Hosting our Comenius friends

The time that Turkish , Polish, Slovakian, Croatian and Bulgarian people spent here was very enjoyable for me, and I think it was for everyone. We enjoyed it a lot, and we met people from other countries and cultures, and we learned a lot from them. We also enjoyed showing them our city and little country, and in my opinion we also visited places that were around us, but we had never noticed before. The time they were here they were very polite at home, and they tried to communicate with our families, even if my family for example did not know any English. They tried, and that was very positive to me. They treated our parents and brother and sister very well, and my family was very happy. The best way to learn English is speaking it, so an exchange is a great way to learn. We spoke a lot between us, because it was the only way for us to communicate, and we improved our English level in only 5 days. In conclusion, the experience was very good, and I am looking forward to May to come. I am sure I will have a great time in Croazia. Antonino Iorfida

Hello. I'm Antonino Iorfida's mother. I'd want to say "thank you" to everybody allowed that my son lived this

wonderful experience of "Comenius". First of all, thanks to the school, "Itt. Malafarina", and to the teachers Elena Vittoria Scuteri and Savina Moniaci , that realized this project with a lot of passion and professionalism, taking lovely care of Antonino and of all the other guys. So, thanks to the city of Osijek, to the teachers and, most of all, to all theguys. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, really THANK YOU. You are fantastic, 'cause you are lovely, you are special, you are full of human touch. Go on in this way, keeping alive this feelings: friendship, solidarity, sharing. And please, give them to us, to the adults, 'cause we forgot and left them. I hug you all, leaving you with a great "VIVA L'EUROPA". I wish that Joy will always take part of our life.

COMENIUS

My name is Aurora and I’m a Italian girl.In March a new experience began for me and other boys and girls from my school. We hosted a Comenius meeting and met our partners rom Turkey , Poland, Croazia, Slovakia,Bulgaria. As I expected, we had totally different ways of life. Even if they were foreign I have tried to go beyond communication problem and I showed them my world , my life , I shared everything with them.

And so I started thinking how how many different countries, customs and habits are there in the world and how our lives can change in different places. I was sure that teenagers’ lives couldn’t be so different from each other: we are all teenagers, even if we come from faraway countries. I’m really thankful to Comenius project because I met a lot of nice people that now I miss them a lot. It was a nice experience to be able to speak English for a whole week , but beyond that we have learned many words in Turkish, Polish ,Croatian, Spanish ... Aurora

COMENIUS 2014

For me it was the first time to host two foreign girls. They were two very nice

Turkish girls. All the guys were sympathetic. We had very good time good together. We spent 5 unforgettable days and especially the last one . The fifth day we were in a house: we cooked, ate, sang, etc. The departure, was the worst moment. This was a wonderful experience and I hope to have more cultural exchanges in the future.

COMENIUS TO NIDZICA,POLAND Two weeks ago I attended a Comenius meeting in Poland. It has been a very nice experience, because for me was the first time that I lived in a family different from mine. Poland is beautiful ma it’s cold. We visited many cities, the Baltic sea, the concentration camp of Stutthof, etc. Its was a great experience to live for few days in a Polish family and meet friends from so different European Countries.

This is Weronika. She hosted me. In her family there are her parents, her brothes and a small guinea pig. Wera is a nice girl. In the evining we used to go to the pub all together where we enjoyed ourselves dancing and singing. In this trip we met many foreign students. There were Polish, Croatian, Slovenian, Bulgarian, Spanish and Turkish guys. THANKS TO THIS EXPERIENCE I LEARNED MANY ASPECTS OF OTHER CULTURES.

My Comenius Experience. In March new experience began for me and other twelve boys and girls from my school. After these five days with our partners I can say that Beauty is the world and its people. Beauty is how men and women communicate to each other, live together and try to build up a better world. We are all equal and by our characteristics we are all similar. That is Beauty. I’m really happy that I decided to take part in Comenius Project.

POLAND 21- 28/ 09/2014

I have just got back from the meeting in Poland. Me and my 2 friends spent a wonderful week there. I’m extremely lucky to have had a chance to visit so many beautiful and interesting places like Gdansk, Warsaw, Struthof and the city of Copernicus or to spend time and do some shopping in Poland . But in my opinion the best part of Comenius is meeting new friends from all over Europe. I also spent time with students who attended the meeting in Italy. All Comenius people did many things together like dancing typical Polish dances. That’s why it was so sad to say “goodbye” on the last day. It was very nice to find out something new about another culture. This visit helped me a lot with my English. I think that it was a great integration and I would like to go back to Poland in my future. I learned a lot about our western neighbours’ habits, I also had the opportunity to taste traditional dishes of the Country. I'd like to thank all the people who were in Poland and my host family. I will miss everyone and I will always remember you. Thank you for everything. I hope that we will meet in the future. Lucia Fristachi

MY COMENIUS EXPERIENCE In march 9th 2014 comenius meeting started and we hosted boys and girls from different European countries. I am Alessandro and I hosted a Polish boy. The entire week was a great learning experience for me. Speaking English to the other students during the exchange helped me improve my pronunciation, but overall it also helped my self-confidence . The project lasted a week during which we worked, we had fun,

learned a lot about history, traditions, food, way of life of other countries and also had several trips to raise awareness of our land to the guys that we have hosted. This meeting was a great experience indeed !

