SWING BACK TO THE TWENTIES: The famous novel, the Great Gatsby, has recently come out of copyright with the film to be released next year. From 20 November to 31 December, however, Spier will be hosting an interactive stage adaptation of the novel. The book was adapted by Peter Joucla, who also directs the show. Produced by the team from Wilton’s Music Hall in London, the adaptation incorporates singing and dancing between and within the scenes. Those interested in attending the show are invited to dress up in their twenties-best and enjoy the Gatsbystyle food and entertainment, before, in the interval and after the show. Expect live jazz, late night foxtrots, moonshine in teapots, pearls and flappers, bootleggers and millionaires and unbridled hedonism on the Spier lawns. Tickets are R630 per person and includes the show, Gatsby-themed food and Spier wine. Those that book before 10 November or group bookings (10+) pay R550. Tickets are available through Computicket.
