ICUEE & NECA Review, Electrical Equipment Corp of VA Visit & Happy Thanksgiving The Electrical Advertiser exhibited at the International Construction Utility Equipment Expo (ICUEE) in Louisville, KY on Sept 29 - Oct 1, 2015. This biennial show brings together utilities and utility contractors from all over the U.S., Canada, South America and International. We have been attending this show since 1985 and every two years it continues to grow. There were more than 18,000 attendees and 950 exhibitors making it the largest show in show history. Exhibitors utilize more than 1.2 million square feet of indoor and outdoor space to showcase, operate and test their new products and explain their services. The outdoor area was particularly impressive with hundreds of new utility vehicles. Although it rained each day, the outdoor space was busy and most of the exhibitors we talked to were thrilled with the attendance and results. Over 20 of our advertisers exhibited or attended the show. It was great to visit with them and see what is new with their business’. The next ICUEE show will be held in Louisville in Sept 2017. The AMC-QMQB™ brand panelboard switches are designed to replace existing FPE panelboard switches without any modifications to the existing switchboard. The AMC-QMQB™ brand switches are UL-98 Listed, File Number E466967. Originally manufactured by Federal Pacific Electric (FPE), these switches were also licensed and manufactured under the names of American Circuit Breaker, Challenger, Frank Adams, Sylvania, and Zinsco. Our QMQB™ brand of panelboard switches will replace all of these Manufacturer’s switches without any modifications to the existing switchboard.

ICUEE show management does a wonderful job putting together this large show. While the hours are long, the attendees are enthused and Louisville is a great city to visit. Congratulations to the owner of the show, AEM (Association of Equipment Manufacturers) for another excellent expo. • • • • • • Mitch Pope, James Elliott and I recently returned from the annual National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) meeting and trade show. This years convention was held in San Francisco, CA at the Moscone Center on October 4-6, 2015. This was the 61st Annual NECA Convention and the attendence was over 6,000. The show featured over 300 exhibitors with products and services specifically designed and manufactured for electrical contractors. This conference is for NECA members to learn and discuss the newest innovations and electrical code changes. This was our 31st year attending as an exhibitor and it’s always a pleasure working with the NECA staff. We were impressed with the number of new exhibitors and products at the show. There are creative minds in our industry, and it shows in the development of these new products, making it easier for a contractor to manage projects on a tight budget. New products and services don’t guarantee success, but they certainly make the contractor’s prospect brighter.

INDUSTRY SHOWCASE Let BCB Protect Your Wire and Boxes While You are Gone! Bradley Construction Blanks, also known as “BCBs”, were born out of 35 plus years of frustration from a selfemployed electrician that was tired of continually fixing and finding his outlet and switch boxes that were damaged or covered over by sheet rock installers. The damage was not intentional, but the fact was, it was still a real problem. BCBs solve these and many other problems in an easy to use and cost effective manner. BCBs are designed to be used by every electrician that wants the job done right the first time. The electricians that have used them; consistently say they will not do another project without BCBs. BCBs are constructed out of galvanized steel and have a simple but effective design. Galvanized steel was chosen to prevent any rust or discoloration to the wall finish and the strength and design of the thin plate allows the BCBs to be overlapped (gangable), this means multiple plates can be used on a two, three, or four gang electrical box, it’s simple, one plate design for all applications. Another great feature is, BCBs that have been covered over by sheet rock can be easily found using an ordinary magnet! How many times have you walked into a room knowing that somewhere on that finished and painted wall there is an outlet or switch box? BCBs are attached to any standard electrical box using the supplied captive retaining clips. Theses clips are of a special design that will work in any plastic electrical box or metal mud extension ring. Just use your thumb to push the clips into the screw holes of any standard electrical box without having to use any tools. To remove the BCBs, just insert an ordinary awl or small Philips screwdriver into the removal hole and pop off, "push on – pop off”. Replacement BCB retaining clips can be purchased separately, or BCBs can also be attached using standard 6/32 screws if so desired.
