Thank you for registering for the Carrieon Running Haydock event. We would like to thank all sponsors and partners involved in supporting this event and we hope you have an enjoyable and safe day.


Welcome Welcome to the Carrieon Running Haydock event. We would like to thank you all for registering and raising funds for your chosen charities. We hope you have an enjoyable event and enjoy the entertainment after you finish the event.

Event Timings 10:00—Warm up begins by the start line 10:45—5K runners called to the start line 11:00—Start of the 5K run 11:15—Start of the 10K run 16:00—Event closes

On Arrival There is no need to register on the day. Please turn up an hour before the event to make sure you can take part in the warm up and ready to start at 11:00am. The event start time is 11:00am. If you have any queries on the day please ask one of the marshals or make your way to the Information Point located near the start line park lodge on the left as you enter the park main entrance.


Getting to the start The start of the Carrieon Running event is in the middle of Haydock Park Racecourse. The address is Haydock Park Racecourse, Newton-le -Willows, Merseyside, WA12 0HQ .

By Car If you are travelling by car please use the postcode above. This will get you to the entrance of the car park. Parking is available on site and you will be directed by parking marshals. Remember DO NOT leave valuables on show in your vehicle.

By Train The nearest train station to Haydock Park Racecourse is Newton-leWillows, available on trains running from Manchester Piccadilly, Victoria and Oxford Road to Liverpool Lime Street. On the main London to Glagow line the nearest stations are Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western which are both approximately 8 miles from the racecourse. By Bus You can travel to the racecourse by bus using the following services. The 620 (St Helens to Hindley Green via Ashton and Haydock) and the 320 (St Helens to Wigan via Ashton and Haydock). For journey times please call 0871 200 2233 or go to http://www.arrivabus.co.uk

Registration on the day Entries will be accepted on the day if the maximum entry has not already been reached , this will be publicised on the www.whatacarrieon.co.uk website or email support@whatacarrieon.co.uk On the day entries will be subject to a ÂŁ5.00 per person surcharge.

Event Numbers You MUST wear your event number on the front of your running vest. Please bring pins with you to attach your number .This is so Officials can clearly see your number for safety purposes.

Changing and Baggage Facilities There are changing facilities on site but no baggage store so please make sure you keep your belongings safe.


Race Route and water stations A water station will be located around the start finish area. This will be manned by marshals who will hand out bottled water. When disposing of your empty bottles please DO NOT throw them on the ground please put them in the bins provided and help keep the grounds tidy.

Race Route The Route Starts in the middle of the racecourse. The route will then take you on a mixture of grass, tarmac and loose surface pathways around the perimeter of the park. 1 lap is 5km so 10K runners will do 2 laps. Some parts of the pathways narrow so please consider other runners and park users whilst taking part.

Your body and fitness You will enjoy the run more if you have prepared your body prior to the event. Previous runs starting with light easy work and shorter distances can be done as a base for your training. When you feel comfortable with this you can increase the distance and pace to increase your fitness. It is important to eat and drink correctly before the event to keep your energy levels up and stay hydrated. You can pick up some training tips or join in with others on training runs. Runners MUST Act responsibly at all times. Not deviate from the route. Be considerate at all times to other runners and park users. Listen to marshal instructions on route. Wear your event number on the front of your running vest.


You are strongly advised to: Keep Hydrated during the run. Take a rest if you feel the need to. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day.

Medical If you suffer from any medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy or other conditions then please write this on the back of your event number so that paramedics can see in case of an emergency. There will be full first aid support at the start finish and at points around the route.

Finishers Please keep the finish area clear after you have crossed the line to make room for other finishers and runners.

We would also like to thank the efforts of all involved in helping promote and take part in the event and hope that you all take part again next year.
