With the summer boredom of test-matches only and some really poor dealings being made by Polish clubs, I’m often asked whether there is still anything to watch out for in the Ekstraklasa. Well, as usually, I’m here to put the record straight – yes, tune in for the 2013/2014 season. First of all, those in the league are finally looking like they do have a clue and that those bastards competing in the Champions League (we all envy them though) may be doing something right. So Legia is trying to copy several academies and their systems, as well as building training base that would be one in its kind in the country. Others, often made so by the PZPN’s salary cap punishment, turn to local, young and unfound talent to offer them a chance of a life-time. Which they are eager to take and then realize on the pitch, in contrary to so many bored footballers who are simply taking their places. Now, in the hard economically times, with chairmen looking at each penny twice and watching each performances three times, they knew they can afford themselves similar or better quality for less. Welcome, Polish football, to the time of competitiveness for the Ekstraklasa job! And, in case you are wondering, our football still have its colours. Wisła offered trials to 30-year-old teacher who happened to work in England some time ago and be a goalkeeper at the same time. Then there was a student that made a video of himself which, in fact, was a video of other players. Yes, he was invited too. But somehow Poland still attracts those who can kick the ball in the right way – Lech signed promising left-back Barry Douglas, Legia have Helio Pinto who graced European pitches in the Champions League, Śląsk made their dealings in a smart way and you will see by the way Marco Paixao moves. Lechia have signed the former Ligue 1 player (Daisuke Matsui) and as did Pogoń Szczecin (Danijel Ljuboja, for what it seems). Youngsters will have someone to learn from. Above all, there are still our great fans, possibly one of the greatest treasures our game has, if only too little too troubling at times. But take them away and there will be some sad, half-empty ground with grey surroundings and silence as footballers take the pitch and kick around in the most boring ways. Or it may be Bielsko-Biała indeed. But even that small and laughed at Podbeskidzie is developing. They are building new ground, hoping for a better future. In a year or so, maybe up to fourteen clubs from the table will have safe and nice looking grounds. The image of the Ekstraklasa is constantly changing, developing for the better. It is vital to know that we are all responsible for that. While smiling at the another opportunity to see our teams in action we should also know what comes with it – Europe will notice Ekstraklasa rather sooner than later (even if stronger clubs already did) and we shall be prepared. Clubs with structures, fans still as loud and perhaps causing less headache at times, players with the right attitude, managers with ideas and time to put them into reality, youngsters with proper grounds to keep learning the game, pundits with fresh views and willingness to explain rather than take the easy road of critique. In all those departments we have to improve. We may be cursing at another poor season in Europe, at Poland’s failure in the qualifications to the international tournament or another domestic talent choosing subs bench abroad, but the aim should be simple. The ball kicks off in the Ekstraklasa this Friday, so lets all take a move. Be it to the stadium, training ground or board meeting, Polish football is not someone’s else game. We own it – lets cherish and take care of it, always with a smile. The season is back. Michał Zachodny Editor, EKSTRAKLASAreview & #Ekstraklasa Magazine

