North Carolina (NC) Bonus Antlerless Deer License Practice Course About the Service: North Carolina (NC) Bonus Antlerless Deer License Practice Course This course will help you prepare for the North Carolina Bonus Antlerless Deer License (ABL) drawing. The ABL is a special license that allows you to harvest an extra antlerless deer during the ABL season in North Carolina, which is separate from the regular archery or gun seasons. The ABL season runs concurrently with the regular archery and gun deer seasons. The ABL season can be used in any county in the state except for Robeson County near Lumberton where it is not available because of overpopulation concerns. The information provided by this course is based on best management practices that have been developed by wildlife biologists at NCDOTI as part of their overall strategy for managing white-tailed deer populations across the state. These best management practices are supported by research conducted by Dr. David Conover at NC State University and his colleagues who study white-tailed deer populations in North Carolina and other states across the United States.
