The UK is abundant with water. It has a huge and varied coastline and inland waterways of streams, rivers, lakes, fens, marshes, ponds, canals and reservoirs. Different types of water encourage different types of fish, and all of them are very different to each other.’.

Our country is in the middle of the journey of the Tiber river . Here the river flows slowly, the water’s temperature increases and the oxygen decreases.


In the waters live some kinds of fish :  the

The Chub that is the most numerous fish. The Tench and the Italian Barber are decreasing where are polluted substances, but in general in the Tiber river lives a lot of fish because his waters are enough clean.

It is 25 centimetres long and smallmedium size. It is grey, green and silver; the fins are yellow and grey. The mouth is small. It lives in clean waters with gravel and in groups. It eats small worms and small waterplants.


The Chub


It is the most numerous fish that live in our river. It is 60 centimetres long and medium size, with a long body and a big head. It is grey, blue and silver. The fins are yellow and grey, the mouth is big.


It lives in clean waters but also in every kind of water. It lives in groups and every female makes about 3.000 eggs. It eats everything: small eggs, insects, worms, frogs. When it’s adult it eats other fish.


The White bleak


It is 16 centimetres long and small size, with a long body and a small head. It is grey, white, blue and silver; the fins are grey. It has got an oblique mouth.


It lives in clean waters but also in every kind of water. It lives in groups . It eats very small things: small eggs, insects, worms, small waterplants.