It seems like we’ve been away forever. In fact it was just 45 days from the final kick of 2012/13 to the opening whistle of 2013/14. But whilst the clubs have had their week or two in the sun, and their pre-season training camps, we at EKSTRAKLASAreview.co.uk and #Ekstraklasa Magazine have been hard at work preparing our Season Preview edition for you. It hasn’t been easy. Constant contract cancellations, new and exciting signings - all the time being reminded of what we were missing. From Jakub Kosecki’s surging runs to Kasper Hamalainen’s excellent finishing., and from Marcin Borski’s poor decisions to Ugo Ukah’s even poorer tacking, it seems like an eternity has passed since we were last able to get our Ekstraklasa fix. With so much going on in Polish football at the moment, this coming season will be intriguing in more ways the one. Not only do we get the return of the Kraków Derby (a must on any footballing calendar), but we also have a whole host of changes to grapple with. First of all, we have the Ekstraklasa reforms. Whilst an extra seven matchdays will only be of benefit to us supporters watching from the stands and on the television, how it will affect the dynamics of the league is still up for contention. With the winter break coming after Round 21 rather than in its usual position after Round 15, it will be hugely important for clubs to get a good Autumn round under their belts. Failure to do so could eventually be the difference between an assured eighth-placed finish and a relegation battle. Whilst the Ekstraklasa is making its changes, the lower leagues are having a revolution of their own - one that isn’t going down too well in some quarters. With the abolishment of the Młoda Ekstraklasa, clubs have been allowed to enter reserve teams within the league structure. This in turn has led to some clubs dropping a division when their league positions didn’t necessarily suggest that they deserved it. On top of that, the PZPN’s decision to merge the II Liga’s two groups into a single national league leaves 36 clubs battling against 20 relegation positions - the fourth tier will face similar next term. There will also be much more focus on the Polish lower leagues next season as two huge clubs, Polonia Warszawa and ŁKS Łódź, will both start in the fifth tier. With the planned reforms taking place, it will be at least six years before either returns to their place in the top-flight. With the season still in its infancy there is plenty of talking points, discussions, controversies and comedy stories. Whilst we may not be able to predict who will win the league or get relegated, one thing we can be sure of is that there will be plenty more to talk about over the coming months. Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? When manager Wojciech Stawowy said that our squad is good enough to be in the Ekstraklasa, despite Cracovia struggling in the title race in the 1. Liga at the time, I believed him. And, for what is worth, keeping most of that side will do us more good than harm - we have good balance and some quality individuals.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Yes, we have done it - we have kept Saidi Ntibazonkiza again. After the longest dispute in the recent history of Cracovia, I think that may be our best move this summer. Or even finding Marcin Kuś' papers to register him after that kept him from playing at Górnik for last six months. I do wonder though, why the hell we bother with Dawid Nowak - I like his skills, but he will never stay fit for one whole year!

What is the biggest current problem at your club? The only problem I can think of is that Cracovia always hoped to be something more. I think we should keep our feet on the ground for little longer. The owner should keep his hand off the managerial trigger even if we hit the bad form - Stawowy is really smart guy, I like him, he can move us forward. But he needs time and confidence - and for some reason, Cracovia lack both.

How do you see your club performing this season? We won't fool anybody - it will be a long and hard season, though I hope we keep our playing style. We are quite patient in the build up play, but lacking quality up front - if Boljević kept his scoring boots clean this summer, we may do better than I think, though. Marek Kaszyński

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? No matter what squad we have, the most important factor is the coach, Adam Nawałka and it is his responsibility how Górnik will play. But he still hasn't signed new deal. Skorupski's leaving, along with Kwiek and Bemben, are our biggest holes to fill, except for the goalscorer. In the test matches we were not scoring goals, and we don't even have someone average for the league. It's a problem since Arkadiusz Milik left.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Positively, especially when you look at the conditions. I'm happy to see Skorupski leaving but I still think we should get more for him and possibly Nakoulma and Olkowski. It's also nice to see the backs of Bonin and Zahorski, they both have been paid for nothing. As for the quality of our transfers - it's hard to rate them and I want to be careful, last year I've made a big mistake with Gancarczyk. I thought he will be a disaster but he turned quite the opposite. That's why Małkowski, Madej, Cupriak, Sobolewski and Skrzypczak have all a blank sheet of paper, hopefully filling them with positive notes.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Finances, obviously. Górnik had a transfer ban and salary cap which proved hard to cope in the market, but it's been worse, when we haven't had three new stands in the making, good squad and miracle-making coach. I don't like how federation banned our fans from away games as well.

How do you see your club performing this season? The aim is simple - we have to make it for the top half of the table after 30 rounds, then whatever happens will be fine. But if the stands are ready and full of fans, I think that something more can kick off in Zabrze, something better. Despite the changes and losses, I can see Górnik making it for the top eight. Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Finally, finally we look to have a more balanced squad. It seems that Piotr Stokowiec, our new manager, agreed with what every fan could see and brought players that will fill the gaps at the back and up front. Even without the missed Tomasz Frankowski we can look optmistically after some disastrous round under Tomasz Hajto. Well, to be fair, any progress will be a positive now!

