Bienvenidos a la edición de junio de The Resident. Es difícil de creer que ya estamos casi a la mitad del año y que el clima ya está en alza. Es en esta época del año en que debemos comenzar a pensar en el riesgo de incendio. El año pasado fue un verano muy ocupado para los servicios de emergencia y esperamos que no estén tan atareados este año. Puedes ayudar teniendo mucho cuidado, especialmente cuando te encuentras en el Campo: los fumadores deben estar seguros de que se deseche adecuadamente cualquier colilla de cigarrillo (¡muchos incendios comienzan con un cigarro lanzado de la ventana de un coche!). También ten cuidado si se sales de la carretera hacia un borde de hierba, un escape caliente o las pastillas de freno pueden iniciar un incendio fácilmente en condiciones secas. Aparte de eso, aprovechemos el hermoso clima del que disfrutamos aquí. Desde que hablamos por última vez, las elecciones locales se llevaron a cabo a fines del mes pasado. En Estepona, el alcalde titular, el partido de PP de José María García Urbano recibió un gran respaldo por el trabajo que han realizado con 21 de los 25 escaños disponibles en el consejo, 4 más que en 2015, y con el mayor porcentaje de votos para cualquier ciudad en España con más de 50.000 habitantes. En Manilva las cosas no estuvieron tan claras. Un empate de casi 3 vías, con IU tomando 6 escaños, Compromiso 5 y PSOE 5, llevó a la necesidad de una coalición, y cuando IU no lograron atraer ni al PSOE ni a Compromiso, la oposición se llevó la victoria con Compromiso y El PSOE uniendo fuerzas para gobernar, con el jefe de Compromiso reteniendo su puesto de Alcalde. Una división en el voto extranjero significó que el concejal inglés Dean Shelton no pudo mantener su posición con solo 16 votos, dejando al consejo sin un representante extranjero, una situación desafortunada para una ciudad con una población extranjera del 42%. De todos modos, se acabó hasta pasados otros cuatro años, así que mientras tanto, disfrutemos del buen clima y volveremos a hablar el mes que viene. Gary Beaumont Editor

It’s at this time of year we have to start thinking about the risk of fire, last year was a busy summer for the emergency services and hopefully they won’t be quite so busy this year. You can help by being extra careful, particularly when out in the Campo - smokers should be certain that any cigarette ends are disposed of carefully (many fires begin with a ciggie ejected from a car window!). Also be careful if you pull off the road onto a grass verge, a hot exhaust or brake pads can easily start a fire in dry conditions. Other than that, let’s make the most of the beautiful climate we enjoy down here. Since we spoke last the local elections were held at the end of last month. In Estepona the incumbent mayor, Jose Maria Garcia Urbano’s PP party had a huge endorsement for the work that they’ve done taking 21 of the available 25 council seats, 4 more than 2015, and having the biggest percentage of the vote for any town in Spain with more than 50,000 inhabitants. In Manilva things were not so clear cut. An almost 3-way tie, with IU taking 6 seats, Compromiso 5, and PSOE 5, meant the need for a coalition, and with IU failing to woo neither the PSOE, nor Compromiso, this has relegated them to the opposition with Compromiso and PSOE joining forces to govern, with the head of Compromiso retaining his post of Mayor. A split in the foreign vote meant that the English councillor Dean Shelton missed out on retaining his position by a mere 16 votes, leaving the council without a foreign representative, an unfortunate situation for a town with a foreign population of 42%. Los Baños de la Hedionda aumentan sus servicios y medidas de protección para la temporada de verano
El enclave histórico de los Baños de la Hedionda aumenta sus servicios y medidas de protección de cara a la temporada veraniega, que comienza el próximo mes de julio y que se prolongará hasta el 31 de agosto, meses en los que aumenta considerablemente el número de visitantes a este recinto. Según ha explicado la concejala de Cultura y Turismo en funciones, Rocío Ruiz, estas nuevas medidas pretenden completar los servicios del entorno de los baños y suplir las carencias detectadas en la temporada anterior. Una de las medidas que se mantiene este año es el control del tráfico rodado en el
entorno de los baños entre las doce del medio día y las siete de la tarde durante julio y agosto, además la oficina de atención turística funcionará los siete días de la semana y se va a ampliar el servicio de limpieza. El acceso a la cúpula será como el año pasado con reserva gratuita que se podrá realizar en la web Ticketea, en la Casa Natal de Blas Infante o en el puesto de información instalado en el recinto de Los Baños. Con estas medidas se pretende garantizar la seguridad tanto del enclave natural e histórico como de las personas que lo visitan.

El Cádiz Club de Futbol y el Ayuntamiento de Casares presentan el Campus de Verano que tendrá lugar en el municipio del 24 al 28 de junio Esta mañana ha tenido lugar la presentación del Campus de Verano del Cádiz CF en Casares, un acto que ha contado con la presencia del alcalde en funciones, Pepe Carrasco, el concejal de Deportes Nicolás Morales, y el Coordinador del campus y de las categorías inferiores del Cádiz C.F, Jesus Gallo. El alcalde ha agradecido que el club haya vuelto a elegir Casares para celebrar su campus y ha destacado que el municipio se vuelca con el deporte, especialmente con las categorías base. Recordó el rotundo éxito en cuanto a participación y expectación, no solo en nuestro municipio, si no en toda la comarca que habían supuesto las tres ediciones anteriores y agradeció al Cádiz club de fútbol por seguir apostando por Casares como única sede para su campus en la provincia de Málaga. En la misma línea, el responsable del campus del Cádiz C.F. ha agradecido al Ayuntamiento de Casares la apuesta que hace por este campus de verano, así como la implicación municipal ofrecida para garantizar el buen funcionamiento de la actividad, que este año celebra su cuarta edición. Por su parte, el concejal de Deportes ha incidido en la importancia de trabajar por el deporte desde edades tempranas y la apuesta que se hace a la hora de transmitir valores y hábitos deportivos a los más pequeños con iniciativas como estas.
En la pasada edición el campus de verano contó con 60 participantes de Casares y localidades vecinas como Manilva, Estepona o Tesorillo. Ya está abierto el plazo para este año, las inscripciones se pueden en la web: www.cadizcf.com. La actividad va dirigida a niños y niñas de 6 a 14 años y tiene un precio de 90 para los socios del Cádiz y 100 para los no socios, además la organización ha habilitado becas para las familias con pocos recursos que pueden solicitarse directamente en la Concejalía de deportes El campus de Casares presenta dos áreas: una dirigida a los más pequeños de iniciación, en la que con juegos y actividades amenas se van involucrando valores de este deporte; y otra para los niños más grandes de perfeccionamiento de la actividad técnico-táctica. La actividad se va a desarrollar en el Campo Municipal de Fútbol Primero de Mayo desde el 24 al 28 de junio en horario de 10:00h a 14:00h. Los alumnos recibirán dos equipaciones del Cádiz, entradas para el Trofeo Carranza y serán invitados a una fiesta de clausura con los alumnos de los campus de otras localidades. Casares vuelve a ser este año la única sede malagueña que acoge un campus de verano del Cádiz C.F., junto a ciudades gaditanas como Chiclana, Cádiz, Puerto Real o Trebujena entre otras, pues como ha dicho el coordinador del club Jesús Medina “El Cádiz C.F. no tiene fronteras”.

