including children under five years of age who are not eligible to be vaccinated. We hope that we will be able to welcome everyone back in a future year. FanimeCon is using CLEAR to verify vaccination status at clear.app.link/fanimecon. FanimeCon will require all attendees, guests, and staff to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all FanimeCon indoor event spaces. In addition to our indoor event space, masks will be required to be worn when outside in front of the San Jose Convention Center due to crowded conditions. Prolonged periods of mask removal are not permitted for eating or drinking; the mask must be worn between bites, sips, and taking medication. Exceptions are personal hotel rooms; designated eating or drinking areas; or FanimeCon performers actively on stage performing. Designated eating and drinking areas will be clearly marked with signs. Please follow masking policies for restaurants and other spaces operated by our facility partners. In accordance with California guidelines, policies will be posted at the entrance of each establishment.

AOI YUKI Born March 27 in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, Aoi Yuki got her start as a child actor at age four. Currently affiliated with Aoni Production, she got her first voice acting role at age five, and has since risen to become one of the most recognizable names in anime. Ms. Yuki has over a hundred credits to her name, including notable characters such as Madoka Kaname (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), Tamaki Kotatsu (Fire Force), Tsuyu Asui (My Hero Academia), Tatsumaki (OnePunch Man), Diane (The Seven Deadly Sins), and Iris (Pokemon: Best Wishes!). Her game credits include several Fate/Grand Order characters, Futaba Sakura (Persona 5), Lumine (Genshin Impact), Taiho (Azur Lane), Lysithea (Fire Emblem: Three Houses), and Istina (Arknights). In 2012, Ms. Yuki received the Best Actress Award at the Sixth Annual Seiyu Awards. We are excited to have Ms. Yuki make her first appearance at FanimeCon. Ms. Yuki will be making a virtual guest appearance at a prerecording panel where attendees can win special prizes! Please send her lots of love!

KEISUKE UEDA Keisuke Ueda is an actor and singer best known for his performances on stage, particularly in “2.5 Dimensional Musicals,” stage shows based on 2D media such as anime and manga. Born on September 5, 1989 in Osaka, he landed his first lead role in 2007, in a musical adaptation of Shonen Onmyoji. Since then, Mr. Ueda has played a central role in numerous stage productions. His notable characters include Sangaku Manami (Yowamushi Pedal), Japan (Hetalia), Choromatsu (Osomatsusan), Zenitsu Agatsuma (Demon Slayer), and Yuma Kuga (World Trigger), among others. Most recently, he could be seen on stage as Chifuyu Matsuno in Tokyo Revengers: Bloody Halloween, and Hisoka Mikage in MANKAI STAGE “A3!” ACT 2 ~ Spring 2022~. In addition to acting on stage, Mr. Ueda has expanded his activities to include roles in TV dramas and movies, as well as voice acting in anime and games. Notably, he provided the voice for Heine Wittgenstein in the anime, The Royal Tutor, as well as portraying him on stage in the musical adaptation. Though already active as a singer through musicals, he made his major debut as a solo artist in 2018 with his first single, “START LINE ~Toki no Wadachi~.” He

followed this with the release of two albums: Voice of.. in 2019, and canvas in 2021. This June, Mr. Ueda will once again be reprising his role as Chuya Nakahara in the stage play, Bungo Stray Dogs: STORM
BRINGER. He will be joining FanimeCon for the first time as a virtual guest via a pre-recorded panel. Come and learn more about the world of 2.5D musicals and get a chance to win special prizes!
ALVIN ZHOU Alvin Zhou is a video creator that enjoys showcasing genuine stories about food and the people who make it. He's currently having a lot of fun cooking up different dishes from various anime for Anime with Alvin (a show in the Babish Culinary Universe), creating short films about chefs in the restaurant industry, and every now and then, making little videos about the food he cooks at home on his personal channel. At night, Alvin loves playing video games (especially Genshin), browsing watch websites, watching movies/anime/Twitch, listening to NieR soundtracks, playing piano, and sometimes baking. Fun fact: every day, Alvin eats half a box of spring mix for lunch. One of those big ones, too. He says it helps satisfy his voracious appetite, but his pleasure for eating out says otherwise. If you give Alvin a can of Spindrift, he will become your friend immediately. Please welcome Alvin at his very first guest appearance at FanimeCon!