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? We did well actually, but the most important thing is to have Nika Dzalamidze back. I love this player, how he tricks his opponents and finds gaps in their defence with smart passes... Also, Mateusz Piątkowski, striker from Dolcan Ząbki, is one to watch in the league, in my opinion. Hopefully Bekim Balaj from Sparta's reserves will add some competition in our goal where we had some problems last year.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Jagiellonia's problem is the fact that we still don't know what to expect from Piotr Stokowiec. Is he really as magical manager as he was presented under some crazy conditions at Polonia Warszawa? Or maybe he is simply average guy, ex-player turned manager quite too early? For what is worth, he looks ambitious and hopefully he proves himself in the eyes of every Jaga fan.

How do you see your club performing this season? We have to make progress, simple as that. Top eight is achievable, with young and promising squad maybe some final push for the top five spot is also an option. I hope for some good fun in the domestic cup too, despite shorter squad than we had last season. More stability in the team would be nice too! Michał Szwarc

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Finally, finally we have got rid of some deadwood. Seriously, I loved this squad and how they fought on the pitch, but to see some of them making it to the professional football was maybe too much. But Foszmańczyk, Bodzioch, Derbisz and Kijanskas all left, as well as Jamróz and they won't be missed. The relief could be heared all round in Kielce!

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? We are stronger than we were - enough said. Daniel Gołębiewski may look as if he is tripping with every contact with the ball, but he has some scoring sense that will prove vital for our team. Jacek Kiełb signed for longer, as good as it gets, he feels at home in Kielce. I don't quite like the fact that we have signed Przemysław Trytko, which I think may be a problem given how poor skills he has. I will be happy if he proves me wrong!

What is the biggest current problem at your club? The biggest problem is that, for some reason, the local authorities along with local police forces, have made it their case to create the atmosphere they think is the best for Kielce. We have great and loud fans, but the way they are treated by authorities is beyond me - punished for cursing, often kept at the stand for some silly reasons... Our club is harmed by this, other fans are kept out of the stadium as well. I can't see the end of this silly conflict…

How do you see your club performing this season? I'm sure Leszek Ojrzyński will tell his players to bite opponent's legs off if only that means we will make it for the top eight. I believe that is the aim of most of the teams this season too! I can't wait for Maciej Korzym to get back to playing football again, and if we stay up and he scores the winning goal in his comeback, I'm good with that. Arkadiusz Sterlik

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? It's not great, to say the least. Although we can hope that youngsters finally prove their worth (Frankowski, Dawidowicz, Kugiel), or those a bit older as well (Duda), this is not the squad that can fight for something more than mid-table positions. That's the head talking, the heart still opts for the title (at least)! Then on the other hand, you have to know that this is the Ekstraklasa where everything can happen. I have mixed feeling for our new boss (Michał Probierz) too - he struggled a bit recently but he must be given a chance. He had all the time this summer to prepare them, tactics and new signings. We could hear over last few days that they will sign someone, but whenever someone says there are some transfer funds at Lechia, I take it as a joke.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? As someone on our site wrote - one Japanese doesn't make the success. And if you add Grzelczak, Surma and Rasiak (yes, even him) to the losses, it gets even worse. Maybe Pazio and Tuszyński will do something to make me apologize for such harsh rating of our transfer activity? It's good to see Mateusz Bąk back, he came all the way with Lechia, from 6th league to Ekstraklasa. I still think he can be our number one. Ricardinho and Piotr Brożek leaving us are not a big loss - both have been medicore.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? I think the board and lack of funds. At least the owner, Andrzej Kuchar, finally may not allow us to end in the Ekstraklasa's tail. But we are still not really a professional club. It looks as if we are only some toy or quick-earning thing for him, while it's a crying shame he won't sell it to someone who has a plan for Lechia. Instead of European Cups, we have Kuchar...

How do you see your club performing this season? Huge unknown. One thing can be certain - if Matsui Daisuke's wife, Kato Rosa, comes to the stadium with Anna Przybylska they can make some spectacular view. For the more on-field issues - I hope for sixth place and a win in friendly with Barca of course! Czesław Pieczur @LechiaNet and @CzeslawPieczur

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Lech's squad is similar to the one from previous season. The only difference is that we are mentally stronger and better cooperating than twelve months ago. We still don't have wide midfielder and a defender. One week before the kick off, we haven't bought the players to look optimistically for the solid performances in each competition, which should be our aim.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Hard to say - transfer market is still wide open, and transfers are often made late in Poznan. Two players joined the team so far, and if no one else comes then it will be average transfer window for Lech and fans will be unhappy.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Our biggest problem is the tempo of our transfer activity. Negotiations are very slow, very long as our board tries to negotiate every single detail to save some money. That's why players join us late and we can't prepare full squad for the kick off of the season. The only advantage of this system is that we are not overpaying for footballers, neither we are creating debts with huge wages.

