T H E G A L L O G LY C O L L E G E C R E S T Today’s graduates are receiving the Gallogly College of Engineering crest lapel pins. Each symbol on the crest helps to tell the story of the College’s rich history at the University of Oklahoma. Graduates join in with generations of Gallogly College alumni who wear their pin with pride. According to legend, St. Patrick performed the world’s greatest engineering feat by creating a machine to drive snakes out of Ireland. St. Pat is the unofficial mascot of the Gallogly College of Engineering and the patron saint of the engineering profession. Images of shamrocks can be found across engineering buildings in his honor.
Gallogly Hall, home to the College’s award-winning Diversity and Inclusion Program and the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering, opened it’s doors in the fall of 2019. This 78,000 sq. ft. addition to the engineering quad provides students and researchers with the latest in office and tutoring spaces, and equips our researchers with cutting-edge laboratories.
Finished in 1925, Felgar Hall was the first purpose-built engineering education building in Oklahoma. Forever a memorial to the Gallogly College’s rich history within the state, today Felgar Hall houses the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and Williams Student Services Center.
The cannon represents the Loyal Knights of Old Trusty, a society organized in 1920 by a group of World War I veteran engineering students whose aim was to provide service and maintain the traditions, spirit and values of the College and the University. LKOT signs can be found at entrances to most engineering buildings.
