Our fully-licensed TREASURES nursery includes cheery playrooms with fish tanks and lots of toys to delight young kids. An attached playground gives toddlers room to play, infant swings on the center’s screened porch soothe babies in the fresh mountain air, and caregivers are always ready to provide a hug or a cuddle. Offered daily, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Advance reservations required on a space available basis. Regular price $85 per child per day. Morning half-days also available. Lunch included. HIKING BADGE PROGRAM

Participate in our Hiking Badge Program and earn one of our three badges - Morse, Sterling, or Madonna. Each badge represents a different level of challenge with Madonna being the most difficult. New this year, kids have the opportunity to earn hiking badges outside of our Summer Fun University (SFU) camp programs. Join any of our guided walking and hiking programs to work towards earning one of the three badges. Your SFU counselor or hiking guide will provide you with a Hiking Badge Achievement Log and sign off on your achievement. Ask your SFU counselor, hiking guide, or staff at the Activities Desk in the Village Center for more information! Ages 5-17.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR PICK UP: In our licensed programs, Discovery Dynamos (ages 3-4) and Trail Blazers (ages 5-6), we require the parent/guardian or designated person picking up the child to show a form of identification. HOW TO FIND YOUR CHILD DURING THE DAY: The best time to check on your child is at lunch time. Check with your child’s counselor for the specific time and location. The Guest Service Desk or the camp meeting area in the lower level of the Meeting House have copies of the daily itineraries for each individual group. Call ext. 1137 or stop by to inquire where the group is at a particular time. Itineraries are available by 11:00 am each day. For your convenience, we invite your children to participate in our optional children’s program lunch at an additional fee of $6.15 per child, (Discovery ages 3 & 4, Trail Blazers ages 5 & 6) and $7.25 per child (Adventure Rangers ages 7-10, Notch Squad ages 11-15) per day, plus tax. SIGNING OUT OF CAMP: Camper registration cards have a check box to indicate parental permission for campers to leave on their own. If “Yes” is circled, we will need to know what time of day this applies to. If “No” is circled, campers may only leave with a parent or designated guardian. All children must be picked up by the designated time the program ends. *Minimum sign up required for select activities.

Discovery Dynamos ages 3 & 4 years

RELAX, CREATE, DISCOVER. Dynamos explore a unique theme each day with fresh activities to give children a chance to discover new facets of themselves and the world around them. In our experience, offering 3 & 4 year olds a special focus each day helps them succeed and enjoy their day away from mom and dad. Children must be completely potty trained and out of diapers and pull-ups to participate in the Dynamo program. Daily activities: Every day kids will play at one of our water facilities, re-energize with snack time, and relax during story and quiet time. During water play, groups will get to enjoy one of our wading pools carefully supervised by lifeguards and counselors.

SUNDAY / Creative Crafts – We will use our

imaginations to create projects using a variety of materials such as clay, paint, and recycled items.

FRIDAY / Rockin’ Rhythms and Musical Fun – We’ll start the day with a sing-along with the Friendly Pirate, followed by an afternoon of play and fun.

SATURDAY / The Great Reservoir Adventure – We’ll learn about frogs through puppet games, fun with different tools for measuring, mixing, building and stories, and arts & crafts. Then we’ll hike to the Village blending of solids and liquids. Final creations will be used Reservoir to see frogs and tadpoles up close, and explore for playing, eating, or building! the nature of a forest pond. TUESDAY / Mogul Mouse & Billy Bob Bear Mystery – Mogul Mouse & Billy Bob Bear are lost! We’ll follow clues around the Village to find them. MONDAY / Blend, build, mix and match – We’ll play

WEDNESDAY / Gotta Move – This will be an actionpacked day filled with running and jumping as we test physical abilities and build self-confidence by going through a mini-obstacle course and enjoying other movement activities. We’ll finish the day watching an exciting demonstration by the 802 Disc Dogs. THURSDAY / Theme Parade Day & Creative Fun –

This day will be focused on making costumes for our afternoon theme day parade. (All parents are invited to the parade on the Village Green at 3:30 pm.)

