Safeguarding Children As part of their curriculum, the children learn how to keep themselves safe. The following website has been set up by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) to offer parents and schools advice on how to raise safeguarding awareness with children. There is a notable section called ‘The Underwear Rule’ which is of particular support and guidance to parents. The website also offers advice regarding ‘online safety’ and how to obtain support or advice regarding the safeguarding of children. www.nspcc.org.uk

Music Concerts this week! It was so great to share our children's music learning in the end of term music concerts. Every child from Reception to Year 4 performed in a concert and what a showcase they were! The Reception children performed with amazing confidence, singing, acting and drumming throughout! The Year 1 and 2 children performed with great style; Year 3 showcased their part singing, solos and harmonies and Year 4 gave an amazing Big Band performance with their trumpets, trombones and dhol drums. Thank you to our Secondary Music Teachers and particularly Mr Morgan for organising the concert for Years 1 to 4 and also to Ms West for Reception's concert.

Enrichment

The London Enrichment Club recently visited the London Museum of the Docklands. The children learned about how people survived during the war, the journey of our food through the years, discovered London’s Secret Rivers and took part in a weaving activity where they all learned how to weave a bowl using a paper plate and wool! The museum is a great free day out for families and worth a visit over the break. https://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/museum-london-docklands

Fundamental Movement Skills: This term, the Year 3 students have been studying the question ‘How does my body move?’ As part of this, we have been learning all about the bones and muscles that make up our body, and furthermore we have been learning all about how we move these parts of our body, as well as the effect that diet and exercise can have. So, with this in mind, we decided to put some of our knowledge and findings to the test, and we spent the morning outside practising our ‘fundamental movement skills’. We practised running, jumping, hopping skipping, throwing and catching – to name a few! It was a great morning of fun and exercise, and an excellent way to expand upon our topic even further!

BRIDGES in the Primary Phase “We build too many walls and not enough bridges. Isaac Newton BRIDGES are habits of mind or learning characteristics that develop a pupil's character and learning power and enable him/her to grow into a well-rounded individual and resilient learner. There are seven BRIDGES habits that we will be working on, which will rotate on a weekly cycle throughout the year. The BRIDGES habit of the week will always be introduced at the beginning of the week during the Monday assembly and reinforced throughout the week across the curriculum. Each class teacher will award a certificate to a pupil that they feel has demonstrated the BRIDGES focus for the week. Each week we will update you on the BRIDGES habit that will be introduced in the coming week and offer some top tips on how to reinforce the habit at home too. Please also refer to the Primary BRIDGES wheel below.

We hope that the children will continue to develop all of their BRIDGES characteristics during the summer break and have plenty of opportunities to implement them in different contexts.