Estepona celebra la segunda edición del Estepona celebrates the festival francés “La Fiesta de la Música” second edition of the French El Ayuntamiento de Estepona infestival "La Fête de la Musique" forma que la Plazoleta Ortiz acogerá el próximo viernes 21 de junio, a partir de las 21:00 horas, la segunda edición de “La Fête de la Musique”, un festival abierto a todos los géneros musicales, que nació en Francia a principios de los 80 y que se ha extendido por más de 120 países. En esas fechas apareció una idea en Francia: un festival gratuito, abierto a toda la música "sin jerarquía de géneros y prácticas", accesible para todos los franceses y que permitiera a todos los músicos expresarse y darse a conocer. Así, el primer Festival de Música se lanzó el 21 de junio de 1982, el día simbólico del solsticio de verano, el más largo del año en el hemisferio norte. El resultado excede ya todas las expectativas. Miles de iniciativas están teniendo lugar en toda Francia. Los músicos se establecen en todas partes en las calles, plazas, quioscos, patios, jardines, estaciones de tren, plazas, etc., y miles de personas deambulan por las calles hasta altas horas de la noche, en un ambiente festivo. El festival ha crecido rápidamente. En 2017, más de 120 países de todo el mundo participaron en el Festival de Música. El acceso a la fiesta en Estepona será libre, y contará con la actuación de “Cafe Coquette”, un cuarteto de Jazz francés, formado por músicos de amplia experiencia y formación: Yolanda Campos (voz), Fali Martínez (guitarra), Juan Baca (contrabajo) y Nicolás
Huguenin (batería). Cuentan con un repertorio de grandes clásicos de la chanson française y el jazz manouche, que viajan por la música francesa del s.XX de la mano de artistas como Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet, o Django Reinhardt, entre otros. Esta actividad está enmarcada en el convenio de colaboración suscrito entre la Alianza Francesa de Málaga y el Ayuntamiento de
Estepona, por el que la ciudad es sede para expandir en la Costa del Sol las acciones formativas que organiza esta entidad cultural francesa. Estas acciones contemplan la enseñanza del idioma en el Centro Cultural Padre Manuel, así como la celebración de otros eventos y actividades relacionados con la cultura gala, como cine, exposiciones, conferencias o festivales, como es el caso.

They have a repertoire of great classics of chanson française and jazz manouche, who portray the French music of the twentieth century with the help of artists such as Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet, or Django Reinhardt, among others. This activity is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the French Alliance of Malaga and the Town Council of Estepona, whereby Estepona is the headquarters to expand the training activities organized by this French cultural entity on the Costa del Sol. These actions include the teaching of the French language in the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre, as well as the celebration of other events and activities related to the Gallic culture, such as cinema, exhibitions, conferences or festivals, as in this case.

El Ayuntamiento proyecta un pasaje que unirá The Council plans a passage that las calles Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios y La will connect the streets of Nuestra Portada Señora de Los Remedios and La El Ayuntamiento de Estepona inPortada forma que va a construir un nuevo pasaje que conectará las calles Portada y Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios, en pleno casco histórico. El Consistorio ha proyectado este nuevo espacio tras alcanzar un acuerdo con los propietarios de una antigua vivienda, que será demolida para poder ejecutar dicho pasaje público en su lugar. El nuevo espacio tendrá una superficie de 84 metros cuadrados y estará adornado con naranjos y cipreses, además de otro tipo de plantas ornamentales, como buganvillas y jazmines. La zona se pavimentará con adoquines, como en otras calles del casco antiguo y se colocará, además, mobiliario urbano y nueva iluminación. La teniente alcalde del área de Fomento, Infraestructuras y Turismo (FIT), Ana Velasco, ha destacado que el nuevo pasaje cumple un doble objetivo; “por un lado embellecemos y ganamos nuevos espacios públicos para el disfrute de los vecinos, y por otro facilitamos la comunicación entre las calles del casco antiguo que cuenta con manzanas muy amplias que obligan a los peatones a hacer largos recorridos para desplazarse a calles colindantes”. En este
caso concreto, se abrirá un nuevo acceso desde el casco histórico al barrio Solís, permitiendo la comunicación de esta zona con el centro antiguo de la ciudad. Dentro del proyecto ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol’ el Ayuntamiento ha creado ya un total de 8 pasajes en solares ocupados por viviendas antiguas y que ahora pasan a ser zonas públicas. Entre esos pasajes se encuentran Los Patitas, María Cintrano, Francisca Contreras, Felipe Campuzano, Aljibe, Alicia Villapadierna, El Jardín de los Poetas andaluces y Ortega Vela. Todo estos espacios se encuentran en el casco antiguo y han permitido mejorar considerablemente el tránsito en calles
para las que antes era necesario dar un rodeo Velasco ha añadido que “con la remodelación del casco urbano, no solo se embellece la ciudad y se recuperan nuevos espacios para el ciudadano, sino que reactivamos la economía de la ciudad con este tipo de inversiones productivas que generan empleo en las empresas locales”. Por último el equipo de gobierno continuará trabajando para que el centro histórico de Estepona sea un enclave de interés turístico y de ocio, donde los visitantes disfruten de uno de los cascos antiguos más bonitos de Andalucía y donde los ciudadanos recuperen el ambiente de vecindad.
Estepona Town Hall has announced that it is going to build a new passage that will connect the Calles La Portada and Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios, right in the historic town centre. The Town Hall has planned this new space after reaching an agreement with the owners of an old house, which will be demolished to be able to execute said public passage in its place. The new space will have an area of 84 square metres and will be adorned with orange and cypress trees, as well as other ornamental plants, such as bougainvillea and jasmine. The area will be paved with cobblestones, as in other streets of the old town and street furniture and new lighting will be installed. The Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT) Councillor, Ana Velasco, stressed that the new passage meets a dual objective; "On the one hand we embellish and gain new public spaces for the enjoyment of the residents, and on the other we facilitate communication between the streets of the old town that has very large blocks that require pedestrians to make long journeys to travel to adjacent streets". In this specific case, a new access will be opened from the
historic centre to the Solís neighborhood, allowing access to this area from the old town centre. Within the project 'Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol' the Council has already created a total of eight passages on lots occupied by derelict buildings which have now become public areas. Among these passages are Los Patitas, María Cintrano, Francisca Contreras, Felipe Campuzano, Aljibe, Alicia Villapadierna, The Garden of Andalusian Poets and Ortega Vela. All these spaces are located in the old town and have made it possible to considerably improve traffic on streets for which it was previously necessary to make a detour Velasco added that "with the remodeling of the urban area, it not only beautifies the city and creates new public spaces, but reactivates the economy of the town with this type of productive investments that generate employment in local companies." Además de Estepona, la primera edición de este evento recorrerá los municipios de Benalmádena y Rincón de la Victoria, con un total de 27 conciertos simultáneos a cargo de una decena de bandas internacionales. La diputación de Málaga, los ayuntamientos de las tres ciudades participantes, Unicaja Banco y asociaciones hosteleras colaboran para la puesta en marcha de este festival, que pretende convertirse en una convocatoria de referencia europea. Las actuaciones son de entrada libre, y tendrán lugar a las 22:00 horas, en la playa La Rada, a la altura del Monumento a la Peseta:

