Celebrations and the Paella queue in Virgín del Coromoto.

On Sunday 17th January 2011 the village of Chío celebrated the Romería of Saint Anthony.

During the procession people were given food to eat and wine or soft drinks to drink.

Saint Anthony is the patron saint of domestic animals and the people pray to him so that he can bless the animals.

The cars were decorated with palm leaves, traditional crafts and typical Canarian produce. All the people wore traditional costumes.

The procession started in the main square in Chío and it went to Coromoto Street.

At the end of the procession everyone ate from a big paella that was prepared by the

Town Hall. Later everyone returned to the square and the priest blessed all the animals.