How do you see your club performing this season? Our aim is the title, group stage of the Europa League and the longest adventure in the Polish Cup as possible. Europe is our biggest priority, because in as average league as ours, we will easily make it close to the top and Europe again. Top three and spring in group stages in Europa League is what I think as our reality. Arkadiusz Szymanowski, KKSLech.com

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? We have a very strong squad, the best in Poland for me. In keeper we have a fantastic player with solid substitute. Obviously Artur Jędrzejczyk is a loss and we can't say how Dossa Junior will replace him, but it is still quite good for the league. Midfield is getting better and better - stars of the league (Radović and Kosecki), solid workers (Vrdoljak or Kucharczyk) and youngsters (Furman and Łukasik) followed by few more. It's a good mix and I have to note that there are still new players, Helio Pinto and Henrik Ojamaa. Finally, our strikers - Saganowski and Dvalishvili can guarantee us at least 20 goals in the season. Mikita and Efir are pushing forward as well, hopefully with the latter coming back from injury soon.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Again, even without the obvious bias, I think Legia made the best dealing in the league. We can see it by the past of those new players. Only Lech Poznan can match us with Pawłowski and Douglas. But let's look at new at Legia - Wandzel is one for the future, as well as those either from reserves (Mikita and Mizgała) or coming back from loan (Cichocki). Dossa Junior will step in for Jędrzejczyk, which will be hard but he knows his job. Łukasz Broź it's someone standing out in the league, but even here he will be only a second option. Ojamaa is injured but proved he is dynamic player with powerful shot and can make even better impression than Tonev who moved to Aston Villa recently. Helio Pinto was APOEL's leader in the Champions League and his role will be similar at Legia. Maybe one more striker will come, if someone special occurs.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? We look as we don't have serious problems. Very solid team, the board and the chairman are cooperating well with Jan Urban and moving in the same direction. Financial situation is stabile as well, even if there are some rare delays. Fans are as loud as possible at every game. Injuries are a headache, Ojamaa and Astiz are sidelined at the moment, while Pinto, Junior and Raphael Augusto are not fit for 90 minutes. All those issues, however, can be worked out pretty quickly I believe.

How do you see your club performing this season? My prognosis is as optimistic as the summer weather outside - Legia will fight for each trophy domestcally. We are not out of chances in Europe as well. The Champions League will be a great adventure, but no one should be mad if we don't make it. The group phase of the Europa League should be fine as well, while getting further will be great. Doing the same as Maciej Skorża's Legia did - fighting with PSV and Sporting - will be something more to praise Jan Urban for. With this squad we can defend the title and shine in Europe. Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Our squad is a bit of an unknown to be honest. New players are spoken highly of and should be definitely an valuable addition but the pitch will tell in the end. The most important thing is to see Wojciech Kędziora back from injury, who, along with Marcin Robak, should be the key to our attacking performances in the upcoming season.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? The window is still open, as they say, so it's quite hard to rate our activity. With previous seasons proving that every addition showing some quality and making the squad stronger, I have to believe in what and how they are doing it. So it's definitely positive summer.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? With our club being run in the right way, being stabile financially, and getting stronger on the pitch with long-term planning and trust in coach, the only problem could potentially be the number of fans turning up to watch Piast play. But crowds are getting higher with each year which is positive as well!

How do you see your club performing this season? It will be very hard to make this season as successful as the previous was - for a very obvious reason too others will change their style to beat us. They know us, know our tactics. But finding ourselves in the top eight after first round is not beyond the quality of Marcin Brosz's side, I believe. Piotr Rajper, @prajpert

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? I would really say that there is nothing wrong with our team if Robert Demjan would be still around. But now it's different story really - we have some solid squad and I'm sure under Czesław Michniewicz they will cause some problems to the best sides as well, but lack of our best striker will be telling very soon.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? It's telling enough to look at the clubs we have bought players from. LZS Piotrówka? Arka Gdynia's reserves? Kolejarz Stróże? Some average side from Hungary? Really? We all hoped that last season was a lesson for all concerned at Podbeskidzie, but it's staggering to see that some of them think our squad is good enough to stay up.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Which, in turn, is exactly the problem of our club. We look as we don't belong to the league. Of course, our stadium is under construction and as is the team, but the progress on both is too slow and the reality may eventually catch us. Hopefully Czesław Michniewicz works his miracles again - but would that be enough?

