ACTIVITIES IN TURKEY MEETING

Eryaman Türkkent İlkokulu had a pleasure to host the third project meeting of the Multilateral Comenius Project named ”Who we were,Where we are and What we will be” from 22 April to 26 April,2013. We hosted teachers and students from Austria, Germany,Greece ,Italy, Poland, Spain and Wales . There were 4 students who were hosted by families and 19 teachers who stayed in a hotel “Başkent Öğretmenevi” . We took part in lots of different and interesting activities. The program was prepared and carried out with the help of our teachers and parents .

All the partners arrived at the hotel on 22nd April. In the evening all the guests and new friends met at the dinner in the hotel restaurant. On 23rd April, 2013 We gathered together at Eryaman Türkkent İlkokulu to celebrate “Children‟s Day” with the activities “The children are young citizens of today and leading citizens of tomorrow” On the first day,The official welcome was a wonderful meeting. it was an important day , 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Turkey so we celebrated enthusiastically this important day with our guests who came from seven countries. We organised an unforgettable meeting for our guests, pupils, teachers and members of the local community. The programme focused on the project‟s main thematic field of peace , brotherhood,friendship, tolerance and all the children sent peace messages to the future world by means of different activities . The children presented an excellent program by sharing the meaning of the day with the audience. They read poems, sang songs and danced folklore. They also presented their talents by dancing, playing the violin, the flute, and the guitars. It was worth watching their performances.

The drama about “the World Children “ attracted the attention and everyone applauded it.

We had lunch in our teacher‟s room.We had some Turkish traditional foods such as Döner, Pilav, yaprak sarma, baklava, su böreği After lunch all guests and host teachers and students played “ Topaç”. Turkish teachers taught how to play the game and the guests learnt how to play it. İt was enjoyable to play the game for them.

All guests participated in “Ebru “( paper marbling ) art workshop . They tried paper marbling and learnt its techniques,then they produced wonderful masterpieces.

All the guests wrote their feelings and thoughts on special notebook about the peace,friendship concerning the importance of the day,23 April.

After some break for Turkish tea ,we visited the classrooms and all the guests admired the exhibitition of our students in the school hall and classrooms.

Our students were very excited.They received the letters and products sent by their friends from different countries.

Some partners tried to make “Helva� , which is a kind of Turkish dessert.

We held the project meeting to discuss what we have done and for the future tasks. All partners shared their ideas and experiences. They exchanged their school products. This meeting gave all our students and teachers the chance to get to know each other and to compare and better understand different cultures, educational systems and ways of living and make new friends.

On 24 April, we all gathered in front of the hotel and got on the bus to go to Beypazarı , which is famous for its historical houses. First we went to İnözü valley and then Mineral water factory. Our guests learnt how to fill the mineral water bottles . We did some sightseeing to discover the city. Then we walked around the city and did some shopping.

On 25April We left the hotel to visit Atatürk‟s mausoleum and museum. A guide met us in the Museum garden and he gave some information about Atatürk who is the founder of Republic of Turkey and the museum.

We visited HamamĂśnĂź District where we could see historic Ankara houses.

The farewell dinner of the meeting took place in a restaurant where all guests again could enjoy lots of delicious Turkish specialties. Finally, we gave the certificates of the participants. On 26 April Our guests said goodbye to see in next Project Meeting in Greece. All partners agreed that they had wonderful days here in Turkey and they felt like at their home. We are looking forward to our next mobility in Greece on 3- 8 June, 2013.

Planned activities occurred on time.

There was a good balance between work program and cultural program / spare time. All materials necessary for the work program were present The cultural program was interesting and instructive. The program for the trip was distributed in time. Planned activities occurred on time. I‟ve learned more about daily life and school life in the visited country. I „ve benefited from a range of cultural visits in the host country. The food was good and healthy We‟ve taken part in school activities TOTAL
