Pringles Commercial Evaluation (Draft)

Pringles TV Commercial | Evaluation At the start of the commercial unit, we were asked to undertake a product and advert history in order to acquire the necessary information needed to start our commercials. The general reason we were asked to research, was to acquire a wide variety of information and knowledge about the product which we were eventually going to showcase. The most significant part of the research was studying and looking at previous pringles commercials to pick out the most successful sections and techniques used. We analysed a series of commercials to establish brand product identity, persuasive techniques, target audiences, opportunities for expansion into other audience markets and looked into product history. Swot analysis. All of that research gave us our target audience, appropriate persuasive strategies helped develop initial ideas, viability studies. I studied a wide range of pringles adverts from new to old which helped dramatically as I saw how ideas and techniques changed slightly to accommodate the time era and generation. From studying the commercial’s closely, I realized that they were very upbeat and fast tempo. I also noticed that the all of the commercials that I looked at contained a lot of colour. This brought me to the conclusion that I would have to include some or a necessary amount of colour in my commercial in order to sell the product and also strengthen the concept. I actually feel that my research and priority advertising helped generate my ideas more so than my initial ideas generation strategies. Explain final idea persuasive strategy non integrate into how they best target your chosen market. Final pitch.

Planning and managing my time was not as easy as I would have hoped it to be. I wasted a large amount of time on pre- production which brought down my initial filming time and editing time. Evaluate pre production, Time management, checklist. Gant chart. Overhead diagrams more efficient, location recce, call sheet. Happy accident. I set out to start on my stixyboard page which held my initial ideas and general / brief research to get me started. The next step was to select a

location and start filming, which would take up the majority of time. I feel that I could have used more time to polish some parts of the footage I used in my final commercial, becauseafter reviewing my first draft, I realised that it could have been a lot better with a bit more time. The third step was to watch and review all of the footage that I filmed and plan out what parts I would include in my advert and which sections would have to be deleted. I was hoping to use the majority of my time on this section but I had to slightly rush it towards the end seen as the deadline was quickly approaching. The annoying thing about the editing stage was that I had to continuously fill out the asset log and footage log tables in order to show where extra material and pieces of footage were coming from etc. I strongly feel that this slowed me down in terms of having enough time to edit.

Although my time management was hindered in some areasof the project, I was successfully able to manage the project as a whole in terms of keeping track of what I needed to do next and being able to organize each task I had to do next etc.

I felt that I didn’t achieve my intentions in the first draft which was a disappointment but I had time to improve it which would be submitted as my final piece. The reasons I feel that I didn’t achieve this is becausethe concept eventually came out incorrect in the end. The original idea and concept was to have a really hungry person run into a local shop and grab a tube of pringles and eat them which would be put into a montage or a series of people crunching pringles. By the end of my final finished piece I was a little more pleased as I trimmed out the first section of the advert which I was told was unnecessary. Trimming out the first half of my commercial actually worked to my advantage, becauseit was exactly 30 seconds which was the limit time given for our adverts. What went well / even better if‌ why? What? Post production edlss, footage logs what you had to correct? What feedback you got at this stage?Primary research on rough cut. How did you reflect at this stage? What did you change if anything. Technical polish. Professional, persuasion? Structure? Re

trimming? Shot duration.

After pitching my final advert, i thought it would be a wise idea to create a questionnaire to seewhat people thought of my advert. SoI conducted a feedback test which brought back some good positive results and helpful constructive criticism. My questionnaire was targeted at ages15+.I chose this age range becauseI felt that they would relate to it more than any other category.

Aesthetics and technical aspects of final commercial.