El Parque Botánico-Orquidario de Estepona alberga la floración de más de 200 especies diferentes El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que el Parque Botánico Orquidario tiene en floración, actualmente, más de 200 especies diferentes. Tanto la primavera como el otoño son las épocas de más floración por lo que se convierten en fechas claves para disfrutar de la belleza extraordinaria de estas plantas. Entre todas las especies que se encuentran ahora mismo en floración destacan dos debido a las altas exigencias que requieren para su cuidado. La primera de ellas es la Encyclia Adenocaula. Se trata de una planta originaria de los estados del Pacífico de México que se caracteriza por tener una flor muy hermosa con colores que van del rosa palo al púrpura. Se trata de una especie muy rara en las colecciones porque no florece fácilmente ya que requiere descansos prolongados y épocas con luz muy intensa, según ha explicado el curator del Orquidario, Manuel Lucas. En este sentido, ha apuntado que se trata de la tercera vez que esta especie florece en España. La segunda especie que destaca por su rareza es la Euchile Citrina, también originaria del Pacífico mexicano. Una de sus
peculiaridades es que cuando recibe luz solar intensa las hojas y los pseudobulbos se vuelven de color azul. La flor de esta orquídea es de color amarillo y desprende un intenso olor a limón. Lucas ha explicado que la floración de ambas especies es muy complicada ya que son originarias de una zona con un clima muy contrastado. Necesitan frío en invierno y nada de agua y calor en verano y no son especies aptas para aficionados debido a que requieren cuidados muy específicos. Por otro lado, cabe destacar también la floración de grammatophyllum stapeliiflorum que pertenece al género con las orquídeas más voluminosas del planeta. De hecho algunas especies pueden proporcionar ejemplares que alcanzan varios kilogramos. Cabe recordar que el Parque Botánico Orquidario alberga especies únicas que raramente pueden contemplarse en Europa. En junio de 2018 floreció el primer ejemplar de ‘Amorphophallus prainii’, una especie procedente del sudeste asiático de la familia de la flor más grande del mundo. Esta especie, que floreció por primera vez en un parque público de España, se
caracteriza por su belleza y por un desagradable olor a carne podrida que utiliza para atraer a los insectos que se encargarán de polinizar la flor. Este Parque Botánico cuenta con más de 3.000 especies y se ha convertido en una de las atracciones más visitadas de la ciudad. Los empadronados en Estepona tienen dos entradas gratuitas al año que pueden recoger en las oficinas del Ayuntamiento en el edificio Puertosol o en la antigua Casa Consistorial, ubicada en la plaza Blas Infante, enseñando el DNI. El edificio del Orquidario, que se inauguró en marzo de 2015, está dividido en dos niveles que se encuentran a cotas diferentes y separados por un precioso bosque de bambú, cuenta con una superficie de 1.000 metros cuadrados de superficie y 15.000 metros cúbicos de volumen. El edificio posee tres cúpulas recubiertas de vidrio que se han convertido en sus señas de identidad y que han cambiado por completo la fisonomía del municipio. La bóveda principal del inmueble alberga decenas de especies de orquídeas y una gran cascada, que sorprende a los visitantes que observen la cúpula desde su interior.

Estepona’s Botanical-Orchid House currently has over 200 different species in flower
Plant enthusiasts will be interested to know that the Estepona Orchid House currently has more than 200 different species in flower. Both spring and autumn are when most of the collection is in flower so they become key dates to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of these plants. Two of the species that are currently in bloom stand out due to the high demands they require for their care. The first one is the Encyclia Adenocaula. It is a plant native to the Pacific states of Mexico that is characterized by having a very beautiful flower with colours ranging from pale pink to purple. It is a very rare species in the collection because it does not flower easily because it requires prolonged breaks and periods with very intense light, according to the curator of the Orchid House, Manuel Lucas. In this regard, he pointed out that this is the third time that this species has flourished in Spain. The second species that stands out for its rarity is the Euchile Citrina, also originating in the Mexican Pacific. One of its peculiarities is that when it receives intense sunlight, the leaves and pseudobulbs turn blue. The flower of this orchid is yellow and gives off an intense smell of lemon. This species, which flowered for the first time in a public park in Spain, is characterized by its beauty and an unpleasant smell of rotting meat that it uses to attract insects that pollinate the flower. El Ayuntamiento informa que ha finalizado las obras de remodelación de la primera fase de la avenida de Andalucía, que contribuirá a reforzar la actividad comercial de la zona y a aumentar el número de plazas gratuitas de aparcamiento. Este ambicioso proyecto que en los próximos meses será ejecutado en otros tramos de esta arteria, es uno de los más importantes que se llevarán a cabo durante este mandato porque mejorará y transformará una de las zonas más transitadas de la localidad. Los trabajos realizados en esta primera fase, que han comprendido desde la intersección con la avenida de España y Camino de Los Molinos, han consistido en la creación de 40 nuevas plazas de aparcamiento para coches y 32 para bicicletas, la instalación de 9 fuentes de agua potable, 5 láminas ornamentales de agua, 97 bancos que permitirán el descanso de los paseantes, la plantación de 70 árboles nuevos que se suman a los que ya existen en esta arteria, la creación de 760 metros cuadrados de zonas verdes con especies tapizantes, la colocación de 122 luminarias en la red de alumbrado público y de 52 papeleras. Asimismo, se han eliminado
las barreras arquitectónicas existentes, lo que ha permitido ganar áreas para los ciudadanos. Además se ha acondicionado los espacios cercanos a los comercios para hacerlos más accesibles y se ha puesto en valor el entorno con una serie de actuaciones de mejoras en la jardinería. Esta remodelación también ha supuesto la renovación de forma homogénea de la pavimentación y el mobiliario urbano de este enclave con materiales nobles y elementos de diseño modernos y eficientes. Esto a su vez irá acompañado de una señalización viaria y una señalética renovada y actualizada que redistribuirá los pasos de peatones. Por otro lado, este proyecto ha incluido la mejora de la red de saneamiento con un nuevo colector de aguas fecales y adaptación de la red de aguas pluviales a la nueva sección, reposición de elementos deteriorados en la red de abastecimiento, ejecución de una red de riego y de alumbrado público y mejoras en la red de infraestructura de telecomunicaciones y de la red de distribución de gas natural. La empresa a la que se adjudicó estos trabajos es la UTE Urinci Proyectos Técnicos y Obras Civiles, que ha desarrollado la obra con un pre-
supuesto de 2.297.314 euros (IVA incluido), un 20 por ciento menos de la estipulado en el presupuesto base de licitación, además esta empresa redujo el plazo de ejecución de los trabajos en cuatro meses. A través de la remodelación de la totalidad de la avenida Andalucía el Consistorio quiere convertir esta arteria en una ampliación del casco antiguo, creando así un espacio más moderno y atractivo para los vecinos y turistas. Además, de contribuir a fomentar y revitalizar las relaciones sociales en la zona tras conseguir un espacio estéticamente más agradable que fomentará el desarrollo de actividades al aire libre. Este proyecto de reforma del entorno de la avenida Andalucía está siendo financiado con la subvención de 10 millones de euros que ha obtenido el Ayuntamiento de Estepona por parte de los Fondos Europeos de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER). El Consistorio ha podido optar a estas subvenciones por encontrarse al corriente en sus obligaciones de pago con la Seguridad Social y la Agencia Tributaria, y por presentar una serie de proyectos que contribuyen al desarrollo sostenible de la ciudad.

