REGULAR SEASON GETS UNDERWAY AT JACKSON SPEEDWAY BY DAN VOIGT, MEDIA RELATIONS JACKSON SPEEDWAY
JACKSON, Minn. — The 2014 racing season continued Saturday night, May 17, at the historic Jackson Speedway as the Watonwan River Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation brought in the Jakes Take Aim Youth Shooting Range s part of the evening’s events. The inflatable Shooting Range was made available for youth to trying their marksmanship prior to the evening’s racing action. The first night of the regular season brought 73 racers to the half-mile oval on the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The night’s feature wins went to Wade Huisman of Orange City in the Minnesota West Technical College Power Sports Technology Micro Sprints, with Megan Lappegard of Estherville winning the Yellowbook Sport Compacts and Malik Sampson of Worthington, MN, in the Sign Pros IMCA Hobby Stocks. The Bohl’s Small Engine and Marine IMCA Sport Modified feature win went to Nick Johansen of Tyler, MN, while Trent Schroeder of Worthington, MN, won the Hometown Motors IMCA Stock Car Feature and Skylar Prochaska of Lakefield, MN, captured the Last Deck 360 360 Sprint. Heat race winners in the Minniakota Micro Sprints were Dalton Johnson of
Worthington and Wade Huisman. The Sport Compact heat race checkers went to Megan Lappegard. The Hobby Stock heat races went to Malik Sampson and Justin Nehring of Storm Lake, Iowa while the Sport Modified heat wins went to Jason Schuder of Fairmont, MN and Jason Andrews of Okabena, MN. The Stock Car heat race victories went to Randy Brands of Boyden, IA and Luke Sathoff of Jackson, MN. Rounding out the heat races for the evening were the Sprint Cars, with Lou Kennedy Jr, of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada and Kaley Gharst of Decatur, Illinois. The speedway will take a week off and resume the season on Saturday, May 31, for the Fifth Annual Dominic Bruns Memorial Race for the IMCA Stock Cars.
