EXPECTATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE STUDENT: 1. Make sure the Program of Study Form is filed in the Office of Graduate Studies with Ann Anderson. 2. Schedule first planning conference with the field supervisor and University supervisor/advisor to review the proposed field experience plan and expectations. 3. Speak directly with the on-site field supervisor several times a week. 4. E-mail your University supervisor/advisor at least once a month to keep him/her informed of activities, challenges, and positive experiences. 5. Perform all course requirements in a manner reflecting leadership excellence. 6. Verify that you have at least 30 credits completed beyond a Master’s Degree for K-12 Principal, Superintendent, and Director of Special Education licensure. 7. Maintain confidentiality in all interactions in the district, school and university environments. Breach of confidentiality potentially harmful to the field experience site may result in removal from the site and or field experience. 8. Communicate with the on-site supervisor and/or University supervisor any problems/concerns 9. Complete the Portfolio. 10. Provide the on-site supervisor with the Pre-Reflection and the Agreement form to be completed in the initial conference. 11. Set up the final visit to present the portfolio and complete the situational panel to the University advisor/supervisor and on-site supervisors. 12. Complete the Application for Sixth Year Certificate when you have completed 30 credits beyond your Master’s Degree.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE ON SITE SUPERVISOR: 1. Agree to the time commitment for supervising the intern 2. Verify the hours documented by the intern 3. Provide guidance on the activities for each of the competencies 4. Provide “shadowing” experiences when possible 5. Allow the intern to direct activities where appropriate 6. Help keep the intern focused on the competencies 7. Meet periodically with the intern to review progress 8. Be honest and forthright about the skill and understand the intern displays in the activities 9. Communicate with the University supervisor any problems/concerns 10. Sign the Agreement and Planning Conference forms 11. Participate on the Situational Panel and complete Situational Observation Assessment Rubric 7