Trail Blazers ages 5 & 6 years

Young campers begin to explore the world of Smugglers’ Notch in our Trail Blazers program. This all-day program combines challenges with fun physical activity and introduces some of the options offered in the Adventure Rangers program while still providing the opportunity for low-key activities that 5 & 6 year olds sometimes need. Children who pass our swim test, can choose to join the swim group. Groups with non-swimmers will get a chance to enjoy the Turtle Slide and play in our Little Smugglers’ Lagoon, where the water is 2½ feet deep and children are carefully supervised by counselors and lifeguards. The Splashville Splash Pad at Notchville Park is also a fun destination for non-swimmers. Daily activities: Swim time, games, arts & crafts, hiking, snacks, stories, and quiet time. We try our best to group 5 & 6 year olds based on their age and energy level.

SUNDAY / Low Ropes Challenge – Hike to the Low

Ropes Course for a day of team building experiences. Campers will have the opportunity to stop and explore at our Village Reservoir on the way.

MONDAY / Fun on the Green – Enjoy a variety of different field games on our Village Green.

TUESDAY / Creature Feature – Each week our

resident professor will bring a different exotic animal to visit the children for a unique learning experience.

FRIDAY / Bootlegger Madness – Spend the afternoon at Bootleggers’ Basin. Groups will be shuttled down after lunch and spend time playing games in the fields and exploring the area with bug nets, magnifying glasses, and view boxes. They even get to spy on the frogs and the fish with our underwater camera! SATURDAY / Choose Your Own Adventure – Choose between a variety of lawn games, boat races or an introduction to disc golf.

WEDNESDAY / Costume Creation – Use creative energy to help design and build the costumes they will wear in the parade on Thursday. Finish the day watching the exciting disc dog show with the 802 Disc Dogs. THURSDAY / Theme Day Parade – Spend a portion of the day adding the final touches to their parade costumes. The day is then wrapped up with our theme parade on the Village Green. (All parents are invited to the parade on the Village Green at 3:30 pm.)

Adventure Rangers ages 7 - 10 years

This energetic age range is divided into groups of 7 & 8 year olds and 9 & 10 year olds who enjoy a full slate of adventure activities! At Smuggs we give 7 - 10 year olds freedom to choose the activities they like – every day! Campers select a main focus each day; plus, every day includes swimming, team building, and other activities. Wednesday is Bootleggers’ Basin Day! Adventure Rangers will hike to our beautiful Bootleggers’ Basin. They’ll spend the day swimming and participating in activities in the fields around Bootleggers’ including our obstacle race course that weaves through the woods. Please order a bag lunch from your counselor on Tuesday or bring your own.

Recreational Games: Play a wide assortment of games which could include kickball, dodgeball, SPUD, tag games, kick the can, and more!

Sports Galore: Play disc golf, basketball, street hockey, volleyball, shuffleboard, ultimate Frisbee, and more during this day for sports lovers!

Bootlegger Team Challenge: Participate in an assortment of team oriented field games on our green space overlooking Bootleggers’ Basin or try our wooded Obstacle Race Course.

Bug Hunt: Using our collecting equipment and nature guides, learn about the amazing diversity of insects in a wild meadow, and try to examine some up close and personal!

Brewster River Gorge: Travel off site to explore the awe-inspiring Brewster River Gorge. This is a gentle hike ending at a waterfall that careens through a nearby canyon!

Forest Quest: Hike through our maze of beautiful woodland trails, learning new plants and animals and playing games on the way!

Float your Boat: A fun and exciting day building different types of boats out of new and recycled materials. Once built, the race is on between all campers in the group as they test them out!

Marker Tie Dye & Friendship Bracelets: Try our new spin on tie dye using Sharpie marker design techniques. After that, dive into more traditional arts & crafts relaxing on the shore of the beautiful Bootleggers’ Basin!

Glowing Curiosity: Spend the day creating cool glowing projects that you can take home to show off!

