Emmanuel Ramirez Interior Design Portfolio
CONCEPT BOARD Biography Born in the Dominican Republic, a small Caribbean island, but very full of culture. Having a childhood surrounded by colorful houses and a colorful city full of different verities of textures, fruits, and eclectic architecture. As a young kid my interest of the modern design was inherited I believe from my mother. Growing up I always saw her renovation in the house and always having something new in the house that one way or another improve how the house looked. I help too by tweaking what I thought didn’t look right and mixing the “Color coordinated pillows” of the couch and made then a funky living room and incorporated that through the entire house too.” I love seeing how materials, textures and colors can come together as one”. My father an enthusiastic traveler always brought me a post card of the places he visited, and for some odd reason they were interior design spaces or an architectural building or sculpture. As the years pass by my knowledge of appreciating a well decorated space grew with me. When I and my brother and sister came to live with my mother to the United States after being without our mother for a few years, we faced the challenge of a different culture and weather climates that we never experience before, but I was up for it. I saw it as a great way to improve my knowledge of this country in architectural history and as the call New York City the Skyscraper city why not make the new experience more fun. Attending middle school and high school was different a sometimes hard due to the language differences but that didn’t stop me. After graduating high school I took a different path and lean a little on the Criminal Justice field for two years, but then I realize that wasn’t my long time passion or what I grew up interest in. I decide to stop and follow what really motivated me in the first place, what really filled my desire
to excel in life. So I did my little research and came to a conclusion that Interior Design really filled that gap I had and I know that this will make more happy. The love for and interior design space comes from admiring the elegance of a well done space, incorporating elements that you would think of doing and growing with the career and the passion that comes with it. “I love seeing how different personalities shine through, making each space unique, YOUR OWN, and therefore original” I learn that from my grandmother and I guess my mother got it from her too.... Finally after those two years in a community college doing a career that didn’t fulfilled my desired I stop it and came to The Art Institute of New York City and pressure my dreams as an Interior Designer. The journey has been a pleasant ride, but now is time to make history in the City of Dreams…

My Bridge ispiration came from this brass neckles that the designer used trust bridges as her inspiration. i liked the idea of how something inspires a disign that brings it back to the main desing. she said “Hammered Brass formed into a design I created that reminds me of a so many metal riveted truss bridges I have crossed and especially the oakland bridge. I love the repeating patterns of structural support beams. Also, I am sure my love of blue prints have inspired this piece and my other recent geometric designs.
