WHAT IS...

TED

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. On TED.com, we're building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world's most inspired thinkers — and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at TED and TEDx events around the world, all year long. In fact, everything we do — from our TED Talks videos to the projects sparked by the TED Prize, from the global TEDx community to the TED­Ed lesson series — is driven by this goal: How can we best spread great ideas?

WHAT IS...

TEDX

TEDx licenses are granted to organizers around the world to host independently­organized events. At a TEDx event, TED Talks and/or live speakers spark deep discussion and connection. The fundamental goal of TED and TEDxHonolulu is “Ideas Worth Spreading.” We aim to provide a platform where thinkers, activist, and fascinating teachers [innovators] will be inspired and will have the opportunity to inspire each other. This year marks the 6th anniversary of TEDx events and more than 13,500 TEDx events have been produced in over 173 languages in over 3,000 cities around the world. Every year the TEDxHonolulu Team volunteers their time and skills focused on disseminating "Ideas Worth Spreading." By creating these events, TEDxHonolulu hopes to inspire people to strengthen themselves, build their local community, and engage in positive way with the larger world.

TEDxHonolulu 2016 event will be a deep, free-wheeling, collaborative exploration of FLOW: Optimizing Human Potential. It will be a series of compelling conversations and interactions bringing together exciting innovators across a range of disciplines -- sports, science, the arts, spirituality, education, business and more. Our speakers will share how they experience and enhance their encounters with FLOW, and how they use FLOW to continuously elevate their physical, social and mental performance in their professional and personal lives. - July 9, 2016

Past TEDxHonolulu speakers are brought back to host a series of events themed around their idea. The event aims to continue the conversation and engages with attendees on a more intimate environment. - January 2016 - Agriculture - and many more

A new series of group excursions throughout Hawaii exclusively for TEDxHonolulu attendees, partners and organizers. These multi-site adventures, specially guided by TEDxHonolulu speakers, will dive deeper into their TEDxHonolulu Talks.
