2022 THESIS MENTIONED as “Best academic work” UNIVERSITY PROJECTS CATALOG 2019 II PRIZE at COMITATO UNICO GARANZIA PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 2018-2019 TOC & DIARC Workshop SHUFFLING PARASITES
Hello!
My name is Eleonora, I am a Licensed Italian Architect based in San Diego, California.
I earned my Master’s Degree with honors in 2022 at the University of Naples “Federico II”, getting mentioned as one of the best academic works in the university catalog. I am always looking for new experiences to expand the boundaries of my comfort-zone. This prompted me to deepen my study path through the Erasmus+ program, with a scholarship at the Politechnic University of Madrid in Spain, a NAAB Certificate University (National Architectural Accrediting Board).
I am self-motivated and self-directed, and my constant hunger to knowledge and curiosity drives me every day to improve myself, continuing search for new opportunities to grow from a personal and above all, professional point of view. Therefore I decided to participate in the Architect-US Professional Career Training Program that sponsor my J-1 visa. They take care of all the paperwork as part of the U.S. Government Exchange J-1 Visitor Program, so it would be an honour to take part of your team with an Internship in any time.
In the past 2 years I collected three important working experiences that gave me the possibility to gain a greater versatility to my creative process in all phases of design, especially in Design projects, Interior Design, Graphic and Schematic Design, Design Development, Landscape and Construction Documents.
My latest work experience at Gnosis firm, gave me a great ability to work in team, and it allowed me to become familiar with the innovative softwares of BIM technologies. I took a specific advanced course with GoPillar Academy in BiM Revit, which gave me the greatest possibility to manage the 3D design model and to create realistic render.
I am a team player skilled in AutoCad, Rhinoceros, SketchUp, V-Ray, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Autodesk REVIT, Graphisoft ArchiCad and Microsoft Office, among others.
I can boast an excellent graphic design ability, in particular vector illustrations and hand-drawing skills. I have a great problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills, with also a self-leadership with attention to details, multi-tasking, and strong ability to work in a dynamic work environment. I have an advanced comprehension, written and oral expression in English and Spanish, in line with the professional language.
Finally, I am strongly motivated to undertake this new experience in the U.S and I would like to reiterate how much it would be a privilege for me to be part of your team. Therefore I hope that my qualities, both technical and personal, satisfy your needs and expectations. My favourite quote is “When there is a will, there is a way!”.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon, I offer you my warmest regards,
MONTE SOLARO: HISTORY WITHIN LANDSCAPE
Master Degree Thesis 2021/2022 Capri, Italy. Project Design and Restoration Private project
The design guidelines and realization of this project are set to highlight both the history and the landscape of Mount Solaro, located in Capri. Conservation of the architectural artefacts is ensured according to the principles of “critical-conservative restoration”. Accessibility is addressed first by designing adequate illumination of the site, removing architectural barriers that were previously in place and creating ramps, pathways, and vertical connections. The project is divided into three main subprojects. The first, “On the trail of the ruined fort” targets the artefact restoration and re-functionalization of the external and internal spaces. The second, “Monte Solaro in time and space” involves the creation of a sundial meant to also work as an observatory. Lastly, “Through Nature” aims at the requalification of the landscape surrounding the area and the installment of an “info point” where visitors can learn about the history of the site.
The project as a whole aims at highlighting the wonderful site scenery located on the tip of the mountain of Capri creating a structure where sea, land and sky meet in a unique harmony.
SMALL FLAT IN NAPOLI
Internship at Gnosis 2021/2022 Naples, Italy. Architecture Project Design Private
The “Small Flat” is a project I worked on during my internship at GNOSIS coop professional studio in Naples, Italy. The project outlines dictated by the client consisted in generating the necessary documentation for the division of an apartment into two smaller living spaces. One of the two was intended for a small two room apartment with a mezzanine. On the lower floor, the entire kitchen was designed with the stairwell with bookcase and shelves. Through the use of Revit 3D software, it was possible to build a three-dimensional model of the apartment and subsequently import the model into Rhinoceros with V-Ray to create the Render for the project. Materials with high insulating performance have been chosen in the attic of the mezzanine to ensure soundproofing in the lower rooms. The kitchen and the library on the mezzanine have been specially designed for the client.
DESIGN TABLE IN ROME
Internship at Gnosis 2021/2022 Rome, Italy. Design Project Private
The design table created was designed for a client who requested an innovative and particular design for a modern living room in the center of Rome. The compositional line of the table supports were born from simple geometric shapes. The legs of the table cross each other creating a pattern of straight lines seen from above, while it is possible to identify a perfect ellipse from the sideview. A three-dimensional model of the project was made first and each section of the support were drawn to ensure that the supports were sanded and cut according to the initial design concept. Finally, the table top was made up of a 1 cm thick tempered glass plate on the top, resting on wooden supports assembled with bolted steel plates.
