DUANGPHORN

Tangchitnob (HCP 5) Who inspired you to take up golf? My parents inspired me to play golf. When I was eight years old, my father bought a half set of clubs and took me to the driving range. What did you learn from playing golf? I learnt to be myself and to play my best. The game also helped me to develop concentration and to be mentally strong. You have made a hat-trick by winning the Club Championship three times in a row (in 2009, 2010 and 2011). How do you feel about your great achievement? I am happy that I have won the tournament thrice. But the victory did not put me on cloud nine. I will continue to do my best without worrying about the outcome. After all, it is a game and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Have you got a hole-in-one? Yes, two aces at RBSC and one each at Rajapruek and Krungthep Kreetha golf courses. Have you played a round of golf with any PGA pros? Since I am the Captain of the Thailand National Golf Team, I often times had a chance to play with Nonthaya Sisawang. You may be aware that Nonthaya won the Orient Masters WenZhou (China) in 2006 after turned pro in January the same year. Who is your favorite professional golfer? Please explain why do you like him? Ernie Els. His swing looks easy and effortless. If you get a chance, which pro golfer you would like to play with? Ernie Els, of course. Which brands of golf clubs and golf ball do you use? Superman (driver), Royal Collection and Ping (woods), S-Yard (irons), Yes and Odyssey (putter) and Titleist Pro V1 (ball) As the Captain of the Thai National Team what is your advice to the parents of aspiring golfers among girls? It is a matter of concern that the parents of many young players are rushing their children to turn professionals. I strongly feel that becoming pro so early, without gaining experience, is not at all good for their career. I have seen quite a few Thai girls not working hard after turning pro. Unlike Thais, Korean girls work very hard. You can see many of them are taking part in international tournaments. Could you please brief about your efforts in preparing the three-member Thai team for the upcoming 33rd Queen Sirikit Cup? As you know, the 33rd Queen Sirikit Cup will be hosted by The Indian Golf Union during March 9-11, 2011, at Delhi Golf Club in India. From finding the right coach to soliciting sponsors and supporters and from analysing the players’ abilities to planning their training programme, I am pretty much involved in the preparatory efforts.
