Equmen Core Precision A few weeks ago, I was sent an Equmen singlet to try out. Equimen have a number of products (singlets, underwear and socks), but it was their singlet that caught my attention. They tout their undergarment range as having a number of beneficial properties, including assisting with posture, keeping the body cool and providing a slimming effect. Pretty much all of these attributes seemed like they would be beneficial for grooms and groomsmen. Before I get into how well the singlet performed, it is probably worthwhile giving you an insight as to its design. The one I received was a white singlet with a round neck. Equmen also offer different neck styles as well as sleeved undershirts, and have black and slate colours.
The singlet has a various textures and patterns on it, a result of the different fabric used throughout to create the supportive nature of the singlet. The sizing is done by your BMI (a ratio of height and weight) - this means that, if you are a little short like me, the singlet might be a little long. It didn’t seem to be a problem in actual use although it did feel a bit strange when you first put it on. Ah yes, putting it on. In order to get the full supportive effect of the singlet, it needs to be pretty tight - this means that it can be a bit tricky to get on (think Sonny Bill Williams putting on a new rugby jersey in the World Cup game). The first time I tried it, I must confess that I was a bit alarmed as to how tight it was to get on. However, once
n Undershirt you have it on, it isn’t at all uncomfortable. It does feel firm, but not uncomfortably so. This fitting nature does however have immediate benefits. I am a little overweight - having developed love handles during my wife’s first pregnancy (apparently eating for two only applies to pregnant ladies and not their partners - who knew!) and not having since shed my ‘pregnancy’ weight. Once donning the singlet and having thrown a t-shirt over top, my wife immediately noticed that I looked slimmer. My t-shirt definitely felt a little looser as well. I also felt I was standing a little straighter. Being a photographer and working on Weddings.co.nz, my day normally involves a
mixture of hefting around heavy cameras and sitting at my desk typing. Having worn the singlet for the day, I definitely noticed less back ache and a better posture when sitting at my desk. The breathability and cooling effect was a little more difficult to test. Given the rubbish weather that we have had over the past few weeks, there haven’t been any instances
more confidence, with the added benefit of improving my posture and decreasing back ache. The only downside that I can think of is that they can be a bit tricky to get on and off (which I suppose is necessary to ensure they fit tightly when on) - however, once on, they are really comfortable so this isn’t something that I would worry about. All in all, a great product and one that I would recommend not only for a groom and groomsmen, but
where I have felt too warm anyway. I can say however that the singlet never made me feel hot and sweaty. So would I recommend the Equmen singlet? Yes, I definitely would. While they are relatively pricey (around $100), if they had been around when I got married, I would have definitely have worn one. The slim fitting nature of the singlet gives me

peoples’ time and funds become more precious, newly married couples are looking to short break honeymoons or as Kylie Hall, Castaways’ Sales & Marketing Manager refers to them “MiniMoons”. “Many wedding couples these days pay a large portion of their own wedding costs and many newlyweds just simply can’t afford the time off work, or the outlay to go away for a few weeks on an official honeymoon.