Selwo Aventura inaugura Territorio Sabana, el hábitat del Rinoceronte Blanco El Alcalde de Estepona, José María García Urbano, y la directora de Selwo Aventura, María José Marañón, han inaugurado hoy Territorio Sabana, un nuevo hábitat especialmente adaptado para acoger al Rinoceronte Blanco, especie africana que se encuentra en grave peligro de extinción. El nuevo hábitat es una instalación especialmente adaptada para acoger a Setemba, un joven macho de esta emblemática especie que forma parte del programa de Especies en Peligro de Extinción (EEP) de Selwo Aventura. En un futuro próximo se incorporarán al nuevo territorio otros dos jóvenes machos de rinoceronte blanco. El primer edil ha destacado el gran trabajo que lleva a cabo el equipo humano de Selwo Aventura con los más de 2.000 animales que viven en este parque, algunos de los cuales pertenecen a especies amenazadas. Mercadillos rinoceronte blanco Setemba, un joven macho procedente del Zoo Pair Daiza de Bélgica. Este animal forma parte del programa de Especies en Peligro de Extinción (EEP), que es gestionado por la Asociación Europea de Zoológicos y Acuarios cuyo objetivo es la reproducción y banco genético de esta especie, así como la reintroducción in situ en sus habitats de origen. Asimismo, ha declarado que la inauguración de este nuevo espacio, se incluye en el programa de actividades y actos que se están llevando a cabo para conmemorar el 20º aniversario de este parque de naturaleza, y que daba comienzo a principios de año con la puesta en funcionamiento de una instalación de puercoespines del Cabo. Así, durante todo 2019 el Ayuntamiento y el parque organizarán eventos de forma conjunta para seguir celebrando las dos décadas de estas instalaciones.

The new habitat is a specially adapted facility to house Setemba, a young male of this symbolic species that is part of the Species in Danger of Extinction (EEP) programme of Selwo Aventura. Two other young white rhinoceros males will be added to the new territory in the near future. The Mayor has highlighted the great work carried out by the Selwo Aventura team with more than 2,000 animals living in this park, some of which belong to the list of endangered species. He also stressed the continuous spirit of innovation and renewal to which this natural space is maintained, with the intention of improving the quality of life of the animals and offering new services that interest visitors.

l Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que este lunes, 17 de junio, se celebrará el acto institucional para dedicar a la figura de Irene Villa la avenida que da acceso al Hospital de Estepona. Con este evento, que dará comienzo a las 13.00 horas de la tarde, se rendirá homenaje a la joven que se convirtió en un símbolo de la lucha contra el terrorismo de ETA desde que en 1991 sufriera un grave atentado en el que perdió las piernas y varios dedos de su mano izquierda.
El alcalde, José María García Urbano, ha señalado que con la denominación de esta calle se quiere reconocer el mérito y la capacidad de superación de Irene Villa, que pese a sufrir un grave atentado cuando tan sólo contaba con 12 años de edad, ha sido capaz de cumplir todos los retos profesionales y deportivos que se ha ido fijando. A ese respecto, el regidor ha recordado que Irene Villa ha conseguido una amplia trayectoria en varios ámbitos. Así, es licenciada en Comunicación Audiovisual, Psicología y Humanidades, colaboradora en varios medios de comunicación, escritora, columnista y ponente en múltiples seminarios y conferencias. En cuanto a su carrera deportiva, Irene Villa es una reconocida esquiadora alpina paralímpica, que ha ganado varios oros compitiendo a nivel nacional. En 2011 fue Campeona de la Copa de España en la modalidad de silla, en marzo de 2013 se convirtió en Campeona de España de eslalon y subcampeona de España de Súper Gigante y eslalon gigante. También le han concedido diversos galardones, como el del Club Rotario de Madrid, el Premio Niños de Europa (Londres), en 1992 fue nominada para el premio Príncipe de Asturias de la Concordia y para los Premios de la Victoria (Washington), Garbanzo de Plata en 2000 por su labor y coraje, entre otras distinciones.

La Noche De San Juan dará el pistoletazo de salida a las ferias y fiestas de Manilva
Del 23 al 24 de Junio vuelve una de las noches mágicas y uno de los acontecimiento más esperados que coincide con el solsticio de verano. Para que vecinos y visitantes disfruten de la noche que inicia la programación festiva del verano, el Ayuntamiento de Manilva ha organizado varios espectáculos de luces, fuegos artificiales y música en directo.
La plaza del Cali seguirá siendo el lugar elegido para que a partir de las 20.00h se vaya creando el ambiente necesario para dar colorido a San Juan. La tradicional quema del “júas” en las playas de Sabinillas iluminará la noche más corta del año. Una puesta en escena que un año más diseña el artista local Juan Oliva con gran acierto. A las doce de la noche son
muchas las personas que aprovechan para purificarse, lavándose los pies y la cara en el agua del mar, mientras piden tres deseos; los más atrevidos saltan las pequeñas hogueras, otros arrojan al fuego las peticiones escritas en un papel o las cosas malas con las que quieren acabar. Noche que ahuyenta los malos espíritus y ayuda a que el amor aparezca.

The traditional burning of the “júas” on the beaches of Sabinillas will illuminate the shortest night of the year, with the centrepiece being the huge tableau, designed by local artist Juan Oliva, which will be lit at midnight, followed by fireworks and more
music into the early hours. El servicio de limpieza de barcos ratifica la calidad de las aguas del litoral manilveño
El pasado 1 de junio comenzó por tercer año consecutivo el servicio de limpieza de barcos puesto en marcha por Acosol en el litoral que conforman los municipios costeros que pertenecen a la Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental. Cabe recordar que en dicho acto estuvieron presentes tanto la concejala de Playas en funciones, Eva Galindo como su homónimo en el Ayuntamiento de Manilva y responsable de la oficina técnica en Mancomunidad, Marcos Ruiz. La flota consta de 4 embarcaciones de litoral y 9 de playa para la recogida de sólidos flotantes y/o semi-sumergidos, así como hidrocarburos y oleaginosos. También 2 embarcaciones adicionales Gavina 500 y
una embarcación Pelican de reserva, para los casos de emergencia. Su principal función es la prevención de episodios de contaminación en las zonas de baño y la recogida de sólidos flotantes, grasas, y otros residuos, en aguas de mar abierto, hasta seis millas de distancia de la costa. Los responsables de las embarcaciones, que realizan su actividad de lunes a domingo en horario de mañana y tarde, ofrecen informes diarios a los Ayuntamientos para que conozcan el estado de las aguas y el volumen de material que se recoge. En los primeros días de faena, reina la normalidad y las aguas se encuentran en perfecto estado.
Cleaning service maintains the quality of the waters off of the Manilva coast On June 1, for the third year in a row, the cleaning service set in motion by the water utility company Acosol began on the coast covering the coastal municipalities that belong to the Collective of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol (Mancomunidad). This event was attended by both the councillor for Beaches, Eva Galindo and Manilva councillor Marcos Ruiz, who is also responsible for the technical office in the Mancomunidad. The fleet consists of 4 coastal and 9 inshore boats for the collection of floating and / or semi-submerged solids, as well as oils and fats.
There are 2 additional boats, a Gavina 500 and a Pelican in reserve, for emergencies. The main function is the prevention of pollution in the bathing areas and the collection of floating solids, fats, and other waste, in open sea waters, up to six miles away from the coast. The boat operators, who carry out their activity from Monday to Sunday in the morning and afternoon, offer daily reports to the Town Councils so that they know the state of the waters and the volume of material that is collected. In the first days of operation they have reported that the waters are in perfect condition.