How do you see your club performing this season? I dread for another poor start to the season as the one we had last year. To be perfectly honest, I believe we are not the worst in the league, but also we should spend the campaign biting our nails each weekend in hope that nothing bad happens. Will the nightmare come back? Five points from the drop will be good for me, oh yes. Michał Kowalik

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Dariusz Wdowczyk was given a green light to clear his team out of players who are either on the other side of the river, or are not even close to what fans demand from them. Now our team is maybe made up of some less known players, but Wdowczyk may have more battling side and this is what counts the most. And if one final, last-minut deal is pulled off…

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? ...then yes, our transfer window ends in a success. Hey, we are talking about Danijel Ljuboja now. Playing for Pogoń! For me, he can drink all he wants and train twice a week if he repeats some of this magic from Legia. We needed someone like him, a leader and a quality player as Edi Andradina ends his beautiful career. I hope Mikołaj Lebedyński gets his chance at Pogoń again, I know his potential and he may be the pace we need up front.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? The problems is... everywhere you look, really. The stadium is a ruin, fans are bored or disgusted by the way team performed last season, and finances are poor. I think that this season for most people at the club means a final go at making something special. If they fail, I can only hope we want repeat our recent slump into the lower leagues.

How do you see your club performing this season? We should stay up, although I won't expect us to make it to the top eight. Hopefully Danijel Ljuboja will find his soulmate in Edi Andradina, and the two of them will drag the team forward to claim the number of points enough to stay up before the second round starts. Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? When I watched our game with Wisła Kraków on the last weekend before the league starts, I was surprised. Finally, our squad looked like they knew what they were supposed to do on the damn pitch! Passing our nicely, organized at the back, pressing high up in stages... Maybe there is some life in the side that avoided drop only because Polonia was kicked out of the league?

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Now I'm really satisfied - Babiarz is clever midfielder, Dziwniel looks more solid at the back than we could see from all our defenders before, while Surma should add not only the experience but also the sould Jacek Zieliński knew what he was doing by kicking some of the players past their best - where even the best meant not good enough for Ruch! Pesković, Straka, Panka, Lewczyk, Kikut, Djokić - we had enough of you guys, cheers!

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Cash, or rather lack of it. We don't have funds to be optimistic about the future, neither our ground will change enough to compete with even the mid-table sides... but in the words of Jacek Zieliński, our coach, maybe the salary cap will do us some good? We need to learn how to cope in certain conditions and I see our place in the Ekstraklasa even with one of the lowest budgets in the division.

How do you see your club performing this season? Long and hard battle to stay up - if we are solid enough, then there will be party at the end of the season even if we avoid the drop even by a single point. To be fair, all we want to see is something more from our players, more commitment and quality than we had last year. That should do. Krzysiek Wesołowski

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? As Stanislav Levy says, we are still short of at least three players. To be fair, Śląsk's defence is even worse than it was in spring, when we were sinking goals, especially at the end of the troubling season. The obvious problems up front were solved despite some players leaving the club but Śląsk lacks balance and it may prove deadly for Levy's team.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? The glass is half empty, sadly. Śląsk moved quickly and had targets prepared, while Dudu Paraiba, Sebino Plaku and Marco Paixao are all looking as certain starters for the first games of the season. But when players expressed desire to leave, Kowalczyk and Ćwielong, we knew that problems would start. Replacements were not found and not even new deal for Sebastian Mila makes it sweeter.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? The structure is a problem, really. Coach gets very angry whenever he has to answer questions about the transfer activity, pointing out that despite some progress has been made with attacking-minded players, Sport's Director and the board forgot to spare some funds for strengthening the defence. And even players express their disappointment when they hear that new players are signed and old debts are still unpaid.

