Membership Information Sheila Ray Member Spotlight

The Spotlight shines on our newest member, Joyce Landini, who has become involved in several activities and trips offered at the Sheila Ray Center. Joyce, how long have you been a member of the Sheila Ray Adult Center? I became a member of the center in March, so it’s been less than a year. What are some of the activities you enjoy at the center? Bingo, Wii bowling and day trips. What do you like most about the center? I appreciate the warm and welcoming environment, as well as the strong sense of camaraderie among the members of the Sheila Ray Adult Center. What made you want to join the center? Following the challenges of Covid-19 and the loss of my husband, I realized it was time for me to step out of my comfort zone and engage in activities offered at the Sheila Ray Adult Center.

What’s the Buzz ... We have been busy little bees all summer long at the Sheila Ray Adult Center. In July, we hosted an Ice Cream Social, a mystery lunch trip and the Lake Michigan lunch cruise. In August, our discothemed Senior Prom event, with Croozin' the Loop had us dancing the night away. We also hosted the 90th birthday celebration luncheon. During September, the annual Rummage Sale proved to be a great fundraiser for the center. SRAC is growing due to all the trips and activities here at the center. We now have 296 members and hope to pass 300 soon. If you see someone you don’t know, introduce yourself and say hello. It’s our friendliness that makes SRAC the greatest place to be. In October, we are going on our first extended travel trip to Nashville. There will also be a trip to Four Winds Casino and of course we have our Halloween Bingo event. November brings the Veteran’s Luncheon with singer Maureen Christine. The annual Holiday Bazaar is on December 1st & 2nd, and our special guest will be the Grinch. Please make sure to have your picture taken with him. In December, we’ll have our Holiday luncheon which will be held at the elegant Belvedere Banquets. On December 29th, we will celebrate the new year with games and a sparkling non-alcoholic toast. Enjoy the fall weather and all the activities and trips SRAC has to offer. Donna Tognocchi, Advisory Board President

The Adult Advisory Board is composed of Adult Center members who act as the representatives for the entire membership. Each selected appointee is sworn into office by the Park District Board of Commissioners each term.