Ages 7 - 15 // Monday - Thursday // Check-in time: 9:15 am – 9:45 am Program meets at the Summer Fun University Stage on the Village Green. $85 per child, per day. Optional camp lunch program: $7.25 + tax or bring a bag lunch. Monday — Meet, Greet, and Move: Get acquainted with the group by sharing songs, dances, and skits that you know from home. Begin planning for your performance on Thursday. Tuesday — Decision Day: After a day and a half of dancing, singing, and acting you should have a good feel for what the group strengths are. Final decisions are made for Thursday’s performance.

Wednesday — Tune-Up Day: Work on nailing down your performance for Thursday while relaxing by the beautiful Bootleggers’ Basin! Thursday — Dress Rehearsal & Performance: Dress rehearsal, theme parade teaser performance at 3:45 pm. Finish the day with a performance at the Vermont Country Fair at 5:00 pm.


Adventure Rangers ages 7 - 10 years

Offered daily: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Meeting location: Adventure Tent on the Village Green Check-in time: 9:15 am – 9:45 am Prior to 10:00 am camp departure, groups play games, ice breakers, and team building games. Program cost: $85 per child, per day. Optional camp lunch program: $7.25 + tax or bring a bag lunch.

THURSDAY Low Ropes: Learn & play some unique games working our way through the woods around Smugglers’, end up at our Low Ropes Course to practice some balance skills. Climb It & Climate: This will be an all-day hike on one of our challenging mountain trails, and will include some sky science such as cloud and weather identification using scientific instruments. Into the Wild: Use recycled materials to create a variety of projects! Projects include plastic bag totes, journals, leaf prints, candle making, and other earth art, artsy boxes, and Chia Pets!

FRIDAY The Great Adventure Race: Friday ties the whole

week together when all of the Adventure Rangers get together to participate in the Great Adventure Race. This day-long race incorporates all the programs in the morning and then heats up after lunch, winding throughout the Village. It challenges campers to come together as a team to solve riddles, get past obstacles and win challenges. Swimming is built into the race! In the end, everyone’s a winner!

SATURDAY/SUNDAY Choose your Adventure!

On weekends we combine all the programs so every camper will be able to choose from a variety of activities which may include parachutes, ice cream making, boat making, GPS tracking, nature hikes, field games, and challenge games. This is a great chance for campers to experience all of our exciting programs so they can then choose a specific program for the upcoming week or when they return next Summer.

OVERNIGHT ADVENTURE

Ages 7-12 // Wednesday // Check-in: 4:45 pm - 5:00 pm $49 per child // $40 for each additional child Meets at the Notch Squad Tent next to Teen Alley Come spend an overnight with your favorite counselors and new friends at the Madonna Base Lodge. Start off with a pizza dinner followed by a dance party with Goodtime Charlie, a bonfire with s’mores, and tons of games. The evening will wind down with the showing of a kid-friendly movie. Sleeping bags are provided. Please bring your own pillow, pjs, warm sweater or sweatshirt and any special snacks. Campers can be picked up at the Welcome sign in the Village Center at 7:30 am the following morning. Every camper will receive a one-of-a-kind Overnight t-shirt. Sign up at the Guest Service Desk by 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Additional child rate applies only to children on the same reservation.

Notch Squad ages 11 - 15 years

Notch Squad groups have the flexibility to choose what they want to do throughout the day. Campers pick the counselor and itinerary that most appeals to them and go from there. If the group decides to switch it up mid-day, they will have the power to make it happen! Every day will include swimming and games. Tuesday is Bootleggers’ Basin day! The Notch Squad will hike to our beautiful Bootleggers’ Basin and spend the day swimming and participating in activities in the fields around Bootleggers’ including our obstacle race course that weaves through the woods. Please order a bag lunch from your counselor on Monday or bring your own.

Forest Games: Kick the week off with adventures in the woods. Play eagle eye, camouflage, capture the flag, and all sorts of other games designed for forest fun. After lunch try out some of our unique sporting options, like disc golf where campers can explore the Brewster Ridge Disc Golf Course.

