Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Creekside Gahanna

Two major attractions are set to open in Columbus in 2014. Safari Africa will open in the summer of 2014 at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The 43-acre savanna will feature cheetahs, lions, warthogs and monkeys, along with a communal watering hole for giraffes, zebras, meerkats and other African animals. Highlights will include feeding the giraffes and flying high on the zipline tour. Auto Racing will come to Columbus at SPARC, the Sports Pavilion & Automotive Research Complex opening just outside of downtown Columbus in 2014. NASCAR owner, driver and two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip is a partner in the new half-mile race track and automotive research and technology center.

DELICIOUS COLUmbUS Food critics from around the nation are discovering Columbus’ culinary scene, with the Washington Post calling Columbus “A Certified Food Lovers’ Town.” Experience the many flavors of Columbus on this three-day tour.  Day One

10:30 a.m.: Take a guided tour of Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, then make your own wood-fired pizza creation in their community garden. Select from a variety of seasonal toppings and sauces already prepared and prepped. 2 p.m.: Learn the basics of mead making and sample work in progress at Brothers Drake Meadery, then head to nearby Middle West Spirits for a taste of their signature vodkas and whiskeys. 4:30 p.m.: Explore the vast collection of art galleries and boutiques in the Short north arts District, known as Columbus’ “Art & Soul.” 5:30 p.m.: Enjoy dinner at the historic north Market. 10 a.m.: At the Columbus Museum of art, see works by the masters, including Monet, Matisse, Picasso, Renoir and O’Keeffe. 11:45 a.m.: Step inside a painting at the Topiary Park, a re-creation in topiary of Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” 12:30 p.m.: Enjoy a hearty meal inside the Ohio Statehouse, served in the tradition of Miss Emma Jones, a socialite who frequently hosted Ohio’s legislators and Union Army officers. Following lunch, a guided tour brings history to life as you meet prominent figures from Ohio’s past. 3:30 p.m.: Learn the history of Columbus’ earliest residents in German Village, then see homes and gardens on a guided tour.

After choosing your favorite aromas, create a custom fragrance candle. It only needs an hour to firm—more than enough time to pick out your favorite wine at neighboring House wine. 4:30 p.m.: Stroll throughout worthington’s historic district, where you’ll find boutiques tucked between restored buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

10 a.m.: Your greeting cards will always have the right message after you create cards using the latest designs and embellishments at archiver’s at Easton Town Center.
