St. Jordi ď‚–

(The real)

How we celebrate it 

 Here in Catalonia we celebrate Saint Jordi by doing different things.  In Catalonia, on 23rd of April men give a single rose to women in exchange for a book to celebrate Sant Jordi on the World Book Day because this day an important writer called Miguel de Cervantes Saabedra was buried.

Summary  A long time ago, in the village of Montblanc, there was a terrible dragon. It had powerful wings and breathed fire. The dragon could fly, walk and swim. The monster destroyed the crops and ate the animals. The king, to control the situation, decided to give the dragon a girl every day. But who wanted to go to the dragon? The king decided to select the person at random in a sweepstake. This technique was good, but one day the princess was selected. The king and a lot of the people of the village didn’t want that the princess died. But she wanted to accomplish her fate. The princess went to the sacrifice. When she went to the cave of the monster, she saw a knight on a white horse and told him not to go with her. But Sant Jordi wanted to go. When the monster came, the knight and the dragon started to fight, but Sant Jordi injured the beast and it died. From the blood of the dragon, a red rose appeared. Sant Jordi gave it to the princess. But he left the village looking for more adventures.
