Academic Overview for students at least 24 years of age or those who have completed their baccalaureate degree. Students are completing their first degree, pursuing a second degree, or pursuing a master’s degree program. Students may attend class during the day, in the evening, or on Saturdays in the Fall, January, Spring and Summer Terms. Classes are offered on the Elmhurst College campus, as well as select off-site locations and online. Elmhurst offers fast-track completion programs for adults in business administration, cyber security, digital cinema, information technology, organizational leadership and communication, and pre-clinical psychology. Graduate students may pursue graduate programs in 15 academic areas. lmhurst College offers programs for traditional and adult students. The College operates on a 4-1-4 calendar, consisting of a Fall Term, a one-month January Term and a Spring Term. The College also offers an eight-week Summer Term.

Traditional Programs Elmhurst offers a full range of academic programs and services to approximately 2900 traditional students. Traditional students at Elmhurst may enroll full- or part-time, and may choose daytime, evening, or Saturday classes. A full-time faculty of 159 is committed to teaching, scholarship, and serving as advisors to students in planning coursework and exploring career choices. Students at Elmhurst enjoy close collaboration with faculty in general introductory courses as well as in advanced courses. Our average class size is approximately 17, and the student-faculty ratio is 12:1—one of the more desirable in higher education. Academic life at the College is supported by a variety of extracurricular programs, including honor and recognition societies and musical and theatrical groups.