Dame el numero de mi vecino!!! Legislación sobre protección de datos en España Hay gente que tiene la impresión de que la legislación en España es menos estricta que en otros países y que sus acciones no tienen consecuencias legales. No nos referimos a acciones criminales; nos referimos a acciones relacionadas con la protección de datos, cumplimiento de normativa genérica, normativa de régimen interna comunitaria, ordenanzas locales, etc. (especialmente cuando hablamos de ruido y mascotas) Antiguamente los datos de contacto de cada uno eran de conocimiento común para todos, por lo que todos tenían el número de todos, la gente no tenía restricciones para dar su número o el de otra persona, el email, la dirección de la casa, etc. Estas restricciones eran estándar en otros países de la Unión Europea, pero aquí no nos lo tomábamos tan en serio. Comunicarnos ahora es mucho más fácil, pero la legislación a aplicar es mucho más compleja y las multas pueden llegar a dar miedo. Hay muchísimas quejas por incumplimientos y nosotros, con la cantidad de información que administramos como Administradores de la Comunidad, debemos ser muy muy cuidadosos con la información que damos y para qué la damos, asegurándonos siempre de cumplir la normativa de la unión europea. 1. Números de teléfono personales, correos electrónicos y datos generales de contacto. No podemos proporcionar los datos de contacto de otros propieta-
rios, no importa cuánto insistan o para que los necesiten. Lo que sí podemos pasarles es un correo electrónico o detalles de contacto con autorización. Por lo que, si nos envías un correo electrónico, podemos reenviarlo con tu autorización, pero la entrega de datos personales libre está completamente prohibida. El Presidente puede tener datos de contacto de todos los propietarios, pero no puede usarlos para nada que no sea estrictamente un asunto comunitario. Puede ponerse en contacto con un propietario directamente si tiene un problema como una fuga de agua, pero no puede enviar un correo electrónico publicitario o para vender algo, ya que esto podría infringir la protección de datos. Además, cualquier correo electrónico enviado, ya sea del Presidente, la Administración o cualquier otro propietario, debe enviarse en copia oculta, ya que las direcciones de correo electrónico también están consideradas en la ley de protección de datos. 2. Información AGM / EGM. Cuando se trata de deudores en comunidades, nos encantaría poder nombrarlos y ‘ponerles la cara colorada’, pero no podemos. No podemos publicar las listas de deudores en los tableros de anuncios o en las páginas web o grupos de Facebook. El único momento en que podemos hacer públicas estas listas es cuando hay una Junta General o una extraordinaria, y la lista se adjunta para que los propietarios morosos sepan que no
pueden votar. Hay una excepción más, si la comunidad está tomando acciones legales contra un deudor y no puede comunicarse con él para notificar estas acciones, es posible y en algunos casos necesario, publicar una carta a este efecto en el tablón de anuncios por un tiempo limitado. Pero nada más, estas listas no pueden circular, todas las deudas son entre el propietario y la Comunidad y, aunque todos los propietarios son parte de la Comunidad, todos los propietarios no tienen acceso ilimitado a información delicada. 3. Otro elemento son las cámaras de video vigilancia en la Comunidad y quienes pueden verlas. La comunidad está grabando imágenes en un zona pública, y puede haber niños presentes que hagan estas imágenes aún más delicadas, por lo que no puede estar conectado a un sistema wifi
configurado para que un propietario (o el presidente o el comité) pueda ver las imágenes desde su casa. Las imágenes deben ir a un disco duro. Estas imágenes, independientemente de que se almacenen en un disco duro o que se puedan ver en una televisión con pantalla múltiple, solo las puede ver un guardia de seguridad certificado, no un conserje, ni el Presidente, ni ningún otro propietario. Para ver estas imágenes necesitas estar debidamente certificado. Si hay un problema que puede haber sido grabado en las cámaras, como un robo o vandalismo, los propietarios no pueden simplemente ir y mirar la grabación, se debe presentar una denuncia en la policía para permitir que las imágenes se vean y se descarguen de la cámara para presentarlas en el juzgado si fuera necesario.
Por lo tanto, la protección de datos se debe tener en cuenta en España, pero también se debe ser muy cuidadoso con el derecho al honor y el derecho al olvido en foros públicos y grupos de Facebook. Además de Protección de datos, en España ahora se controlan mucho estos dos aspectos, ya que la reputación, tanto personal como profesional está muy protegida, así que tened cuidado con lo que decís y las imágenes que publicáis ‘online’. Can I have my neighbor’s number? Data protection legislation in Spain
When you live in Spain, you sometimes have the feeling that laws are softer here, that people do as they wish and that there are no consequences to actions. We aren’t talking about criminal actions; we are referring to things like data protection, compliance, rules and regulations, local laws, etc (especially when we talk about noise and pets!) Items like peoples personal information, used to be public knowledge, so everyone had everyone’s number, people had no restrictions in handing out someone’s number, email address, home address, etc. Restrictions that we felt were standard in the uk or other countries. Communications are much easier now, but the legislation is much harder on complaints and non compliances, and, with the amount of information that we manage as Community Administrators, we have to be very, very careful with the information we give out, as we have to comply with the EU legislation for data protection, and the fines are pretty hefty!!
1. Personal numbers, emails, and general contact details. We cannot give you another owners contact details, no matter how much you insist or the reason for you asking. But we can pass on an email or contact detail to them. So if you send us an email, we can forward it with your authority, but handing over personal data is completely restricted. The President however, can have owners contact details, but he/she cannot use them for anything that is not strictly community business. He can contact an owner directly if they have an issue like a leak, but he cannot send a publicity or marketing email trying to sell something as this would be in breach of data protection. Also, any emails sent out, either from the President, the Administration, or any other owner, must be BCC, as your email address is also under the data protection act. 2. AGM / EGM information. When it comes down to debtors in communities, we would love to be able to name and shame, but we can´t. We can’t publish debtor lists regularly on the notice boards or on web pages or facebook groups. The only time when we can make these lists public is when there is an AGM or EGM and the list is attached so that those owners know that they are unable to vote. There is one further exception, if the community is taking legal actions against a debtor and they can’t reach the owner to notify these actions, then a letter to this effect can be published on the notice board for a limited time. But nothing else, these lists can’t be circulated. Any debts are between the owner and the Community and although all owners are part of the Community, all owners do
not have unlimited access to delicate information. 3. Another item is cameras in the Community and who can see these. The Community is recording images in a public area, and there may be children present that make these images even more delicate, so you cannot have a wifi system set up so that you (or the president or committee) can see the images from home. The images need to go into a hard drive in the cctv. These images, regardless of them being stored on a cctv hard drive or visible on a multi-screen tv, can only be viewed by a qualified security guard, not a concierge, not the President, not any other owner. To view these images you need to be properly qualified. If there is an issue that may have been recorded on the cameras, like a theft or vandalism, the owners cannot just go and look at the recording, a police report needs to be filed to allow for the images to be viewed and released to the court if that were the case. So data protection is to be taken into account in Spain, but you must also be very careful with who you name and shame on public forums and facebook groups. As well as Data Protection, Spain is now very sharp on attacks on someone’s honor or reputation, both their personal and professional reputation, so be careful with what you say and what pictures you publish online. 28 de junio se llevará a cabo el primer Trail Nocturno 2019. Esta iniciativa ha sido organizada
por el Ayuntamiento de la localidad, a través del área de Juventud y Deportes, con la inestimable colaboración del Club Senderista Los Kruos. En este Trail Nocturno también se contará con el apoyo de Protección Civil Manilva. Según la organización, el Trail tienen un recorrido de 10 kilómetros aproximadamente y un desnivel de 300 metros. La salida de esta prueba no cronometrada se llevará a cabo en la calle Mar en Manilva pueblo a las nueve y media de la noche. Durante el trayecto podremos encontrar diferentes puntos de avituallamiento con agua y fruta para los participantes. Cabe destacar también que habrá trofeos para los tres primeros clasificados en las modalidades masculina y femenina. Las inscripciones son gratuitas y ya están abiertas. Para ello han de dirigirse a la oficina de Deportes, ubicada junto al campo de fútbol, o llamar a los teléfonos 952 89 15 32 y 619 72 53 21. Esta actividad tendrá un marcado carácter solidario ya que se colaborará con la Fundación Aladina, entidad que ayuda a niños que padecen cáncer. Durante el evento se instalarán huchas en las que cualquier persona, que participe o no en la prueba, podrá aportar su granito de arena en forma de donativo.
I Night Trail Manilva 2019 Coinciding with the celebration of the Manilva 24 Hours Sports Tournament, the first Night Trail 2019 will be held on Friday June 28. This initiative has been organized by the Manilva Town Council Youth and Sports Department, in collaboration with the Club Senderista Los Kruos hiking club. The Night Trail will also be supported by Civil Protection Manilva. According to the organization, the
Trail has a distance of approximately 10 kilometres and a vertical climb of 300 metres. The departure will be from Calle Mar in Manilva town at nine thirty in the evening. During the trail we can find various refreshment points with water and fruit for the participants. There will be trophies for the top three finishers in the men's and women's categories. This activity has a charitable angle, collaborating with the Aladina Foundation, an organisation that helps children suffering from cancer. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN NIE CERTIFICATE AND A RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE? What is an NIE number? Is it the same as a residence number? Which one proves residence in Spain? These are some of the most common questions that a foreigner may have when coming to Spain. The NIE number, (in Spanish “NUMERO DE IDENTIDAD DE EXTRANJERO”), is basically a tax identification number for foreigners, which is issued by the police on a certificate. It is a personal number which will always remain the same and will be used for example, when buying a property or a car, and when paying the purchase taxes. It is not possible to purchase a property in Spain without an NIE number. Getting an NIE number does not allow foreigners to reside in Spain. Although EU citizens can live in Spain, people of other nationalities would need to apply for residence certificate, (a different much more complicated procedure than getting an NIE number). The Manilva Municipal School of Music is planning to celebrate the end of the 2018/2019 course with concerts on Tuesday 18 and Thursday 20 June. The first of these events will be at
the Civima Auditorium Tuesday 18 starting at 7.30 pm where they will perform popular songs such as campanitas, vals rosa, blues, la llorona and a performance of Bohemian Rhapsody.
In this case, the students of the school will form the instrumental ensembles, the advanced, choir plus the chorus of the students of musical language. On Thursday 20, from 8.30 pm
in the Parque del Duque, the teachers, the music band, the copla workshop, the choir, along with other groups of students such as the contemporary classical, flamenco, together with
the inter-level collaboration of dance, will stage pieces like La Bamba, España cañí, sevillanas, tangos, bulerías, cantiñas, boleros and also more contemporary songs.

