The body needs to lean forward to gain momentum. Your center of mass is in the front part of the blade. A short radius allows quicker distribution of weight to accelerate.
Changing direction, performing cross-overs, or pivoting backwards are key areas for being agile. Your center of mass is just behind the acceleration point.
A deep knee bend is needed to mprove stride length. Your center of mass is in the middle of the blade. A longer radius supports weight transfer to generate explosive power.
Body control is at a premium during physical play, turning and shooting. our center of mass is in the back of the blade. A longer radius gives improved stability when transferring/loading weight properly.
QUAD
Prosharp® recommends a Quad profile for players who need to cover a lot of ice. It is the ideal profile for center-men and defensemen. You will feel balanced on your skates when transitioning from gliding to striding. Maximizes full stride length.
ZUPERIOR Zuperior profile is for players who wants that extra speed. It is the ideal profile for wingers. The feeling you get is quick acceleration with perfect stability. Maximizes power stride length.
SINGLE PROFILES One of the most common radiuses is 13’ (the one represented in the diagram you see above) or 14’. It gives the skater an allround skating experience. wIf you are new to skating, we advise you to start with a long single radius (17’). The long radius will support your balance.

THE SINGLE PROFILE
The single profiles has one radius on the blade. The single profiles goes from a short radius (e.g. 9 ft) to a long radius (e.g. 19 ft) and everything in between. A short radius gives you great acceleration and agility on the ice, but lacks in speed and stability. A long radius gives you great speed and stability on the ice, but lacks in acceleration and agility. In North America the most common radius is 9 ft. In Europe the countries tend to have longer radii (13 ft. to 14 ft.)
THE DUAL PROFILE
The dual profiles has two radii combined on the blade. We offer 9 different dual profiles for forwards and defenders and 1 dual profile (Goalie Win) for goalies. The dual profiles are a great way to start with combination profiles before stepping into the Zuperior- and Quad profiles. One of the more popular dual profiles is Detroit II (13 ft in the front combined with 26 ft in the back).
THE ZUPERIOR PROFILE
The Zuperior profiles has three radii combined on the blade. We offer 7 different Zuperior profiles for forwards/defenders and 1 Zuperior profile (Zuperior V) for goalies and forwards/defenders. All the Zuperior profiles with the exception of Zuperior V have a recommended skate size attached to it. From Zuperior 3XS (skate sizes 1-2) to Zuperior Large (skate sizes 11-12). The Zuperior profiles are popular among wingers and defensive D-men.
THE QUAD PROFILE
The Quad profiles has four radii combined on the blade. We offer 7 different Zuperior profiles for forwards/ defenders. All the Quad profiles have a recommended skate size attached to it. From Quad 3XS (skate sizes 1-2) to Quad II (skate sizes 11-12). The Quad profiles are popular among centres and offensive D-men.

The Channel-Z’s double edges gives increased grip, edge control and speed. The design results in a channel in the bottom of the hollow, like having two speed skates next to each other. Conventional hollows mean that there normally has to be a compromise between good grip and good glide, but with Channel-Z sharpening there are no more compromises. It provides the best of both worlds; excellent grip and speedy glide! The extra inner edges gives enhanced support and grip in crossover skating and in quick turns. The channel in the surface of the blade decreases the friction between the steel and ice. The Channel-Z is visible if you look closely. CZ L HOLLOW 25