DAVID VINCENT David Vincent is an award-winning professional voice actor and TV producer based in Los Angeles. He has lent his voice to hundreds of animations, including series, movies, and video games, as well as guest star appearances on hit TV shows such as The Mentalist and NCIS. His recent roles are Kento Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, and as the Talking Sailor Uniform Senketsu on the hit TV Series Kill La Kill airing on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. He can also be heard in the mega-hit video game Super Smash Bros. as the character Robin, who he also plays in Fire Emblem: Awakening. David is a lead talent behind the virtual signing platform Streamily. VAMPYBITME VampyBitMe is back for her fifth year at FanimeCon! Linda Le (a.k.a. VampyBitMe) grew up in Oklahoma before moving to California where she was discovered by Kotobukiya and Danny Choo after being featured in OTACOOL 2. Since then her costumes have been a worldwide success! She has been featured on Marvel.com and CNN’s, "24 Hours in the Life of a Worldwide Cosplayer,” as well as partnered with Capcom, Bandai, DC, and various game companies in order to bring characters to life through cosplay. She continues to travel the world, excited to talk about armor making, building Gunpla, creating new art work, and streaming her passions on Twitch. Currently, Vampy is a Host for Bandai Namco Collectables Hobby as well as the Social and Community Manager for the new FPS title GUNDAM EVOLUTION. She loves meeting passionate people in all different walks of life, and loves to keep up the positivity in the hobby and gaming industry.

HokuProps is led by propmaker Chad Hoku and seamstress Sammy Hoku. Chad's background in 3D has him designing cosplays digitally before utilizing different fabrication techniques to make armor, props, and all kinds of costume components.
Sammy’s love for cosplay at a young age led her to study fashion and costume design as an adult, and she uses this knowledge to cover all sewn elements for their cosplay projects. HokuProps is best known for their Lionhardt cosplay, which
won grand prize at TwitchCon's first Cosplay Contest in 2016 and for co-founding the Ultimate Online Cosplay Championship in 2020 with Tock Custom.

MAGUMA Matthew “Maguma” Lewis is a 32 year-old cosplayer from Los Angeles, California. Since his very first convention at Anime Expo 2005, Maguma has found an overabundance of challenges, joy, and fulfillment in the world of cosplay! Throughout the years, he has participated in award-winning Masquerade performances, a variety of events, and many cosplay panels. Additionally, he has participated in cosplay-centered TV shows, has worked with anime productions, video game companies, volunteered at conventions from coast to coast, and served as a member of the Executive Committee for Animé Los Angeles. Outside of cosplay, Maguma is a digital artist/character designer and very invested in the fighting game community. This has led him to begin developing his very own fighting game, Burning Souls, combining his love of art and fighting game classics.

Info Desk is back and ready to help you navigate all the new changes at FanimeCon! This year we will only have our main desk by Stage Zero, but we are still here to answer your questions, direct you to where you need to go, and to help you have the best time at FanimeCon!
Lost & Found is just that – where you go to look for (or turn in!) any lost items. If you’ve found something, please bring it to us and we’ll hold onto it! If you’ve lost something, please stop by and describe it to us. With any luck, someone’s turned it in! This department can be found on the second floor of the Hilton in the San Carlos room with ConOps.
Registration is the first place to go when you arrive at FanimeCon. This is where you pick up your membership badge for fully paid online registration, or to register and pay for membership at the convention. Please consult fanime.com/registration-faq/ or the FanimeCon Pocket Guide for the Registration FAQs and hours.
Lost Badge Policy In the event that you lose or misplace your badge, please check with Lost & Found to see if it has been found and returned. If your badge has not been returned, then you may request a replacement badge. The cost of the first reprint is $50 for a full or halfweekend badge or $35 for a single day badge. If you lose or misplace your badge a second time (assuming it has not been returned to Lost & Found), you will be charged the full, at-con price for a badge replacement. A replacement badge will invalidate your original badge, and there are NO refunds for your replacement badge, if you should find your original badge.
Industry and Press SJCC — Room 114 Professional Registration (ProReg) handles badges for members of the press covering FanimeCon, as well as creators, executives, and marketing personnel in the anime, manga, and related industries. Unfortunately, ProReg for FanimeCon 2022 is only available for pre-registration this year and will not be available at the convention itself. Please see the ProReg FAQ on the FanimeCon website for more information.
This year we ask that you please keep your face mask on when interacting with our staff as we work to answer your question. As always: you’ve got questions, we have the answers!