La exposición de Lego en el Muelle Uno abrirá todos los días
La ciudad de Málaga acogerá desde el domingo 16 de junio una exposición temporal de modelos construidos con piezas Lego en la zona de Muelle Uno del puerto de Málaga. En concreto, la muestra dispondrá casi cien maquetas con más de cinco millones de piezas Lego. Se trata, según la organización, de una exposición "irrepetible y sin precedentes", además de contar con una escala "impresionante". Así, se podrán ver un Titanic construido con medio millón de Lego, un modelo con once metros de largo y tres metros de altura con todo lujo de detalles. También se ha preparado una zona especial Star Wars, con más de cien modelos relacionadas con la saga y donde se muestran las naves, escenas, personajes, armas, bases y las batallas más conocidas, han indicado en un comunicado. El Ayuntamiento de Estepona informa que el Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de la localidad acogerá durante los días 29 y 30 de Junio la III Exposición de Coches y Motos Clásicas en el Palacio de Congresos en Estepona. El evento tendrá un lugar en el interior del palacio y también fuera del recinto. Habrá más de medio centenar de coches y motos clásicas. Además, habrá un mercado con recambios, música en vivo (de la época), foodtrucks, sorteos y muchas otras actividades. En el exterior, habrá un espacio habilitado para los clubes y las personas que acuden al evento con su vehículo clásico. Durante los dos días que durará el evento se ofrecerá la posibilidad a los interesados de tener un stand o espacio para su empresa o vehículo clásico totalmente gratis y libre de cargas. Además de un gran número de empresas que ofrecen servicios y productos concebidos para coches y motos clásicas, el evento reunirá medio centenar de coches y motos clásicas procedentes de

The Love to Sing Choir helps to raise nearly 1800 euros for Alzheimers and Dementia Support
The locally based, well renowned choir, Love to Sing, is delighted to announce the total amount raised for the Alzheimers and Dementia Support group (ADSI) from 2 events some choir members organised and in which the choir itself took an active roll performing their summer repertoire is a whopping 1,798â‚Ź! These events consisted of the first ever, local, Spring Garden Party, held at Duquesa Golf Club on May 12th when the general public could buy tickets in advance for a quintessentially English cream tea, which were sold out within the first 6 days of availability! Also taking part were Sami James and Jazz and Coffee, 10 stall holders including an ADSI stall which held an amazing raffle including tickets to some live music events both here and in the UK and the choir performed with gusto their latest repertoire. The sun shone, the Pimms Bar did a roaring trade, enormous amounts of clotted cream scones were made and
eaten and a thoroughly good time was had by all who attended and took part. It was such a success that many have requested a repeat next year! The second fund raiser was a cake and pastries stall the following weekend at the International Residents Day. Again, a massive effort was made to produce pasties, sausage rolls, cakes, chutneys etc., 95% of which were homemade, and this was also a sell out event! The choir decided to raise funds for this charity in particular, because the shop in Sabinillas is in its infancy and needs all the help in setting up they can get, but also because none of us is getting any younger and this is an awful illness which is now affecting so many. Deborah's story "The first time I called Samaritans, I was having an extremely difficult time in my first job. I had moved away from home and was proud of my independence; I worked hard and kept myself to myself. Sadly though, a man at work started sexually harassing me, which brought on a huge sense of misplaced guilt. Unaware that I was dealing with other internal battles from my childhood, I was destroyed by what was happening. I was confused because the way I felt was so profound and I didn’t know who to turn to. I took an overdose as a result of the painful feelings I was experiencing. "Despite being convinced that suicide was the answer, thankfully I made the decision to call Samaritans. It turned out to be the first of many times they would save my life." Deborah used Samaritans frequently. She found that it helped her cope with feelings of

isolation. For Deborah, knowing that there was always somebody at the end of the phone ready to give her the time and space to talk when things got tough, made her feel safe. Sadly, a few years later, aged just 27, her life took another difficult turn. Her mother had become seriously ill and she was asked to move home to be a full-time carer. Just over a year later her mother died – by which point, Deborah was struggling to cope with the way she was feeling. "I was told that I had a nervous breakdown. I just remember being numb and very, very scared. I didn’t feel safe when I was on my own; I felt trapped in an extremely dark place. I was in hospital for 18 months before I was well enough to get back to my old life." Deborah describes how tough it was to readjust after leaving hospital: "I honestly felt so much
safer in a hospital environment. I couldn’t sleep; I didn’t dare leave the house. I just felt totally alone. This is when I got in touch with Samaritans again. Samaritans helped Deborah to break her problems down. She now passionately believes that there is a rich life out there for everyone, provided they have the tools to deal with life’s challenges. "By the time you are thinking of taking your own life, you have forgotten that you are more than able to work your way through your problems. Samaritans know that you are the expert in your life and that with the time and space to talk, you can break your problems down. “I would say to anyone going through something similar: don’t wait until you are feeling suicidal to ask for help. You can call Samaritans about anything that is upsetting you."

