19 TAP to BCD Converter General Description The best way to monitor the transformer TAP position with IEC 61850 based IED is using binary coded decimal (BCD) dry contact as an input of indication of TAP position. Unfortunately, not all, even old designed transformers do not provide this facility. Usually they provide 19 TAP dry contact facility as indication. This device convert 19 TAP dry contact to binary coded decimal (BCD) and can be mounted as well as in transformers local control or control panels.