Volunteer for only 20 hours and get a full reimbursement of your weekend badge, or volunteer for five hours to get reimbursed for a single day badge*. Volunteers are wanted at all hours, and in virtually all departments! Please stop by and find a schedule that works for you. *Minors under the age of 18 are only required to work 16 hours for a full-weekend badge, eight hours for a half-weekend badge, or four hours for a single day badge. *Must be at least 13 years of age to volunteer. If you are a minor (under 18), a guardian consent form with a photocopy of your legal guardian's ID is required to register to be a volunteer. Minors must have a government issued ID or school ID as well.
Emergency Services Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and San Jose Police Department (SJPD) officers are always available on-site. If any emergencies occur, please contact ConOps or the nearest Staff member as soon as possible.
Note: Please be patient when trying to track down something you’ve lost. Many people who find a lost item or badge turn it in when they have a chance, which is not always right when they find it or when you’ve lost it. All Lost & Found items are held for a three month period after the convention, after which they are then turned over to the San Jose Convention Center. To contact Lost & Found after the convention, email lost@fanime.com. Please do not email us during the convention as it will not be received!
Convention Etiquette While you are at FanimeCon, always remember to respect the personal space of others. Always ask permission to take photos of someone and their cosplay. Cosplay is not consent. Please respect people's personal space and not touch others or their property. Remember to be considerate and never block traffic. If you are looking to take a photo of a cosplay, kindly ask the cosplayer if they are ok stepping out of the traffic flow to take the photo. Keep FanimeCon a fun and safe place for everyone.

Essentials Autographs
Please note that the Autographs queuing process has been completely overhauled this year. Please check on the FanimeCon website for info about our new system and policies, or come visit us in the Autographs area and an Autographs staff member will be happy to assist! FanimeCon has designated a special area for our attendees and Guests of Honor to create cherished memories and obtain autographs. Be sure to stop by when planning your FanimeCon experience! The schedule (found online and in your Pocket Guide!) will have the times and places where our Guests of Honor will sign autographs. Please keep social distancing and our other new policies in mind when attending autograph sessions. Remember, these people are our guests and should be treated with the utmost respect. Kindness and smiles go a long way! Have fun and enjoy your time with this year's Guests of Honor!
New Mom Rooms We have set aside a private room for new mothers to make use of during the convention. Whether it be for some much-needed privacy or just to have some peace and quiet, this space will be available in the Hilton San Jose. The key is available at ConOps on the Hilton San Jose's second floor. The room is open for use during ConOps hours.
Policy Relations Policy Relations is a department that works with Convention Security to address and resolve safety concerns. If you or someone you know feels unsafe for any reason, we encourage you to notify any FanimeCon staff or Convention Security staff and we will do everything in our power to assist you. You can also call or send a text message to 1 (414) FANIME1 (1-414-326-4631).
Code of Conduct Introduction FanimeCon is committed to providing a safe environment for our attendees and staff. The Code of Conduct outlined below details the expected behavior
our attendees and staff must adhere to. By attending FanimeCon, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Badges FanimeCon badges are the physical representation of the ticket that attendees have purchased and are the property of FanimeCon for the duration of FanimeCon. You will need to show your badge at designated checkpoints to enter Convention Center space. • Badges must be worn on your person, above the waist, and easily visible while in Convention Center space. • Badges are non-transferable. • Badges may not be duplicated or altered. • Badges may be revoked at any time by qualified Security and FanimeCon staff members. Entry to events will be denied if a badge is revoked. Facilities The San Jose Convention Center, Cultural Facilities, and surrounding hotels have hosted FanimeCon for many years. To promote good relations with these entities, please respect the facilities by leaving it and any equipment in the same condition as you found them.

