My vision is to return our bodies to their original state of health through massage, esthetics and organic treatments. Organic products help to establish the body’s natural state and combat the barrage of toxins we are exposed to every day. Holding a college degree in Exercise Science, I am both nationally and state certified in massage therapy as well as state certified in esthetics. I believe in actively educating and helping my clients to correct harmful habits in order to lead a more healthy and healing lifestyle. Spa living is a day-to-day experience, not an occasional practice.

Oral Cancer Awareness The Numbers • Close to 40,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or pharyngeal cancer this year. • Slightly more than half of the individuals newly-diagnosed will be alive in 5 years - not because it is hard to diagnose or treat, but due to the cancer being routinely discovered too late in it’s development. The Risk Factors • Previous history of oral cancer or precancerous lesions • Tobacco use • Alcohol abuse • Human papillomavirus (HPV) 16 infection • Marijuana use • Age 40+ • Family history of oral cancer • 25% of all oral cancer victims don’t smoke or have other risk factors. It is very important to see your dentist regularly and talk about your risk factors and routine screening. Early detection saves lives! Source: Dr. Nicole Dahlkemper and OralCancerFoundation.org

Protect Eyes and Lips Protect eyes from UVA light damage with sunglasses that absorb and block 99 - 100% of UVA/UVB light and shield the eyes, eyelids and surrounding areas. The more skin you cover, the better. Glosses and lip balm should contain SPF 15+; skin cancers on the lips are often more aggressive.

HPV is so common that at least 50% of sexually active men and women get it at some point in their lives. While there is no treatment for the virus itself, you can prevent the effects and lower your chances of getting HPV by practicing safe sex and by getting vaccinated. Go to www.theHPVtest.com to learn more. And talk with your health care provider to find out about HPV testing and vaccinations. - JENNIFER HEINEMANN, MD; Lowcountry Women’s Specialist

“Do not bother with crowded parking garages and the walk to venues. We use Black Cab and Green Taxi, which I booked days ahead; well worth the $8 fare in the city. We could also count on being there on time. Properly hydrate before the show starts. In some performances, you might not be able to get up for an hour, so think comfort.” - DeeDee Arthur, Enthusiastic Patron, Every Busy Woman Winner of Spoleto Tickets - 2011 “Keep in mind that there are tons of performances on weeknights, so you don’t have to limit your planning to just the weekends. Save on service charges by purchasing tickets in advance in person at the festival box office. Most Piccolo Spoleto shows are general admission so arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to get good seats together. Build in a little extra time for parking during the festival, but don’t let it discourage you from attending festival events. It’s the best time of the year to be downtown! Check your cellphone at least 3 times before a show starts to make sure it is off; you don’t want to be ‘that person.’” - Brandy Sullivan, Owner/Performer/Producer, Theatre 99 and Piccolo Fringe Festival "The Spoleto Festival ticket kiosk in the uber air conditioned Gaillard Auditorium lobby is the best place to buy tickets. You avoid the fees, have better seating selection and have access to insider knowledge. Most of the staff have attended previews or rehearsals, and will make recommendations. Carry cash. Many local venues only take cash at the door. Check out the Artist Talks with Martha Tiechner. These are usually free and feature internationally recognized performers." - Colleen Reilly, Director, Kaleidoscope Arts Festival; Assistant Professor, Theatre at Slippery Rock University; House Manager, Piccolo Fringe at Theatre 99

Afraid to talk to your teen about sex? Believe it or not they WANT you to talk with them, but remember: talk WITH them, not AT them. Start by asking about their friends; they’ll be more talkative if the spotlight is not on them, and it’s a good way to learn about people in their circle of influence. Cake Traditions Originally, the wedding cake was not eaten, but thrown at the bride! It developed as one of the many fertility traditions surrounding a wedding. Wedding guests in the Middle Ages brought cakes and stacked them on top of each other. If the stack stayed upright when the bride and groom kissed over the stack, it was considered lucky. This is most-likely where the bride-and-groom-topped wedding cake originated. In the 19th century, the bottom tier was for the wedding reception, the middle tier was given away and the top was saved for the christening of the couple’s first child. That tradition continues today when newlyweds save the top tier of their cake to enjoy on their first anniversary.

Make sure that your wedding coordinator or several friends are helping to make sure the job gets done on the big day. ❏ Tables and chairs are set up correctly at ceremony site and/or reception location. ❏ Mark the rows or seats that are reserved for family at the ceremony site. ❏ The flowers are delivered from the vendor and set up/distributed appropriately. ❏ Check with band or DJ. ❏ Hand out programs. ❏ Greet guests as they arrive and make sure they know where to sit or stand. ❏ Place bridesmaids’ bouquets around the reception area after the ceremony. ❏ Keep the bride’s lipstick and powder handy for touch ups at the reception. ❏ Give bride her shoes to change into at the reception. ❏ Give tip money (in pre-sealed envelopes) to the vendors. ❏ Keep the evening on track knowing when it's time to dance, cut the cake, depart, etc. ❏ Check to make sure the food basket from the caterer is in the getaway car.

Hors d’oeuvres receptions are very popular these days. To keep your guests satisfied without serving a full dinner, order 2 to 3 pieces of each hors d’oeuvres for every guest. It’s nice to provide a variety of choices to include shellfish, vegetables, poultry and sweets. Action & Carving stations can act as a more substantial hors d’oeuvres. Try Roast Prime Rib of Beef with miniature rolls or a Pasta Station.Your guests will be happy that they get to sample the whole menu provided. - KELLY KILLEEN; The Harbour Club
