A Person Planned giving, no matter what its end form, always starts with the same thing: a person. A person makes the decision to support the things they care about into the future. Where it goes from there is a very personal choice that reflects the donor’s own interests, both altruistically and financially.

A Purpose Planned gifts can be made with a specific purpose in mind—such as supporting the arts, technology, tuition assistance, capital improvements, or any other objective—or they can simply provide unrestricted funding to the school’s endowment or operations. Either way, planned giving supports and serves Elmwood Franklin and its community.

A Plan The right plan benefits both the donor and the recipient in multiple ways. Many options provide tax savings and consistent income streams for the donor. Your objectives are best discussed with your financial advisor and can be shared with the Development Office professionals at Elmwood Franklin to ensure the greatest impact.

A Gift The types of planned gifts vary widely and include will bequests, retirement plan assets, securities or real estate, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and life insurance designations. Some take effect right away, allowing you to see the outcomes of your generosity, while others may be designated as part of your estate.

A Result Nearly 100 years ago, a teacher at the Elmwood School made a planned gift with the intention of supporting faculty professional development. To this day, the interest generated from that one gift finances a wide variety of enrichment endeavors each year, such as advanced academic studies, conferences, curriculum-related travel, and individual creative pursuits.

A Legacy Planned gifts enable Elmwood Franklin School to meet challenges and pursue opportunities that extend above and beyond what budgeted funds allow. Their effects often reach far into the future, making a valuable difference for the school and creating an enduring legacy for the donor.