Club Vecinos y Amigos We have had another busy month at Vecinos y Amigos, your local international club. We held a very successful Noche de EspaĂąa on the 8th June with tapas and paella and lots of music and dancing.
There was a trip to Benalmadena on 11th June and on Thursday 20th June we are having Afternoon Tea at Royal Ascot Ladies Day, with the aid of our newly installed WiFi.
Plans for San Juan on 23rd June are well under way, as are an afternoon of watching the Wimbledon Men’s Final with a bar and refreshments on Sunday 14th July and a Moraga on the beach on 24th July. All the usual activities are continuing, Petanca on Ancha beach on Tuesday mornings, Art Group on Wednesdays, Yoga and Spanish Conversation on Thursdays, Craft Group and Bingo on Fridays and Coffee Mornings every Saturday. There will be a special Membership Renewal Coffee Morning on Saturday 6th July. There will be a member of the Committee available on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays to answer queries and questions and to take any monies for events. Do come along and join us, we will make you very welcome. We are situated next to the back entrance to The English Book Shop in Sabinillas.

There are now three local Age Concern Organisations operating between Sotogrande and Mijas following a reorganisation of the overall structure aimed at enhancing the help we can give older people living in our communities. En Sabinillas, una de las tiendas vende ropa, zapatos, sombreros y accesorios de segunda mano, mientras que la otra vende una amplia gama de muebles usados, objetos decorativos, artículos para el hogar, libros, CDs, DVDs, etc. En la tienda de Cancelada se pueden encontrar todos los mismos tipos de artículos que en las dos anteriores además de muebles más grandes como sofás y camas. Gracias a las generosas donaciones recibidas, hay nuevos artículos en todas las tiendas a diario. ¡Pásate por las tiendas regularmente para no perderte ninguna ganga! Además de contar con algunos artículos geniales, las tiendas benéficas de St George también ofrecen la opción de alquilar algunos de sus ofrendas como sillas de ruedas, muletas, cunas de viaje, etc. La organización de la tienda siempre agradece las donaciones

BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group In response to a tragic situation earlier in the year a number of local residents came together to form the BuddyUp (Manilva) Community Support Group, a ‘befriending’ group to provide support, comfort and a point of contact for people facing a variety of challenges. The BuddyUp group is coordinated by Marguerite Wilkins, and already has a number of members signed up. Working closely with other local charities and organisations, including the Duquesa Charitable Society of St George, Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Citizens’ Advice, Cudeca, Social Services, etc., the group aims to provide support and advice for the elderly, disabled, those who have recently lost a partner, single parents, divorcees, the socially excluded, people that are new to the area, in fact anyone who might need someone to talk to or just pointing in the right direction.
BuddyUp volunteers work in pairs and have access to a wide range of resources to call upon depending on the needs of those they are assisting. Saint George Charity Shops The St George Charity operates three charity shops, two in Sabinillas, Manilva and one in La Cancelada, Estepona. In Sabinillas one of the shops sells quality second hand clothing, shoes, hats and accessories; whilst the other sells a wide range of secondhand furniture, decorative items, household goods, books, cds,
dvds, etc. Our shop in La Cancelada sells the same full range of secondhand items as our Sabinillas shops and also stocks larger items of furniture and beds. Thanks to our generous donors there are new items in the shops daily, so visit regularly so as not to miss out on that fabulous bargain.
As well as stocking some great quality items the St George Charity shops also rent out various items such as wheelchairs, walking aids, travel cots, etc. The shop management welcome donations of quality secondhand items, and can arrange collection if needed. We are also looking for secondhand books, especially in languages other than English, to populate are extensive bookshelves. Food Bank The Saint George Charity runs a food bank initiative to help local people who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, and invites people to donate non-perishable goods, such as long life milk, pasta, rice, biscuits, tinned meat and fish, tinned vegetables, etc., along with toiletries, personal hygiene and cleaning items.
The charity will supplement these items with fresh produce, and will distribute on a weekly basis to a number of individuals and families that have been identified as being in urgent need of this service. Items can be donated at the St George Charity Shop in Calle Aurora Albornoz, Sabinillas, from 10 am to 1.30 pm Monday to Saturday.

A meeting of contrasts
The Costa Press Club held its meeting this month in Malaga city, with a visit to one of its top tourist attractions, the English Cemetery, followed by a meal at one of its newest restaurants, the Hard Rock Café. At the cemetery
members were given a guided tour and learned all about plans to attract yet more international visitors in the future, as well as the current options available for the interment of ashes, either in the vertical garden
or in traditional graves in the burial ground. From the beautiful and historic peace of the cemetery the group moved on to Muelle Uno for a high energy rock’n’roll themed dinner in very different surroundings!

RASTRO Un tenderete y otro... Ahí mismo, de todo hay si lo quieren: ropa, flores, zapatos, discos, juguetes... El sol de las doce lo vende una muchacha. Ah, y el murmullo o el grito de llamada: “¡Ana! ¡Anita! Cuánto tiempo sin verte. (Es inmenso este rastro). Ana, ¿y los niños, y tu marido, cómo están...?”. Esa voz precipitada provista de un sonido popular y firme. Un cesto, una mujer mayor que mira, cómo es posible mirar todavía, ser, buscar entre retales un amarillo claro: “¡Ay, mi nieto, qué guapo estará con el traje que le haré!”. Y todos intentando vender: “...Niña, diez duros, ¡a diez duros menos el kilo!”. El aire, en silencio, moviendo el mantel y acariciando una lámpara, se despierta en mariposa. Más tarde, el viento mueve un toldo; la luz intensa, el tobillo duele y una rozadura del nuevo zapato hace que Elena se detenga, pero allí sin embargo no venden tregua. Llegan al rastro algunos corazones. Otros, presos en el asfalto, compran libertades; y otros, sonido de los pasos, en ecos de la tierra, compran ríos subterráneos. “...Que hermoso el tapiz que ha comprado Paquita”. “No queda ya ninguno...” . Otro grito, otro lucirse con algún retal: “Escoged, escoged... Mirad, aquí hay más, debajo”. ...Comienzan a recoger los tenderetes. Vendieron a quienes no conocían, pero ese trato a la gente... Se van, se van y miran y hasta otra jornada. Y vuelven otro día. Y al principio, en ese eco, un pueblo es un nombre:

Quien llega y busca, llegare y vendiera, algo que ganar. Un tenderete, quien pasa y es, ser todavía, como la mujer que hurga entre retales. ¿Adónde va?, pero, ¿ va sola? Respira como ama y muere, musgo en los umbrales, asiera el verano de la abuela, en la salita, retales de la vida, mechones, trigo de los quehaceres del bordado. Ser la vida o pausa en su forma de ir, pueblo, ciudad del rastro al borde de una sombra que hoy escucha, se oye como venden; el rastro y la mirilla: vigilaría una niña escapada de la escuela para comprarse un beso. Qué hacer si dos perros se pelean Presenciar una pelea de perros es una experiencia muy desagradable, especialmente si uno de los dos es el tuyo, ya que es inevitable preguntarse qué es lo que has hecho mal, o si de algún modo se podría haber evitado. Partiendo de eso te voy a decir qué hacer si dos perros se pelean, para que en el caso de que veas alguna sepas cómo actuar. Sigue este paso a paso: 1. Ten la mente fría y calmada. Independientemente de quiénes sean los perros, es muy importante mantener la mente fría, y sobretodo calmada. Cuanto más nervioso/a estés, peor se comportarán los animales, y peores podrían ser las consecuencias para el que tenga menos fuerza. 2. Ahora, ve hacia ellos rápido y cógele la cola a uno o sus patas traseras. Pide a alguien que haga lo mismo con el otro. Puede parecer un poco cruel, pero hay que pensar que en ese momento los animales es-
tán muy tensos y que sólo miran a su ”oponente”. Si cualquier persona optara por ponerse en medio de los dos, recibiría un mordisco. 3. Una vez que estén sujetos los dos perros, hay que tratar de separarlos. Sin hacer movimiento bruscos, pero con firmeza. Id dando pequeños pasos hacia atrás hasta que estén lo suficientemente separados como para que podáis ponerles las correas. 4. Una vez las tengan, distanciaros aún más del otro perro. Idos a un sitio en donde no puedan verse, sin decirles ni una sola palabra. 5. Después, echad golosinas para perros en el suelo para que hagan un poco de olisqueo, así lograrán calmarse. Es muy importante que si uno de los perros es el tuyo y/o no te ves capaz de poder hacer nada, entonces que pidas ayuda. A quien sea. Además de no hablarles, tampoco hay que pegarles ni

