Information Page New guides to help organisations prepare for Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2015 Third Sector Touchpoint is a checklist to help third sector organisations prepare for parts 4,5 and 18 of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2015, due to come into force in August 2016. These relate to: The Provision of Named Persons; The Child’s Plan; Assessment of Wellbeing. Touchpoint is a planning tool and should be used in a way that reflects each organisation’s own context and operational circumstances, and in conjunction with other relevant materials, tools and guidelines. Two versions are available: 

'Targeted support': for third sector organisations likely to be: delivering targeted support to children and young people; funded by grant aid or commissioned to provide these services ‘Prevention’: for third sector organisations delivering primary prevention services to children, young people and families.

It is based on tools designed by the Scottish Government, adapted for Third Sector organisations by The National Third Sector GIRFEC Project working in partnership with Children in Scotland, Glasgow Council for Voluntary Service, and the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland. This tool comes with an introduction and we believe it is self-explanatory. However, should you have any questions or feedback about this Third Sector Touchpoint or the wider Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2015, please email to touchpoints@childreninscotland.org.uk. Although we may not be able to meet every individual request for assistance, we will always get back to you and seek to use the information we receive to shape our work and inform the National Implementation Support Group of the specific needs of third sector organisations. Thank you. Best regards Vicky Wan Project Manager National Third Sector GIRFEC Project mobile: 07769 640332 web: www.barnardos.org.uk/thirdsectorproject.htm The National Third Sector GIRFEC project works to strengthen the role of the Third Sector in the planning and co-ordination of Children’s Services across Community Planning Partnerships.

Information Economy Committee call for views on social enterprises and employee ownership. The Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee is seeking views on social enterprises and employee owned businesses, including cooperatives, in advance of hearing evidence in January/February 2016. Following on from a roundtable on social enterprise in August 2014 and evidence heard during our Work, Wages and Wellbeing inquiry, the Committee have agreed to look again at social enterprises and alternative business ownership models in more detail. The theme of this short inquiry is ‘innovation’, one of the Scottish Government’s four economic priorities. We’re hoping to hear from businesses, membership organisations and academics the extent to which social enterprises and employee owned businesses, by their very nature, encourage cultures of innovation. The four main aims of evidence-taking will be— 1.

Understanding the scale and growth of social enterprises and employee-owned businesses in Scotland;

2.

Hearing examples of innovation from businesses, for example employee involvement in developing new products, services or processes and innovative partnerships within communities;

3.

Assessing the sources of funding and support available;

4.

What public bodies are doing and should be doing to encourage these business models.

The deadline for written submissions is 20 January 2016. Please structure your response using the themes above and – 

read the policy on treatment of written evidence by committees before sending your submission;

try not to exceed 4 sides of A4;

send submissions by email to eet@scottish.parliament.uk; and,

contact us with any queries, by email as above or by telephone on 0131 348 5214.

Please share this within your own networks and on social media outlets, a copy of the call for views is attached, and the inquiry webpage is linked below— http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/parliamentarybusiness/CurrentCommittees/94944.aspx

Event Page Help us Shape our Strategic Plan - Invitation 3rd February 2016 Help us to develop our strategy by sharing your views on how Health and Adult Social Care Services will be delivered in Renfrewshire over the next 3 years. Many of you attended a previous event in March 2015 when we began the conversation about how we can work with communities to develop and improve services. We look forward to hearing from many of you again. You are invited to a consultation event on our first Strategic Plan (2016-19) on Wednesday 3rd February, 2016 at Paisley Town Hall from 9.30am – 1.30pm. Lunch will be provided. It is vital that we hear your views to build on those that have helped to shape the document so far. So, please do not miss the opportunity to be involved. Please register for the event by emailing Renfrewshire.HSCP@ggc.scot.nhs.uk by Friday 15th January, 2016. We would appreciate your assistance in helping to publicise the event by forwarding this email or displaying the attached poster. This is a great opportunity for your voices to be heard and will help us to establish a Strategic Plan for 2016-19 that will shape how we work and the services we provide to make Renfrewshire a more caring place, where people are treated as individuals and further supported to live well.
