It’s your wedding — and no one else’s. So shouldn’t you have the choices that you want? Well, Elegance by Sarah Ruhs has every choice in bridal gowns and accessories you can imagine — and more. Conveniently located at 1407 Highway 71 North in the Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Okoboji, Elegance by Sarah Ruhs has been in the business of making weddings perfect since they opened in December 2006 in Arnolds Park. The move to Arrowwood fall 2009 opened the door to greater opportunities to serve customers better by working with the hotel in coordinating weddings and doing style shows at Minerva’s Restaurant. It’s each, individual bride, though, who is at the center of their business.
“We give them a lot of oneon-one attention,” said Ruhs, who encourages bridesto-be to come in as soon as they can — even a year isn’t too soon. She says it takes six months to order a custommade bridal gown. Styles can range from short to floor length to pantsuits. Once the bridal gown is selected, then it’s time for the bridesmaids’ dresses which take a little less time — three to four months. Elegance by Sarah Ruhs can also provide dresses for the mother of both the bride and groom and the flower girl as well. They can also provide outfits for personal attendants or guests of the wedding. “We can dress the whole wedding party,” said Ruhs. When the bride comes to pick up her gown, it’s steamed so it’s ready to go. They have bridal gowns from: n Casablanca. n David Tutera for Mon Cheri. n Sophia Tolli.

They’re open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4.