Does lifting weights makeyou bigger? Heavy weights increase the power and strength of your muscles without significantly adding bulk or size, especially for women. This means that everyday physical tasks get easier, and consistent training will increase the amount of weight you can lift. You’ll look stronger, too. The average female gains around 20 to 25 pounds of fat between the ages of 20 and 50. Weight training can also raise a person’s metabolic rate for as long as 12 hours after exercising. That means that if you lift weights, your body will burn calories faster. When you lift weights, a large part of the stress is on the nervous system, not necessarily the muscles; heavier weights equals more signals from brain to muscles. That means, without any other changes to your routine, lifting heavy weights will only make you stronger, not bigger. By lifting weights I mean something heavier than your handbag or pint! Own the “big four” The squat, deadlift, bench press, and shoulder press are the best strength-building exercises, period. Use barbells first. Forget all the fad equipment, buy a 15 k bar and weights for
beginners and a 20 k for intermediate. Keep it simple, warm up the body part you will be using before lifting the bar. Maintain a log, what weight, how many reps, how did you feel? Don’t overdo it, just because it doesn’t hurt when you lift doesn’t mean it won’t hurt tomorrow. Add weights slowly. Get advice from a professional if you are new to lifting. Technique is soo important not how heavy you can lift. Lifting weights can transform a body shape, but be patient, burning off fat is faster than growing muscle. Club Rugby del Estrecho News
Over the last month all the Rugby Teams from Club de Rugby del Estrecho have been competing in the Spanish Rugby Championships. The best result by far goes to the SUB 10 team who won their age group in Valladolid which they have been training and preparing for all season. On 26th May the Sub 10 team from Rugby Club del Estrecho left Pueblo Nuevo on a 10 hour bus trip to the Spanish National Championship in Valladolid. A team of 11 players all excited to play the sport they all love so much, Rugby The trainer Arturo Lopez started the season in September 2018, with a group of young talented boys some of whom had never touched a rugby ball before, he has worked tirelessly with these kids turning them into accomplished players On Saturday 7th of May the tournament started at the sport centre ‘Pepe Rojo’ where the team had to play 5 matches in one day. Their opponents were all big clubs from Valencia, Barcelona, Valladolid and Madrid. Some of these teams were asking “where is this small club ‘Estrecho’, where do you come from?” They started each game by standing in a circle, holding each other and screaming out loud: “Quienes somos? HERMANOS! A qué vinimos? A JUGAR! Quienes somos? ESTRECHO, ESTRECHO, ESTRECHO!” Translated: “Who are we? Brothers! - What are we going to do? Play! - Who are we? Estrecho, Estrecho, Estrecho!” They clearly meant every word. They played like brothers, real team mates, fighting for each other. They played amazingly well, as a team, with their hearts in the right place. Their defence and tackling was unbelievable. Their attacks were perfectly executed which led to many tries. All the months of hard training and sacrifice was paying off. On that first day they won ALL 5 matches and ended as the leaders in group E. Nobody expected a small club like Estrecho to achieve this. It was definitely clear why they were here now! On Sunday 28th May they had to play another 3 matches, this time against
Valencia, León and Granada, again big clubs. Well, the unimaginable happened: this group of 11 warriors from a tiny village called Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro won again ALL 3 matches making them winners of their group! 8 matches played and 8 matches won, they are now champions of the ‘World Cup’ division of the Spanish National Championship. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience for all players, trainers and parents. Next year nobody will have to ask who they are…. WE ARE? ESTRECHO, ESTRECHO, ESTRECHO!!! On Thursday 30th May the Sub 16 Rugby Awards where held at Bahia Limon on Torreguadiaro Beach: Ale Gonzalez - Player of the Year Alex Peat-Diable - Players’ Player of the Year Isaac Ruiz - Most Improved 2nd Year Ben Burgess - Most Improved 1st Year Massive Congratulations to Alejandro Gonzalez and Aroa Manso de Zuniga for making it to the Spanish Academy Training - the first players in CR Estrecho’s history to achieve this. Also Congratulations to 4 girls of the Estrecho girls Sub 16, Stella Barbera, Teresa Aja, Teresa Gutierrez, Aroa Manso de Zuniga who have made the selection for the Andalucian 7’s team. Beach Rugby Training has now started and takes place on the beach next to Bar Lemon in Torreguadiaro from 7 pm to 8.30 pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Alberto Zerrada obtiene dos trofeos en el Torneo Corpus de Espada Ciudad De Granada El pasado fin de semana tuvo lugar la IV edición del Torneo del Corpus de Ciudad de Granada. Esta competición reúne a los esgrimistas de diferentes modalidades de esgrima tanto deportiva como histórica. Participaron especialistas de diferentes edades de multitud de clubes andaluces y salas de armas invitadas que practican estas disciplinas en el territorio nacional. Los deportistas en estos singulares combates disfrutaron e hicieron disfrutar al público de asaltos deportivos así como duelos con espadas roperas del siglo XVII. El maestro del Club “AndaluZía” Alberto Zerrada medallista de esta modalidad en el pasado Campeonato de España de Esgrima Histórica participó en ambas categorías consiguiendo subir al podio en sendas especialidades. En esgrima deportiva disputó la final contra J. Ramírez del club madrileño haciendo vibrar a los asistentes al evento. En esgrima antigua tuvo que realizar 7 duelos con los mejores especialistas de la modalidad ganando la mayor parte y obteniendo un nuevo trofeo para nuestro Salón de Armas sito en el Castillo de La Duquesa.
Este máximo fin de semana también participamos en la competición de Esgrima de las 24 horas deportivas de Estepona y una competición amistosa en Chiclana de la Frontera donde María Maldonado realizó una

Alberto Zerrada takes two trophies in the Corpus de Espada Tournament Ciudad de Granada Last weekend the 4th edition of the Granada Corpus Tournament took place. This competition brings together fencers from different types of fencing, both sporting and historical. Competitors of all ages from many Andalucian clubs and weapon rooms from across the country took part. Both the participants and the spectators enjoyed the competition as well as the recreation of d seventeenth-century duels complete with period dress.
The master of the Club "AndaluZía" Alberto Zerrada medalist of this category in the past Spanish Championship of Historical Fencing participated in both categories getting to the podium in different specialties. In sports fencing he played the final against J. Ramírez of the Madrid club, much to the excitement of the audience. In ancient fencing he had to perform 7 duels with the best specialists of the category winning the most part and obtaining a new
trophy for our Arms Hall located in the Castle of La Duquesa. In this great weekend of sport we also participated in the Fencing competition of the Estepona 24hour sports marathon and a friendly competition in Chiclana de la Frontera where Maria Maldonado put in a great performance.
