CHAPTER 6 When the police arrived they started to look into the crime scene. They took photos of everything: the window, the window’s frame, the walls, the dead body, the bed, the bedside table, the carpet near the bed, the lamp, the curtains, the chest of drawers, the wardrobe, the door and the door handle. They found some fingerprints on the window handle and on the door handle, too. There was some hair on Kate’s bed and on the carpet and a cigarette butt on the floor. Next morning two policemen came back and interrogated all of them. It seemed that Kate was murdered at one o’clock at night. At one o’clock Sarah and Jane were sleeping, they went to bed early. Jane slept alone but Sarah slept with Mark. He came to bed later because he was watching TV with Uncle Tom. But both of them said that at half past twelve they switched off the TV and went to bed. All of them had an alibi, but any of them could have visited Kate’s room and killed her. When the police interrogated Sarah they asked her if something strange had happened these days. She talked about John and his phone cell. Kate was very worried about that. The policemen went to interrogate John too and they discovered that she had met Kate in the lake just one hour before she was murdered. At one o’clock at night he was at home sleeping.
