Maine Hunting Practice Course About the Service: Maine Hunting Practice Course The Maine Hunting Practice Course is a statewide program administered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Program. The course provides training and practice in safe, ethical hunting practices and environmental ethics. The course is designed to meet the requirements of R9-104-03 of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife's Hunting Regulations handbook. The course is conducted by volunteer instructors, who are trained by UMPI Extension Foresters. The goal of this program is to provide hunters with an opportunity to develop safe, ethical hunting skills that will help them enjoy their sport more fully and safely. It also gives them an opportunity to explore ways they can use their outdoor skills in other areas of life.