How do you see your club performing this season? Śląsk should be fun to watch but it will be hard to keep the results same each week. I guess that without proper organization of the team Śląsk may end up fifth before the table is split in two, and then make the final surge for the top three finish, which is definitely our place to be. As for Europe, I just hope for something more than last year - which means no shameful performances, please. Michał Zachodny, Slasknet.com @mzachodny

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Straight after summer break our squad was a nightmare. Broź left for free, Phibel, Abbes and Pawłowski were heading out as well. But that trio is staying for the time being, which thankfully keeps our core with Okachi, Mielcarz and Kaczmarek. Additions to the current squad can be only young and talented players from lower leagues, which are a risk but can turn sensational. We may even had a better squad than we did in spring.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Because of bans and salary caps from PZPN, Widzew had it tough to move around the transfer market. We could sign only free players and pay them no more than 5,000 PLN per month, which is very low. But Widzew found some talented guys with a point to prove, who want to show themselves, not earn first Kwiek, Kowalski, Staroń or Godwin Antwi. It will be some summer if our squad turns better with such problems.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Finances of course. Because of the state of our club, the owner Mr Sylwester Cacek decided to announce bankruptcy. Thanks to that, we can pay our debts under supervision to come clean eventually. The infrastructural problem may be solved by the decision of the city to build Municipal Stadium at Widzew. New ground and paying off our debts create much better perspective for fans.

How do you see your club performing this season? Once again, we are tipped for the relegation, but our team can surprise quite a few. The league is crazy, everyone can win against Legia and then lost to the bottom of the table team. We can fight for survival or make it for the championship group, which would be a huge success and I think it is doable for the squad. The only conditions are to stay ambitious and cope with organizational and financial situation. With the latter we have promise from our board, now time for the players to speak out on the pitch. Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? With just the final week left to the league, Wisła's squad is far from complete - to be honest, we can't even say what our starting line up is. The first problem is the keeper - Michał Miśkiewicz may be good in 1-on-1 sutations but he makes costly mistakes as well. Our strongest point is the heart of the defence - Arkadiusz Głowacki, Osman Chavez and Jovanovic, Czekaj, Bunoza, Nalepa and even Uryga all compete for two spots. But then full backs are a problem, on either side we lack experience. We should put more pressure on Małecki and Sarki, our wingers. But the man who should score goals, 20-year-old Jose Romo is big unknown. Some say he is a big talent, but he is also our only striker. Hoping that only 14 players will be enough to cope in the league may turn out pretty naive very soon.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? We knew which players will leave the team. Our board had all the time to find good players in their place but they failed miserably. Lots of players were tested, but only Romo and Guerrier were watched before. Smuda says a lot about good scouting but he is not using it at all. Obviously it may turn out that Romo is a super-striker while Stjepanovic turns out the leader of the team but that will only prove his luck. Our Brazilian scout and ex-player, Cleber, will send two more of his players after the first duo turned disastrous. The only thing we can say about Fabian Burdenski is that he won't be worse than Daniel Brud.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Professionalism, or rather lack of it. They had so much time to find proper players, counting on muchdiscussed and praised scouting structures, but all they did was to take anything that moves and is recommended by their friends-football agents. We should have had deals finalized in June. We had some student from Romania and teacher from Krosno on trials! It shows what they think of fans.

How do you see your club performing this season? We have enough quality to make it for the championship group, or even for top five. With good stamina, we can shake the league. But our short squad and 21 games in autumn may quickly prove the opposite. Subs are poor and we can only count on the starting eleven. Małecki and Sarki may give us vital points, while we also have to count that Franciszek Smuda simply knows what he is doing. The biggest problem will be with scoring goals - the responsibility for that should be shared, as we don't have a proper striker. ForumWisla.pl, Piotr Truchlewski @forumwisla_pl

