Maine Literacy Specialist Practice Course About the Service: This Maine Literacy Specialist Practice Course is designed to help you think about the role of the literacy specialist and how to support teachers. The course will also help you build your knowledge of the components of reading instruction in order to provide quality learning experiences for every student. The Practice Course is a self-paced learning experience that provides an opportunity for you to explore what it means to be a literacy specialist in Maine. It includes videos, readings, and activities that will help you learn more about the practice of being a literacy specialist. This course was created by the Maine Charter School Commission with funding from the U.S. Department of Education under a grant titled "Strengthening Literacy through Professional Development" (2015).
