Maine Audiologist Practice Course About the Service: Maine Audiologist Practice Course This Maine audiologists practice course is designed for the beginning or experienced audiologist. This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage hearing loss, balance disorders and tinnitus in your patients. You will also learn how to fit hearing aids, properly test patients' hearing abilities and write hearing aid prescriptions. The Maine audiologists practice course also includes a comprehensive review of medical terminology, anatomy of the ear and principles of speech analysis. Upon completion of this program, you will be eligible to sit for the national board examination. Audiologists are healthcare professionals who work with people who have problems with their ears, including those who have difficulty hearing or understanding speech due to a disorder known as "Hearing Loss". Audiologists do not treat ear infections; however they do evaluate them using special tools such as otoscopes (microscopes that fit over the opening of an ear) or tympanometers (special instruments that measure pressure changes inside the middle ear).