Obstacle Race Course & Field Games: Spend the afternoon at Bootleggers’ Basin playing field games and trying out our obstacle race course.

Super Sports Day: Compete in a variety of sporting options, from volleyball and basketball, to street hockey and disc golf! More sports to choose from than a person can play in one day!

Living with Nature: Learn about modern camping by heading out to the woods for the day. Activities will include setting up a campsite, finding and using natural materials that can be found in the forest, and learning the principles of “leave no trace” while investigating the forest.

Ancient Forest & Beaver Pond: Spend the morning traveling to and exploring a nearby ancient forest. Investigate a nearby beaver colony made up of dozens of pools, dams, and a big beaver lodge, all while learning about one of the most intriguing natural inhabitants of our area.

Brewster River Gorge: Explore the stunning Brewster River Gorge on a gentle hike to a waterfall that rushes through a nearby canyon!

Tie Dye & Stencils: The possibilities with tie dye are endless. Come try making new patterns and designs with a t-shirt provided by Smuggs! While your shirt is soaking you can try your hand at stencils!

Snap Back Trucker Hats: Come try your hand at spray painting and stencil design to make your very own unique design. Wear your piece home that day!

Up Cycle: Bring new life to old commonly used items. Recreate t-shirts, tyvek wallets, mini terrariums and so much more. Plus, get a chance to design and create costumes and sets for Sound & Stage productions!

Notch Squad ages 11 - 15 years

Woodland Adventure & Low Ropes: Learn & play some unique games working our way through the forest, end up at our Low Ropes Course to practice some balance skills in preparation for the High Ropes Course on Friday!

High Ropes Adventure: Campers challenge their mind and body as they maneuver around obstacles on our High Ropes Course.

Sterling Pond Hike: Take on a challenging hike on the Long Trail through imposing geological formations, and offering stunning views of the Notch.

Hogback Diversity Hike: Hike a section of Vermont’s Long Trail, finishing with a suspension bridge crossing the Lamoille River. This hike will focus on identifying many of the different types of biodiversity in our pocket of Vermont including trees, plants, and birds.

Choose your Adventure! Duct Tape Madness: Learn creative ways to make unique projects that you can wear and use. Duct tape bracelets, rings, wallets, earrings, book covers, bags, and more!

Who Brought the Cool Kid? Make your own buttons to add style to whatever you can stick them on! The rest of the day is spent on a counselor’s choice project.

PIZZA & BONFIRE PARTY Ages 13-15 // Tuesday Check-in: 4:45 pm - 5:00 pm $29 per child, $20 for each additional child Meets at the Notch Squad Tent next to Teen Alley. Come spend an evening with your favorite Notch Squad counselors at the Madonna Base Lodge. The night will start off with a pizza dinner followed by floor hockey, dodge ball, other outdoor games and music. The Notch Squad counselors will build a bonfire and campers will be able to roast marshmallows and make s’mores. Please bring sturdy shoes and a warm sweatshirt or sweater. After the party, campers can be picked up at the Welcome sign in the Village Center at 9:30 pm. Every camper will receive a one-of-a-kind t-shirt. Sign up at the Guest Service Desk by 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Additional child rate applies only to children on the same reservation and in the same age group.

Mountain Explorers ages 16 - 17 years The Mountain Explorers daily program starts with a meet and greet session where you get to see what’s in store each day. A sampling of activities includes: kayaking, swimming, climbing wall, Low & High Ropes Courses, tie-dye, hikes and off-site waterfall adventures. Program participants have the freedom to come and go as they please. There is a 15% lunch discount offered at the Green Mountain Deli for those who sign up for their activities during the morning check-in. Check-in begins each day at 10:00 am at the Outer Limits Teen Center where there will be postings of the events happening each day, as well as those occurring throughout the week. Interested participants will be able to sign up for some events in advance, while new events and offerings will become available each morning.