Props Policy FanimeCon reserves the right to modify or update this policy at any time and without prior notice. Your FanimeCon badge means that you agree to comply with this Props Policy. You further understand and agree that, for your own safety and the safety of everyone at FanimeCon, designated staff members have the absolute and immediate discretion and right to inspect your costume, prop weapons, and any other item you bring to the convention. We may temporarily or permanently remove any attendee’s Peace-bond at our sole and absolute discretion at any time for violating this Props Policy. • Your prop must accompany the costume that you are wearing in order to be Peace-bonded. • Canes and other assistive devices do not require Peace-bonding and are allowed in badge-restricted areas.
• Any prop gun must look like a prop from 50 feet away. This is for your safety and for the safety of our other attendees. • Gun and firearm-style props must have an orange tip, plus two other orange bands. • No functional bows and arrows. • No metal or wood bats, metal pipes, or long metal chains. • Props should not be made of glass or contain glass components. • This includes, but is not limited to, bottles, glass tubes, solid glass statues, etc. • Any item that is designed or manufactured with the intent to cause bodily injury or death, any item that is illegal in the state of California, or any other item that appears dangerous or may pose a risk of harm will not be allowed on the premises. This will be up to the sole discretion of qualified FanimeCon staff. • No smoke machines are allowed within the Convention Center. • Any lights that blink rapidly or brightly enough that they disturb other attendees should not be included in props. Lights that slowly transition from one color to another or gradually increase in brightness overtime will be judged on a caseby-case basis. • Lightsabers are allowed, but you must be careful with them.

Peace-bonded Weapons at the Event You may display your prop weapons only as costume pieces. Do not swing or brandish your prop weapon in any way that could be considered unsafe or threatening. You may pose with a prop weapon in a brandishing manner, so long as no reasonable person would interpret it as anything but a pose for dramatic effect. FanimeCon staff or FanimeCon management may stop your posed brandishing at their sole discretion. Current U.S. military uniforms, costumes that may be confused with law enforcement, or other emergency response personnel are not permitted at FanimeCon.
If You Buy Props or Weapons at the Convention • If you buy a weapon in the Dealer’s Hall, it needs to stay taped in its box and taken off convention property as soon as possible. Live steel will not be Peace-bonded. • If you buy a prop at FanimeCon, you may have it tagged with a Peace-bond as long as it belongs with the cosplay you are currently wearing and follows the Props Policy. If not, it needs to be removed from the premises and taken to your hotel room or car.
FanimeCon Costume Rules & Limitations
• All costumes worn within the convention center must fit through a standard doorway.
• All con attendees must wear shoes at all times while in official convention space. This includes, but is not limited to, the: San Jose Convention Center, Marriott, Hilton, Civic Center, and Parkside Hall. Even if a character goes barefoot, the cosplayer must wear shoes.
• No costume may generate odor, smoke, or fog, or have overly bright or flashing lights.
• Costumes and daily wear shall not expose the body in such a way as to be deemed indecent exposure under California and City of San Jose ordinances. Private parts must be covered in an opaque material and not be subject to slippage or gaps. Liquid Latex or other conformal body coatings will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
• Official flags must be respected, and cannot be worn as part of a costume. They must be on a flagpole. Home-made or unofficial flags are exempt from this rule.
• All costumes with limited visibility and/or movement must have a handler to assist with crowd navigation and safety. This also applies to costumes with large wings or other oversized elements. • No costumes may be realistic depictions of American Law Enforcement or current American Military uniforms, or have the words POLICE, POLICIA, SWAT, FBI, DEA, CIA, or any other official Government Agency names or initials on them.

