The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a programme of the Schwarzkopf Foundation. GENERAL INFORMATION WHAT? The 5th Training Camp of EYP - Ukraine will be held in the seashore city Odesa, between the 12th and the 15th of August, 2021. It will gather around 70 participants from Germany. Russia, Belarus, Geargia, Armian and Azerbaijan. The project seeks to develop

soft skills of European youth by organising a platform for intercultural

dialogue and sharing diverse ideas and practices among young people during 4-day training courses and evening activities. It is a combination of informal education in diverse teams and cultural activities with sincere talks along the seashore. Training Camp is a non-formal education platform for future participants of EYP events. It will prepare them to effectively perform at future EYP events as an official: organiser, academic or media team member. The main training course encompasses 4 different fields: Project Management, Team Management, Media and Photography and National Committee Development. Each participant (trainee) will have a chance to choose one of the tracks to focus on. Additionally, they will also be able to visit other tracks if they wish, therefore getting a broader perspective and knowledge from different areas. Participants of the 5th Training Camp will also be able to develop their soft skills and learn more about active participation in decision-making within their local communities. Apart from the main training course, the 5th Training Camp will compromise different evening non-formal activities. With participants arriving from different countries, social and economic backgrounds, we hope that the evening events will help participants improve their cultural sensitivity and prepare them to work in a diverse environment. The project 5th Training Camp of EYP Ukraine is supported by the Federal Foreign Office in the frame of Civil Society Cooperation project “Youth Dialogue for Strong Civic Spaces”.

WHERE? Our main venue is the Logovo hostel. It will serve us as a place for trainings, accommodation and having the best time of your summer. The venue is located on the seashore city Odesa, the most popular tourist destination in the South of Ukraine. It will warmly welcome us already in less than a week. The average temperature in August is above 25 degrees, the air is humid and the weather might be rainy.

THE TRAINING TRACKS

12-15 AUGUST 2021

PROJECT MANAGEMENT As a network for young people by young people, thousands of volunteers are involved as project managers, organising hundreds of annual events in their spare time. This training track will provide knowledge on the discipline of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria. It gives valuable experience that helps to organise and manage EYP projects in Member countries. The training module on “Fundraising” was defined as the most important for the current training track. As a network of independent organisations, EYP raises funds to support its various activities from a range of different actors and partners. The trainees of the Project Management track will learn the basics and the best modern European practices of business communication, grant writing, and local fundraising.

TEAM MANAGEMENT At each EYP session, a group of young moderators work with the different committees, to prepare topical materials, run teambuilding, facilitate discussions and chair the parliamentary assembly. EYP moderators, therefore, take part in group facilitation trainings before every event and are guided by experienced trainers throughout the events. The trainees of the team management track will be provided with the knowledge on team facilitation and leading a team. The track includes numerous modules about choosing and preparing a topic, planning teamwork, gaining leadership skills etc. to make one’s chairing experience as smooth as possible.

Using social media, online campaigning tools, and press work, our volunteers are actively communicating about our aims, projects and mission. In order to develop their communication in a coherent manner and to share knowledge about new techniques and channels to communicate, trainings on PR & communication are a substantial part of the EYP training courses. Members of the media track will receive practical skills of raising social awareness through social and media campaigns. They will be taught how to cooperate in a media team, film and shoot photos properly, practice video and photo editing. Moreover, they will learn EYP policies of media content, that can be provided at every event.

NATIONAL COMMITTEE DEVELOPMENT At each EYP session, a group of young moderators work with the different committees, to prepare topical materials, run teambuilding, facilitate discussions and chair the parliamentary assembly. TRAVEL DETAILS Odesa has a lot of opportunities and good infrastructure to get to this town by plane as well by bus or train. Getting to Odessa/Kyiv by plane Although Kyiv is quite far from Odessa, it can be easier and cheaper to find the plane tickets to the capital city. There are two international airports: Kyiv-Boryspil (KBP) and Kyiv-Schuljana (IEV). KBP is the most popular one and hosts regular flights on more than 90 destinations. KyivBoryspil airport will most likely be the best and cheapest option. Odessa also has an international airport: Odesa International airport (ODS). Right now, over 20 airlines operate in Odessa, therefore opening a wide array of opportunities for people from other countries to visit this city. Getting to Odessa by train/bus If you choose KBP as your destination airport, there are a lot of buses that depart from the airport and go to other cities. It is usually not hard to find a bus to Odessa and it will cost about 500 UAH. It is also relatively fast and will take approximately 8 hours. It will be much harder and time-consuming to use the train, as there is no railway station in Boryspil, so you will need to take the Boryspil Express to Kyiv and make a change to a train that goes to Odessa. The train and bus station are located in the south of Odessa’s old town. Moreover, from this station you will be able to get by city bus to the venue.