EXPLORER BBQ Ages 16-17 // Tuesday 5:00 pm $29 per person // Meets at the Outer Limits Teen Center Enjoy an evening out at Rum Runners’ Hideaway. Along with a delicious barbecue dinner there will be a pre-dinner swim with fun on the Aqua Jump. Out of the water there will be games, snacks, and a campfire. We will be listening and playing music so bring your iPods and any instruments you’d like to jam with. Teens return to the Village between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Don’t miss out on this fun evening! Sign up at the Guest Service Desk, ext. 1293 or the Tennis & Family Fun Center, ext. 1173 by 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Minimum of 8 people required for BBQ to run. (Weather permitting) EXPLORER MOVIE NIGHT Ages 16-17 // Wednesday 5:00 pm $20 per person // Meets at the Outer Limits Teen Center Catch the latest flick at the Essex Cinemas! A shuttle departs from the Outer Limits Teen Center at approximately 5:00 pm and returns between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm depending on the length of the movie. Counselors will designate two current movies for the campers to choose from no later than Tuesday. Includes transportation, movie ticket, small popcorn, and soda. Space is limited – advance registration and signed permission slip from parents are required. Sign up at the Guest Service Desk, ext. 1293 or the Tennis & Family Fun Center, ext. 1173 by 12:00 noon on Wednesday. No refunds after 12:00 noon on Wednesday. The Smugglers’ Notch Adaptive Program (SNAP) is dedicated to providing therapeutic recreation for children and adults of all abilities in a supportive environment. SNAP experiences are tailored to meet the needs and goals of each individual. The ratio of counselor to camper is based on the individual needs. The Summer SNAP Program offers a variety of adventure activities... • swimming • watersliding • guided hiking • sing-alongs • arts & crafts • kayaking • horseback riding • nature time • climbing wall We also offer an inclusion program in our daily children’s programs. This gives a child with a disability the opportunity to socialize with peers while still maintaining the support he or she needs through the SNAP program.

Offered daily: 9:15 am - 4:00 pm Meeting location: The Lower Meeting House Check-in time: Full day - 9:15 am Half day - 9:15 am or 1:00 pm Program cost: Full day SNAP program, 9:15 am - 4:00 pm, $165 per person, per day. Half-day program, 9:15 am - 12:15 pm or 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, $99 per person, per half-day. Optional camp lunch program: $6.15 + tax (ages 3 - 6 years) $7.25 + tax (ages 7 - adult) or bring a bag lunch.

Swim lessons are available with Swim Whisperer trained instructors. This is a technique used in teaching adaptive swim lessons. We offer half-hour swim lessons for $50 per person, per lesson. A special Autism Mountain Camp is offered selected weeks during Summer programming. Activities may include sailing on Lake Champlain with Vermont Adaptive, horseback riding, llama treks, ArborTrek’s Treetop Obstacle Course, Eurobungy and more. Specialty Programs High Adventure Experience Camp, ages 9 - 17 years

High Adventure Experience Camp Kids looking for adventure can mix it up with our High Adventure Experience Camp. Campers will challenge themselves with the most exciting activities Smuggs has to offer! 5-day Program Schedule:

MONDAY • Experience our exciting Via Ferrata with Peak

Expeditions, which includes a waterfall climb and rappelling. Campers will also get to participate in our High Ropes challenge course.

TUESDAY • Learn how to rappel and rock climb at some of

Vermont’s beautiful climbing spots. Professional guides from Peak Expeditions will lead rock climbing expeditions to some of the most pristine rock climbing locations around the area.

WEDNESDAY • Enjoy a scenic kayaking adventure guided by our experienced counselors and picnic lunch.

THURSDAY • Aerial trekking at the ArborTrek Treetop

Obstacle Course, where campers navigate their way through 80+ elements, as well as climb our rock wall.

FRIDAY • Spend the day at Notchville Park! Climb Raven’s Roost climbing tower, swing on the Giant Swing, soar high into the sky on our Eurobungy, and swim in the pools at Notchville Park. In the afternoon, head up to Rum Runners’ Reservoir for exploration, fun and relaxation in the cool mountain water.