This year, we're going beyond just quizzes to all sorts of games. Some of our games will be on-the-buzzer, where those with the fastest reaction will have an advantage. Some of our games will need you to guess answers from our surveys. We're also going to have picture rounds, category rounds, timed rounds, and maybe even a drawing round or two. Contestants will be quizzed on a medley of topics, including anime, video games, and general knowledge. A single game might run from Bleach to Bayonetta to BTS, from Full Metal Alchemist to Final Fantasy to French Fries. Have you been keeping track of all of the anime series during lockdown? Are you a fighting game specialist? Do you know your world capitals? You never know what might come up during the games. Players that score well can walk away with prizes, such as plushies, gift cards, and figures. In addition, each day concludes with a jackpot round. Contestants can win hundreds of dollars in actual cash if they are fast enough and lucky enough. We've given away hundreds during each show before, and we're looking to do it again! We select all of our contestants from the audience, so just show up, and you can play and win! Come on up, and show off your knowledge! • Please notify a staffer if a hand sanitizer station is not functional or empty. • Enhanced Cleaning: Gaming Hall staff and equipment partners will be cleaning input devices, games, and stage microphones to the best of our staff’s abilities. • For tabletop games, we recommend using hand sanitizer before and after, since it is difficult to use cleaning products on the delicate pieces of many board games. • eGaming: “BYOC” or Bring Your Own Controller/Joystick/Input Device, etc.: • Attendees may use their own controller or input devices for certain console and PC gaming stations. Please ask the eGaming front desk for more information and permission. • The PC Gaming area has limited “BYOC” support, to ensure equipment stability. • Please ask an eGaming staffer for help for “Bring Your Own” audio devices on PC’s at the PC Gaming desk.

Do you have what it takes to entertain, amuse, and amaze our audience (and judges) with outlandish acts of comedy that defy explanation? Sign-ups are open at the Karaoke Room all weekend before the event. Bring your weirdest concept to the stage, and be ready to laugh at yourself!

Dance Rules All FanimeCon rules and code of conduct apply to attendees of the FanimeCon Dance, with the following additions: • Attendees may be subject to a precursory security check. • Once you leave the Dance event area, you will have to wait in line to re-enter. • No outside food or beverages are allowed in the Dance area. Sealed containers (even purchased in the Dealer’s Hall) will not be allowed in. Water is available inside the Dance area. • Only CLEAR bags will be allowed inside the Dance room. • Cosplay is acceptable, but large props should not be used as part of a dance move. • Physical and/or verbal harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes taunting. • Extreme dance moves that may result in harm to the dancer or spectators are not allowed (i.e. headspins, flips, backflips, etc). • Chemical-based glow products (i.e. glow sticks, necklaces, or bracelets) are not allowed in the Dance, but LED-based lighting products are allowed as long as they do not represent an immediate danger to others (i.e. LED poi globes). • No “laser gloves” or laser pointers will be allowed. • Only authorized personnel are allowed on the stages.
FanimeCon COVID-19 policy will be strictly enforced in the Dance Area. If you are found to be in violation of these policies you will be asked to leave with or without warning. Capacity will be limited during this time and doors to the outside Terrace will remain open to provide ventilation. Social distancing will be recommended in the Dance area and you may be asked to spread out. Dance staff or Security will give you instructions, and you will be required to follow all directions given or be asked to leave. Private Event Notice: The FanimeCon Dance is a private event hosted for the attendees of FanimeCon. An official FanimeCon badge is required for entry. The 2022 Black & White Ball Sunday 6:00 pm — 12:00 am Marriott, San Jose Ballroom It’s time for an evening of elegance and fun at the Black & White Ball! Join us on Sunday night for an exciting evening by wearing your best formal wear, formal cosplay, or lolita fashion along with your favorite dancing shoes. Get excited for great music, photography, and (of course) hours of dancing! Want even more dancing? There will be dancing all weekend, from performances and challenges at Stage Zero to a Decompression Dance Party – an informal social dance on Saturday for everyone to have fun and practice what they learned in a casual setting. There’s no need to dress up, but dress code rules regarding heels still apply (see below). Not sure how to dance? The Black & White Ball offers group dance lessons every day leading up to the ball! Private lessons will also be offered on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the weekend, so sign up during the con! Don’t have something that fits within the dress code?