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? Zagłębie seems to have a few unresolved issues going into the next season. We still have troubles in defense with Gliwa as our primary goalie and quite shaky back four. That's not a good thing for a team that tends to play ridiculously bad in the beginning and in the end of a season. Another thing is the forward spot. Should Papadopulos catch a severe injury, Hapal only has ineffective Woźniak and a few youngsters. Looking on the bright side, I'm not worried about midfield.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Our transfers yet again create the hype. We all think that by signing Piątek, Przybecki, Kwiek and Guldan Zagłębie can finally live up to the supporters' expectations. Unfortunately we didn't explore the market in pursuit of a goalkeeper. Pernis seems to be on his way out to somewhere else than Lubin and I believe that we are no longer in the running for Trela.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? I hope that you'll understand me right now. Pavel Hapal is in a way like Roberto Martinez. Why? They both love to sign 'their' players. Martinez took Kone, Alcaraz and Robles along when he left Wigan for Everton and Hapal already has Jeż, Guldan, Papadopulos and Bilek in Lubin. The board seems alright, we're investing in our future. Our main concern is defense and the constant inability to perform every minute of every game. My friend is of the opinion that it's because we pay them too much, and I guess that's one of the reasons.

How do you see your club performing this season? I believe in Zagłębie, I believe that they'll finish better than in the recent years. With our squad, we should fight for the european spot, especially in Ekstraklasa. Of course I don't expect a top 3 finish and Europa League qualification this year, but we should just show that we're capable of fighting for it. Determination is the key and we are unfortunately we're kind of short of it. I go for fifth or sixth place. Michał Rygiel @zaryglowane, and Robert

Fans’ View How do you assess your team ahead of the season? As with every transfer window, our squad is a surprise. Seven players left Bydgoszcz only to be replaced by similar number but it is not strictly about our transfer policy - it is more about belief of building something for the future and whether manager Ryszard Tarasiewicz has it. I think he will motivate them well, but for me the biggest problem - slow pace of the side - has not been made to go away yet.

How has your club dealt in the transfer market? Bacar Balde is someone to look at when he finally gets fit - Tarasiewicz likes that kind of players, tough, with good strength and capable of doing the job in the middle area. Others are either unproved at the top level or at the end of the road (Dudek, Kuklis) so it will be curious whether, after all, we made any good business this summer. It doesn't look that way, sadly.

What is the biggest current problem at your club? Lack of stability and the perspective. For a club that have come through so much lately, we need to have a plan, structures and something more than friendly football agency that keeps sending us same players. It's enough to say that the only plan for the transfer window we had was to use contacts in France that Tarasiewicz made few years ago.

How do you see your club performing this season? It will be a long season, definitely. I don't think we have enough to make it for the top eight, but that doesn't mean I don't see five or six sides that are either weaker than we are, or are playing worse football than we do. I hope we kick off with the right attitude and then Tarasiewicz will build team's confidence on it. Things may happen then.i Patryk Czarny

To give you a little bit of help, #Ekstraklasa Magazine’s editors Michał Zachodny and Ryan Hubbard give you a sneak peek at their team line-ups and formations.

Pociąg z Sosem Manager: Ryan Hubbard In an attempt at the most pointless team name, Pociąg z Sosem will be aiming to lift the EKSTRAKLASAreview Fantasy Liga title. However, the only thing they have a chance of winning is the “Most Pointless Team Name” title. Jasmin Burić (Lech Poznań): With Lech missing out on the league title to their main rivals, they will be out for revenge. A strong defence, with a commanding goalkeeper will be important for that. Damian Zbozień (Piast Gliwice):

?

One of the most improved players last season, Zbozień was an important part of Piast’s surprise 4th placed finish. Still very young, and being ousted from his place at Legia, he will be keen to impress once more. Csaba Horvath (Piast Gliwice): Missing a chunk of the season after breaking his arm, Slovakian Horvath will be out to impress his new boss after moving from Zagłębie. Once an important part of the Miedziowi de fence, he could be an important addition in Gliwice. Jakub Tosik (Jagiellonia Białystok):