Comenius Project Osijek (Croatia)

2013/2014

Every travel can be interesting but if you have a nice mate and nice and beautiful teachers the travel can be the best one.

11/05/2014; Lamezia Terme; six o’clock in the morning: two Italian guys were ready for a new adventure. They went to Budapest (Hungary) and then by buss to Osijek (Croatia). In

Osijek they sow a lot of interesting things like the Osijek stadium or the quadrilla dancing;

they met a lot of important people such as the Croatia girls (my favourite ones) or the major of Osijek.

They studied, saw a new places and they went to beautiful night clubs or disco pubs to dance and meet other new guys. These two guys were me Simone Muraca and him Antonino Iorfida.

We had trust us,

a lot of fun in Comenius Project, try this emotions you too.

My Comenius meeting. Hello, my name is Maria Vittoria and I’m an Italian girl involved in the Comenius Project. This Comenius is very important for me because I can learn a lot of things and it makes me grow as a student. I love this kind of experience because it gives me the opportunity of getting to know new things and improve my English. The meeting in Italy involved teachers and pupils of the seven European Partner Schools. I want to tell you that if one day you have the opportunity of collaborating on this kind of projects, seize on it and do all that is in your hand for helping the project go on and reach a good result.

In March a new experience began for me and other fifteen boys and girls from my school. We were chosen to work on a European Comenius. With this project, I learned a lot about the culture of European countries. You can also make new friends from different countries. Especially from Spain because the boy that I hosted were Catalan. I learned that the Catalan people are friendly and very interested in their culture and country. Very important is also the Catalan carnival that brings young and old people on the street.

MY COMENIUS EXPERIENCE

MARCH 2014

March 2014, when Comenius meeting started, I was a bit worried about the new experience. we hostedseveral countries,Poland, Croatia, Catalonia, Slovakia, Bulgariaand Turkey. On tuesday we visited Taormina, a town in Sicily, where we visited the amphitheater. On wednesday eveningwe gavea party fortheir welcome, we playedour popular musicandwe taught them our folkloristicdances. the day after we went to San Floro and visited the museum of the silkworm.we had traditional Italian- Calabrian food: pasta with pumpkin. Meeting was a great experience indeed. We had fun, we learned a lot about the history, traditions, food, lifestyle of other countries. We started this adventure as strangers, but when they went away we were friends.

I learned: CROATIA Croatia is a democratic republic. In Croatia There are few regions and each one has a different culture. They have traditional dances, traditional music and also traditional food as kobasica, kulen and sarmaand.

Vincenzo MY COMENIUS EXPERIENCE IN POLAND On September 21st, I attended a cultural exchange in Poland, when we arrived in Warsaw we had a small inconvenience with the suitcases, because they arrived only 3 days later.. . Once arrived in Nidzica I met the girl who hosted me, Sandra. Her parents and all her family are very nice and kind people, they made me feel at home. On this trip we visited many places, which dealt largely with the Second World War and the Holocaust. Everything was very interesting. The way of life is very different from the Italian one, especially the food (the way of cooking, etc.).

In addition to the guided tours, in the evenings we used to meet the other Comenius friends at the pub and there we were confronting a bit 'of everything and of course about our different cultures. Apart from the inconvenience of suitcases, it was a nice experience, I visited a new European Country , met many new friends and improved my English. Now I feel myself a European girl.

MY POLISH FAMILY

Hosting was a completely My polishdad! new experience for me during the Comenius project, as I can imagine it was for all the other student hosts as well. Having someone stay with me for the week from Europe, from a country I had very little knowledge of, was both challenging and rewarding. My Comenius exchange partner appeared to be able to only speak a little bit of English. This made the week challenging in a sense as communication was difficult at times however I think this is what made us build a strong friendship with one another as we were able to help each other and often taught one another language we were unfamiliar with. When she was here she spoke of how her country was very different. It was fascinating to discover all the differences between our ways of living. I think this was one of the factors that made hosting for the Comenius exchange so very rewarding. Overall I would most definitely host again and contribute in many other exchange programmes and I think it is one of the best things I have ever done. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire week.

Pietro Oh my God! This week is out, it was the best week of my life because I met a lot of new and nice people. I've tried a lot of new dishes, like a dessert with the marmalade, (one of the traditional dishes of Croatia). Right now I don't know if I am sad or happy because I'm going to meet my loved Italian friends, yet I already miss my new Croatian friends. I hope that Iwill go back to Croatia because I wanna stay with them for a longer time.

Antonino Iorfida ITT G.Malafarina

Prof. Scuteri Elena Vittoria
