Biography Dr. Mooney has been teaching at St. Cloud State since 1989. She teaches Accounting courses at the undergraduate and MBA level. Dr. Mooney is chair of the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, the entity that licenses and disciplines CPAs in Minnesota. She is also a NASBA Registry Reviewer for The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy which reviews CPE offerings through this reviewer network. In 2009, she was awarded the Professor of the Year, SCSU Accounting Club Award. She has been on several boards including chairing the Board of Directors for Lutheran Social Service of MN and currently serves as a Trustee for Portico Benefit Services, a multi-employer health and retirement benefit organization.

Biography Dr. Busta is a CPA and CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor). His research is typically involves the creation of cases for accounting and MBA students. For more than 12 years he has been a visiting professor at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. Both at SCSU and IE, Dr. Busta has extensively taught financial and managerial accounting for MBA students. He is also the Finance Forum Leader for the Anderson Center, which specializes business education for executives and mid-level managers.

Personal Interesting Facts Dr. Busta is an avid Nordic Skier and cyclist. He is a beekeeper and in the spring of 2013 he and his wife walked the Camino de Santiago from St. Jean Pied de Port in France, to Santiago de Compostela in Spain; a total of more than 500 miles.

Biography Dr. Susantha Herath joined the Information Systems Department in the Fall of 2001. Prior to that time, he was with the computer science faculty at University of Aizu, Japan from 1993-2001 and South West Texas State University from 1990-1993. Dr. Herath’s primary teaching and research interests are in Security and Network Systems, Information Assurance, Neural and Artificial Intelligence, etc. He is a senior member of IEEE.

Personal Interesting Facts Dr. Herath has participated as a faculty member in three Studies Abroad in Chile, Cape Town South Africa and China. In 2011 he started growing sweet potatoes and mushrooms in Uganda to help widows. He is the founder and the president of the Herath Foundation, a non-profit, non-government organization established in 1985 to improve the quality of lives and turn the vicious cycle of poverty into a virtuous cycle of prosperity. So far over 8000 scholarships are awarded to students around the world.

Biography Jim Q. Chen is Professor of Information Systems. He has served as Chair of Information System Department, President of East Asian Faculty and Staff Association, and board member of Shaanxi Folk Association of Minnesota. He is currently the President-elect and treasurer for International Chinese Information Systems Association. He is also the faculty sponsor of an on-campus Maverick IT internship program with an annual budget close to a quarter million. Dr. Chen is the guest editor of International Journal of Information Systems and Change Management. He is also an Editorial Board Member for Journal of Internet Commerce and International Journal of Information Systems and Change Management. He has published over 60 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. His research work has appeared in journals such as Communications of the ACM, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Computer information Systems, Journal of Global Information Management, Asia Case Research Journal, and Information System Management among others.

Biography Prior to joining SCSU in 2002, Dr. Paul Safonov had over 16 years of international scholarly experience with main focus on computer modeling in economic and ecological-economic systems. He worked as Senior Researcher in Russian Academy of Sciences; Free University of Brussels, Belgium; to mention a few. Dr. Safonov was Visiting Professor at University of Campinas, Brazil, University of Versailles, France, gave guest lectures and seminars in over 40 universities worldwide.

Biography Dr. Kim has been with SCSU for nine years and serves as the chair of Management Department. His primary research areas of interest include corporate governance, strategic decision making, top management team, and global strategy. He has published numerous articles in research publications including Journal of Business Research; International Journal of Organizational Analysis; Career Development International; Journal of Management Research; and International Journal of Risk and Contingency Management. Biography After graduation from the PhD program, Dr. Ernst spent two years in the Division of Biostatistics at the University of Florida Health Science Center consulting with doctors on their medical research. Dr. Ernst then spent seven years at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis teaching graduate students in the Applied Statistics program and helping start a new Ph.D. program in Biostatistics. He has been teaching Business Statistics at Herberger Business School at St. Cloud State University for the last seven years.

Biography Dr. Changsoo Sohn joined St. Cloud State University in 2000. He started his academic career as a Research Assistant at Seoul National University in the early 1990s. He received Bachelor degree from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea and M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. From 2003 to 2006, he had served as a professor and associate dean of Graduate School of Business Administration at The Catholic University of Korea. His major is Management Information Systems. His main research interests are electronic commerce and service operations management. His research was published in many journals and proceedings such as Total Quality Management & Business Excellence, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Electronic Customer Relationship Management, and so on. He was a recipient of “Gopal Kanji Prize for Best Article of 2008”. Biography Amy Fredin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at St. Cloud State University. Amy earned her Accounting degree at The College of St. Benedict and then worked in public accounting as a CPA for two regional firms in the Twin Cities. She later completed her MBA from St. Cloud State University and taught in the Accounting program at Alexandria Technical College. Her passion for higher education then pulled her to Nebraska, where she earned her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Amy has since published articles in the areas of whistleblowing and the balanced scorecard, and has also published a cost accounting teaching case. Her primary teaching responsibilities at SCSU include the Cost and Managerial Accounting courses, as well as an MBA Accounting for Managers course.

Biography Dr. Johnson has been with St. Cloud State University since September of 1999 teaching Business Law. Before joining us full time, he worked as an attorney for over sixteen years at both large and small law firms and as in -house counsel at an international firm. Dr. Johnson also has entrepreneurial experience gained in starting two Health Savings Account businesses. His interest in teaching started in the Law School, where he was the Managing and Teaching Director of ABA Moot Court. He is licensed as a Qualified Neutral Under MN Rule 114, Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. He serves as an Expert Witness within his area of expertise. He served as an Appointed Member to IRPAC, an IRS Advisory Board. Dr. Johnson has published extensively in the area of Tax-deferred Plans; including co-authoring the IRA Answer Book for Panel Publishing. He has written articles for a number of publications; including, the ABA Banking Journal, ABA Trust & Investments, American Banker, Benefits Magazine, Benefits Quarterly, Compensation and Benefits Digest, and Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance. Biography Dr. Janell Kurtz teaches Global Legal and Ethical Environment of Business in the MBA program. Janell is a member of the MBA Review/Revision Task force and codesigned the Ethical Leadership and Leadership courses. She is a proponent of study abroad experiences and spent the summer directing the SCSU British Studies Program in Alnwick, England.

Biography .Dr. Pesch joined St. Cloud State University in September 1987. He teaches undergraduate and MBA courses in operations management. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Western National Insurance Co., and holds similar positions in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Dr. Pesch has published 30 articles in peer-reviewed and practitioner publications. He has won two “Best Paper” awards, and was named a Herberger Business School “Distinguished Professor of Business” in 2003.