Aleksander Kwiek (Zagłębie Lubin): Following his former Polonia boss Piotr Stokowiec, Tosik headed eastwards to jon a notoriously strong back line at Jagiellon- One of the most important players at Górnik last term, his move ia. He could however be hampered if they don’t sort out their to Zagłębie is a great addition for the Lower Silesians. Along side Jeż, Piątek and Przybecki, they’ll be one of the toughest disciplinary record from Hajto’s reign. midfields in the league. Piotr Malarczyk (Korona Kielce): Vladimir Boljević (Cracovia): With Korona showing glimpses of capability during Spring Malarczyk was one who impressed. Chipping in with a goal or Cracovia’s leading scorer on their way to promotion, he will be two, he could add valuable points. the man they turn to if they harbour hopes of survival. He knows how to score goals, and can follow the example set by Kasper Hamalainen© (Lech Poznań): Robert Demjan - top scorers don’t neccesarily need to be at the bigger teams. With Lech’s midfield one of the strongest in the league, it was only natural to look there for someone to join the team. In Łukasz Teodorczyk (Lech Poznań): Hamalainen, they have a young, talented midfielder who can go on to be one of the league’s best. Form faded following his move from Warsaw in winter, but a confidence boost arrived with his first Kolejorz goal. A recent Dani Quintana (Jagiellonia Białystok): friendly hat-trick against Nordsjaelland has shown that maybe Mariusz Rumak has figured out how best to deploy him. Two players from Jagiellonia? Well, when one is Dani Quintana, how can you say no? One of Jaga’s key players last term, Sub: Marcin Skrzeszewski (Cracovia), Paweł Zieliński they’ll need goals from him as they are lacking in strikers. (Zawisza), Damian Buras (Wisła), Kamil Zieliński (Pogoń). Łukasz Madej (Górnik Zabrze): Another who will need to chip in with goals if their club wants to improve, Madej has shown before he has the ability. With Górnik’s midfield a strong point, he’ll get an assist or two.

KTBFFH FC Manager: Michał Zachodny Hernani (Brazil, Pogoń Szczecin): Now I know that Pogoń were simply awful last season and it's only a miracle that they have not went down, but I'm sure that Dariusz Wdowczyk got their defence working again. He scores some goals from set-pieces too. Christopher Oualembo (DR Congo, Lechia Gdańsk): Lechia's full back has some great experience and although he suffered from injuries recently, I hope that he will be vital in their improved performances this season. David Abwo (Nigeria, Zagłębie Lubin): Pacy and sometimes even dangerous - occasionally playing as well. He could be bargain if Pavel Hapal somehow teaches him how to play with the ball at his feet! Hélio Pinto (Portugal, Legia Warszawa): Heard only good things about him since his move to Warsaw and early summer games have shown that his qualities will only improve the champions. Dani Quintana (Spain, Jagiellonia Białystok): A "must" in the squad really, with his dribbling skills and vision, Spanish midfielder should be one of better creators not only at Jaga, To make things interesting in picking your own Fantasy but in the whole league. team, there has to be a twist. Once I was picking players with only "animal" names, now I went for foreigners only. Daisuke Matsui (Japan, Lechia Gdańsk): I was sceptical With quite a few of them coming to the Ekstraklasa this at first, knowing that his recent seasons were mostly poor summer, of a better quality too, I thought that this will finally and he looked like he is already on the other side of the make my team more competitive. Or at least I tried! career, but his experience and technique got telling in friendPavel Steinbors (Latvia, Górnik Zabrze): I have heard a lot of good things about him and with Łukasz Skorupski on the move, I think he may play for Adam Nawałka's team. Can only hope they won't leak so many goals this term though! Dudu Paraiba (Brazil, Sląsk Wrocław): Taken out of nowhere - or Mexican second division - he is still a very attacking-minded left-back, someone who will definitely chip in few assists, with some goals from set-pieces as well. This is how he played at Widzew!

lies Lechia played. Should be their new leader. Henrik Ojamaa (Estonia, Legia Warszawa): Another signing of the champions and they have beaten Lech to sign this striker. His story is great - he came out of the blue recently in Scotland and should be as dangerous in Poland as well. Marco Paixao (Portugal, Sląsk Wrocław): His movement is great, he has an instinct and can play in few positions at once. Maybe not scoring as much as Sląsk fans hopes, but I see a lot of potential in their new signing.

Subs: Oleksij Szlakotin (Ukraine, Korona Kielce), Michal Pavol Stano (Slovakia, Korona Kielce): Often used as a Piter-Bucko (Slovakia, Podbeskidzie), Kim Min-kyun (South striker by Leszek Ojrzyński, he may cost me some nerves Korea, Jagiellonia), Abdul Ouedraogo (Ivory Coast, Pogoń with occasional red card, but I'm more than sure that he will Szczecin). find the net at least few times. Strong, tall and perfect in mind of Tony Pulis.