Specialty Programs Survival Camp, ages 9 - 17 years

Survival Camp Try it if you dare! Challenge and surprise yourself in nature by joining our Survival Camp. During this five-day journey, campers will learn an array of wilderness survival skills as well as the modern camping and backpacking methods and tactics that complement them. Operating on a weekly schedule based on wilderness survival needs, each day has a specific focus. MONDAY: Shelter TUESDAY: Water WEDNESDAY: Fire THURSDAY: Food FRIDAY: Get Lost! Find your way back to the Resort using maps, compasses and the skills you’ve learned throughout the week. Daily activities include: • Specific wilderness survival skills • Specific modern camping skills • Plant and animal identification • Tactics for moving, tracking, and escaping in the wilderness • Native American games, stories, and heritage • Hiking, swimming and journaling

SURVIVAL CAMP OVERNIGHT Ages 9 - 17 // Thursday // Check-in: 5:00 pm // $49 per child Meets at the Notch Squad Tent next to Teen Alley. Campers put all their skills together for a night of fun on the mountain. Campers will hike to our Survival campsite where they will use a combination of skills they learned throughout the week to make a fire, cook their dinner, and set up a functional campsite! This overnight meets at 5:00 pm and campers get picked up around 8:00 am the next morning. Campers must attend at least one full day of Survival Camp to attend the overnight. Trip must have a minimum of 4 participants to run.

2 DAY/2 NIGHT BACKPACKING EXPLORATION TRIP Ages 13 - 17 // Wednesday & Thursday Check-in: 8:45 am Wednesday, return Friday morning $289 per child // Meets at the Notch Squad Tent next to Teen Alley. Campers will depart on Wednesday for Vermont’s famed Long Trail, a section of which runs over the spine of our Sterling and Madonna mountains! Starting in beautiful Smugglers’ Notch, the group will climb up to the Sterling Pond shelter where they will make camp for the night. Thursday is spent hiking on the Long Trail to either Beaver Meadow Lodge or Bear Hollow Shelter for the night. Friday morning the group will be up early for a short stroll out to the road where they will be picked up and driven back to the resort for a 9:30 am pick up at the Notch Squad tent. Campers will be carrying portions of their supplies for sleeping and eating and will be accompanied by two fully trained guides with their Wilderness First Aid Certifications. There are privies at both shelter sites. Trip must have a minimum of 4 participants to run.

Specialty Programs Junior Tennis Camp & Skateboard Camp ages 9 - 17 years

Junior Tennis Camp

Tennis is a lifelong activity. Our camp focuses both on introducing new players to the game as well as working with current players. We provide all the necessary equipment and use a variety of drills and game based activities to engage players. Groups are based on ability level and age. One ½-hour semi-private lesson and pool time are included. Available June 16 - August 20.

Skateboard Camp

Whether you are just getting started or are an experienced skater, you’ll step it up a notch with the help of our pros at our skatepark. Focus on the fundamentals of balance, position, stopping, falling techniques, and skating safety, while learning new tricks. Camp includes: • Skilled instruction at Smuggs skatepark • Individual skill assessment • Off-site skatepark session • Lunch & pool time Skateboard Camp may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Disc Golf Camp

Try out the fastest growing sport in the country! This three day program will leave campers eager for more, includes their own disc, and provides information on local courses to play when they return home. Set on one of the nation’s finest courses, Brewster Ridge, the camp follows a curriculum designed by two-time state champion Jeff Spring. Every camper will have fun and improve while spending time in our beautiful Smugglers’ woods! Sign up for one day, or the three day program!

Mountain Bike Camp

Mountain Bike Camp is for all skill levels, from campers looking to learn the basics, or experienced riders looking for new challenges and experiences on our mountain bike facility. New this year, students will have access to our Sir Henry’s MTB skills park, where they can spend time practicing on elements they’ll find when trail riding. Riders will get to explore our trail network where they can ride at their own pace with others of similar age and ability levels. Our mountain bike pros will be with the group every step of the way, helping campers progress their skills to the next level. Clinics and group rides are also available for adults and kids.