GREEN EDUCATIONAL PRISON
Personal project 2020/2021 Benevento, Italy. Sustainable Architecture Project Public Project
The challenge faced with the “Green Educational Prison” takes place in a new work detention area located inside Benevento’s prison. The project was created with the aim of establishing healthy environments full of opportunities for prisoners, as a solution to a condition of seclusion and constraints and accompanying them on a path of educational and professional growth. The entire project has been divided into areas that identify strategic objectives both architecturally and functionally, in order to create a self-sufficient space that can give a future to the inmates who work there. During their stay, the inmates will face a process made up of the following steps: a fruit and vegetable production area inside the prison. A pavilion intended for laboratories where they will go through a training-educational process in collaboration with associations and catering schools. And a restaurant serving locally produced food.

The new work detention area of the prison of Benevento is proposed as an innovative and sustainable project, which responds to multiple objectives of the LEED and WELL protocols. Natural ventilation is achieved taking advantage of the favorable winds. Energy production is favored within the project area, the pavilions are oriented to the southwest in order to guarantee adequate natural lighting and correct positioning of the photovoltaic panels. The draining surfaces favor the filtering of water for reuse in the irrigation of the fields or inside the building itself. Finally, the indoor environmental quality is guaranteed by the use of green screens on the facade and by the correct positioning of openings on the roof and adjacent to opposite facades.

CULTURAL CENTER
Universidad Politecnica de Madrid 2019/2020 Soria, Spain. Architecture Project Design Commercial and Residential
The center constitutes a complex that includes both the house of the workers or researchers who arrive in Soria as well as the public library and the auditorium. The management of the Center precisely defined the necessary program for the building, pointing out the indispensability of a global approach that included both the recovery of the area behind the wall and the new tensions that had been foreseen between the wall and the building. Then it was decided to maintain a single general public access, in line with the new layout of the garden, new paths will be generated through a pre-existing limit which is the wall, and the new urban limit identified in the study center. This set, which covers an area of 2,815mq, is articulated as a new linear body that follows the line of the urban limit as a wall and vegetation between the city of Soria and the river. The new study center is adapted to respond to its internal functioning, to the organization of various events and to the influx of visitors, each time greater thanks to the growing interest in the work and personality of Antonio Machado.
HUT FOR ARTISTS
Universidad Politecnica de Madrid 2019/2020 San Saturio, Spain. Residential Project Design Public project
The project of the “Hut for artists” was born with the intention of creating a place of meditation and outside the concept of space and time. Immersed in the nature of San Saturio, the artist is forced to take total refuge in his personal abilities, finding in a small and confined space like a hut, the greatness of his own nature. Torment, emotion and concentration will be the guidelines of the time he will spend inside. The shape and construction of the refuge were the result of the study of the slopes of the mountain on which it lies. In fact, the structure develops on different levels just like the mountain, also based on the places and spaces that will be used by those who will experience the refuge. The constituent materials are conceived according to the principles of sustainability and the readaptability of the project to new places, allowing the structure to be easily disassembled and reassembled through prefabricated panels.
REALITY
Personal Project 2018/2019 Rosarno, Italy. Commercial Project Design Public Project
The word standard, in the Italian dictionary indicates a reference model to which one conforms. A territory can be defined as standard when, within it, normal characters are found, i.e. elements that become parameters, points of reference that unite several realities. The connections between these elements create a precise hierarchy, a structure referable to a design that orients the individual in the context in which he finds himself. A territory that has not evolved according to a predefined pattern is considered nonstandard. In this case there are no reference points that identify a precise development. A non-standard reality presents a spontaneous and dispersive urban system. The project of the Costone Cangemi, in Rosarno in Calabria, aims at the development of an area that was born as a non-standard territory and which is still struggling to find its own identity. With the construction of a new market that overlooks one of the main streets of the city, a new urban front is created. In addition to imposing itself on the surroundings as a progressive building design, it encloses a garden of opportunities for the amphitheater now in disuse.
The intervention area is located a few meters away from one of the main nodes of the city, named Piazza Valarioti, connected to the Case Nuove district by Via Elena. Close to Piazza Mercato, a strip of land emerges on a drop of about 12 meters, Costone Cangemi, which stands out for its morphological conformation. Although it is located in a central position in the city, today it is not very usable. The drop in altitude between the road and Piazza Mercato makes the area difficult to walk. The fundamental idea of the project involves the restoration of the market within the ridge, the creation of new routes and a public park. The project aims to enhance the peculiarities of the place by proposing to better connect the two differently elevated areas, the square and the street, and giving greater visibility to the recently renovated Rosarno Amphitheater
The layout of the entire building identifies the compound as a unicum through the division of the structural mesh into modules and solves the street front with the use of sunscreens that mark the entire facade. In addition to constituting a compositional simplicity of the façade, the sunscreens serve to protect the building from direct sunlight and represent an urban filter of mediation between inside and outside. In particular, it is divided into three units: the first space is intended for market activity, with created spaces for the sale of locally produced products. The central area has a connection function equipped with ramps from the road. Finally, on the opposite side a food district divided into three levels.
